Not all English teachers show this to his or her students, if so I would have seen this a long time ago, only just now my grade eight English teacher showed this to me. The grade sevens and six's don't see it till grade eight. Then im not sure about grade nine and over because im not in grade nine yet. But I know that in elementary school they never showed me any of this type of videos, so I think it's just grade eights and maybe above...
The thing is, I would never have been made to think so critically about my digital world without having experienced this poem by way of the very digital world of RU-vid.
peopleaintshit duh that's an interesting point; i'd answer that i would still watch it here on RU-vid rather than live. if i had a chance to see it live, i would but if i had to choose no strings attached why would i see this poem live only once when i can see it online as many times as i'd like? balance is a good plateau but people need technology to survive, prosper, and advance our collective consciousness forwards unto tomorrow.
I've seen this 20 times and still get goosebumps. Unfortunately, I'm watching this on my Apple iPhone. I have no idea how he did not get first place. The first place video was not very good. Nowhere near the passion and wordplay that Touchscreen has.
I saw this in class and everyone said it was stupid and laughed but I lowkey love spoken words and was really feeling this dude .so much I liked him up to watch it again
I agree with you he’s got a point the children that were in your class must’ve been really immature lol I’m a sophomore and you must’ve already graduated high school but I’m barely just working on this assignment and I love it!
my english teacher showed me this today. now i look at the comments, and they've been doing this for almost a decade. holy shit, someone has a creative lesson plan
amazing how so many people are missing the point of this poem. 10 years ago texting while driving was not a Hazzard now it's a common tradegy. The moral of the story people is not to give up technology but to wear it as a loose "garment". Use technology for what it's worth but do not get so caught up in it the you trade your life, relationships, and other's for it.
This is relatable because so many people are stuck in their devices and they consume our lives instead of talking to people face to face, or doing "normal" activities.
This poem sparked my interest in slam poetry but also inspired me to start an open mic poetry club at my high school. It will also be the first poem I recite at the first meeting!
My English teacher showed me this and usually once I study a poem i never want to hear it again but i have watched this about a hundred times and it is still amazing 😉❤️❤️

goodnesss this has always been one of my favorites. my 8th grade english teacher showed this to the class and it sparked my love writing and poetry even more. she was a wonderful woman.

WOW, He had me on the first word he spoke, such a meaningful flow. I have been going to readings for decades but this one brought poetry to me just when i realized i needed to hear a poem and had the privileged to hear this one.
