Every time I see you post a video with the JVM 410 I miss mine a little more, lol. It is such a great amp. The amount of versatility that JVM offers is unreal. That being said, one of my favorite ways to set that up was leave it on the amber/OJ mode of OD1 with the gain set fairly low (I think somewhere around the 9-10 o'clock). Still plenty of gain the riff with, but I thought it would clean up real well with the volume that way. I wouldn't have thought the interference from lighting and such would be so noticeable between the two, so that's something new I learned. Thanks for the video!

Great side-by-side! I've owned both and still have my JVM and a 1960 cab , which is retired to my practice room. The DSL sounds great and sits nicely in a mix, but the JVM has that little "extra" that pokes thru a live mix when it needs to. Since around 99% of my playing is on stage, opposed to studio, the JVM wins. I can make any amp sit in a recorded mix. BTW, the alleged noise from the JVM is just that...alleged. Mine just has a little hiss until I unleash it. Maybe turn the gain down a bit?🤘👽

I have a DSL and bought it practically new for just $484. Here in Europe it's cheaper on a dollar basis, and that was the old pre-inflation and Black Friday price. I don't use it for high gains, I just grabbed the opportunity and I'm happy. I admit that when it comes to high gain, JVM wins for me. It sounds raw and aggressive, but it's a matter of taste. For this I have a copy of the Mesa 2x12 Baltic birch cabinet on Chinese V30. And believe me it sounds. Reduction to 50W is also useful. I would probably choose JVM, but I'm just an amateur and I already have my Marshall ;), and I would pay 3 times more for JVM. Here in Poland it is a lot of money. You can always try used ones, but you know - it can be different with the condition of the tubes, and the choice has already been made. Regards, cheers ;)

The 100 straight up sounds like a jcm 800 and a Recto had seggs and cut thru the mix better imho. That said, both sound fantastic. Also, you can get used 410h for around 1000-1200. New DSLs are $900. In case anyone was saving up or considering one over the other due to price difference, it's not huge.

Both sound amazing. JVM is a lot more versatile though. Comes with a price tag. I have a 2000 tsl 100 and a dsl 50c and even though they both say Marshall they are very different amps. Just like you have showed here. All the amps I have seen on this channel are really dialed in. You make em sound fantastic and the killer riffs don’t hurt either.

Great demo! I actually prefer the thickness of the DSL over the JVM. One thing with the DSL Series too is that they come with just ok tubes. Swapp in a set of Genalex Gold Lion 12AX7's and some Preferred Series EL34's and it will be a lot quiter and sound incredible. I did that with my 40C and it transformed the amp. Running a wampler Tumnus in front and it kills!

I don’t write down my settings and I constantly change them. The trick I find to the DSL is to make sure your walls are shaking because of the volume. That really opens up the amp and gives you much more control of your EQ. Cheers -Ryan

Unfortunately we only make videos with gear that we own... I only bought the DSL 100HR out of curiosity. Unless I find one for like $300, I don’t think I will pick up a DSL 100H. From everything I’ve read and heard it’s just a slight EQ bump in the High End for the HR and there’s a built in 1960 IR for silent recording. Cheers -Ryan

i just got a dsh100hr to complement my jvm205 . unlike the 205 and most of the vids of the dsl the bottom end is very sloppy and gooey in an old school sort of vintage power tube overdrive style , lots of push and sag . anything i cando to tighten up ? it does sound good , but its not a tight modern metal type of sound which lots of vids of the amp seem to nail well .
@Crypticmaskguitar

Honestly I just make sure that the Tone Shift is engaged and adjust the Resonance along with the bass. It's a tricky balance sometimes. Also OD 1 if you are not using a boost and OD 2 if you are using a boost. Otherwise OD 2 sounds like a really bad octave pedal. Cheers -Ryan

Both have Resonance controls... The DSL's Resonance helps to mimic the old JCM 2000's Deep Switch; However, the JVM 410H can easily replicate and surpass the DSL 100HR with it's multiple settings per channel. I'd go with the JVM 410H any day of the week. BUT the DSL 100HR works well on a light budget! Cheers -Ryan

Like you said two different amps the jvm is the top of the range and an amazing amp but don't ditch the dual super lead folks!? If its good enough for dave Murray from maiden and Jon schaffer from iced earth it's good enough for anyone! To be honest I think they would be amazing played together in the same band. The jvm has all the top end and that 800 bottom (but don't get me wrong.. Nothing on the planet comes close to a good 800!!) and the dsl covers all the mid range scoop. Sorry for going on.. The DSL100HR is lacking midrange, the critical frequency range that defines the sound of an electric guitar. Consequently, it sounds scooped and thin. It could work well for death metal, but for classic rock and classic metal, I'd go with the JVM410H. The more you pay, the more tone Marshall gives you, or, you get what you pay for.
