Veteran batsman Shaun Marsh posted his first Ashes ton and fifth in Tests to put Australia in a commanding position at the close on day two in Adelaide
Everyone hated it when Shaun marsh got selected but he got not one but two hundreds in the series he proved the critics wrong and only batsman in history got hundred from 1 to 6 batting position
Shaun Marsh is the nearest to the perfect batsmen in the Australian set up. Not troubled by the short balls, clean driver, opening bat who plays spin unglamorously well, has patience, powerful striker. Only one problem with Marsh is he thinks too much when he gets found out.
Mate he's the most perfect batsman in the squad with Khawaja! Problem with Marsh is that he scores runs when there's pressure on him but doesn't score anything when there isn't! He'll score a 100...then get out for 3 ducks in a row. Thats the issue everyone has with Marsh! He has the quality but doesn't use it!
This innings shows a glimpse of what he could have been. A good career none the less but injury and inconsistent form prevented him from being counted as one of the truly great batsmen of Australian cricket. Some of the cleanest, purest cricket shots you’ll ever see

Great performance but it makes me extremely sad for Shaun Marsh for all his injuries and frustrated by his inconsistency for Australia when fit a player of his calibre with the opportunities he's been given should be approaching the end of his career averaging 50+ and with a hundred test caps
What a great couple of knocks! Especially with all the jokes flying around since his selection. He looks so good when he gets going. But now he`s started putting a price on his wicket.
Marsh was selected on form . He can be slow but usually opens the batting . This stance is probably enough to justify the selectors decision . I say good luck to him .
very classy batsman, will young, brad hodge and shaun marsh are three very classy players. They technically look so good and such a still head position and smooth backlift with exquisite timing.
Shaun Marsh is probably a fine left- handed batsman Australia's got. But his inconsistency is keeping him out of playing eleven. Same thing with classy Khawaja, he's good but inconsist with his form. Had Australia played both Marsh and Khawaja and rested Warner for 5th Ashes Test, the recently concluded Ashes series would've had different results.
im happy for him but i still don't think he deserved another chance, this is his 8th chance at test level while other quality players like Ferguson only got 1 chance (1 test for him lmao) and was batting better at shield level. hut credit to him he got the chance and took it. also if marsh is going to be a permanent member of the team who will drop out for a 4th paceman? and we don't need an all rounder pat cummins is basically an all rounder already. i also think the selectors made a mistake in there selections for this test, the conditions have Chadd Sayers name written all over it not to mention he knows the oval better then anyone else in the Australian squad and hes earned a chance to play for Australia when will he get a chance? for me at the WACA Australia need 4 paceman and a spinner so someone is going to need to drop out of the side. 1.Warner 2.Bancroft 3.Khawaja (could drop out and marsh up to 3?) 4.Smith 5.Handscomb (could drop out and marsh up to 4?) 6.Marsh (could drop out after a 100 but unlikely) 6.Cummins (goes up the order as an all rounder if one of the above drops out, will do a better job then mitchell marsh) 7.Paine 8.Starc 9.Sayers 10.Hazlewood 11.Lyon
i had them both as number 6 as i had to include everyone in the team now, there both not going to bat at number 6 but in this match (adelaide) marsh is at number 6 but i think for perth he should be up higher and one of the batsman come out that's why i have the brackets next to handscomb, khawaja, marsh and cummins. i believe one of khawaja handscomb or marsh should be left out for the waca test, not for the series but just for that test as its a real bowler friendly wicket. i would put the team back to the way it was after but just for that match i feel that 4 quicks and 1 spinner would work better then 3 quicks and 1 spinner.
i just said for the waca test not the whole series, the waca is a fast bowlers wicket and the current team we have right now when starc and hazlewood are having a rest cummins and lyon are bowling but what if the batsman decide to take it to lyon then what? we have only 3 bowlers that can bowl pace and that can be dangerous, you don't want starc hazlewood and cummins bowling to many overs and wearing themselves out there is still 2 more tests to go after the waca. So if the english batsman attack the spin bowling who do you bring on? starc and hazlewood just bowled a spell so there having a rest what option do you have?
Yeah i understand where you are coming from now. However I reckon we will be alright, the WACA pitch is faster but not like it used to be. Offers little for spin however Lyon is a class act and won't struggle.
Sorry, I still doubt him. He always starts strong, only to fade away for a long time before being injured. That is the Shaun Marsh way. Expect a run of low scores for the rest of the series from him.
Doesn't really matter. He's already put his team in a good position to win the test and get closer to the Ashes. That's all that matters - whether or not he kicks on isn't relevant to the rest of the team.
