@DisasterBlaster500 Thanks for your reply, i already got the guitar, its a keeper, im enjoying it so far. I love the sound. Its dark and mellow, it fits my style perfectly!
@chrisharvey9 Thank you very much. Cables don't make that much difference. The amp is where it's at. The Fender Pro Junior is a great sounding little amp. Check mackamps.com as well. Many people dig the Jet City amps (inexpensive). Bugera V22 is getting great reviews too and it's not expensive either. Hope that helps!
@chrisharvey9 Also - check the Blackheart and Blackstar amps. I got a Blackstar HT-20, and it is superb. There is a HT-5 that might be more in that price range too, if the 20W is too expensive. The Blackhearts seem to be good clean/crunch single channel amps that take pedals well.
hey KingOfTone ! I haven´t really liked the sound of humbuckers clean that much for other styles than jazz, but you get a really nice tone with the marshall, both clean , overdriven and distorted. I actually think this guitar sounds better to the marshall´s caracter.. and robert when comes a demo of this guitar together with the heatseeker ? haha I bet you´ll get some nice break-up going on with this hot pickups .. some plexi tones ? Great demo and awsome playing! Crippe -
I am in the prosess of buying an amp. And the JVM410 is one of the candidates. The Amp/playing sound good. but I have a problem with the "shrillness" of the amp. Can it be tamed down or is it allways there?
I hate the OD channels on this amp, but i've played a lot of marshall amps and the clean RED makes this one of the best and most versatile! Great sound and moderately loud volume, GREAT with pedals, analogman fuzz, octavia, Tubescreamer, old proco rat. If you like that one plexi style sound, you need to get the plexi because this won't do it justice, but then you don't have the essential master volumes and versatility in sounds. This is a dynamic amp for sure
Sounds great, rotren! Thanks for letting me just hear the amp (uh, I guess I heard the guitar, too). Your band kicks ass, too. That "twangy noodling" sounds pretty damn good when your lead breaks kick in.......:) Maybe next time just turn the amph on w/ nothing plugged into it, and mic it!!!! Kewl!!! Then we can just hear the amp!!
a tip for anyone looking at buying this amp, do yourself a favour and pair it with Orange speaker cabs I have mine plugged in to an Orange PPC212 2x12 cab and it kind of rounds off the sound of the amp to just the perfect tone, hands down the best sounding combination that I've played through (30 years of playing), I can get everything from creamy blues, Thin lizzy style, 80s metal, 90's metal, rich glassy U2 tones and modern scooped mid sounds from this monster, JVM + Orange = bliss ;)
@chrisharvey9 Now if you're looking for a nice tube head I would say go for a Peavey Vypyr 120W. I don't know if modeling amps are really your thing but the sound that comes out of those are amazing. Not to mention the intense versatility they offer. Can't beat it with a stick for $550 :D
@chrisharvey9 Try out some Egnater amps at Guitar center and then look for the models used online. One of the best for the cost by far. I have this amp he is playing in the video and a couple others like AC15 handwired, Dr. Z Route 66. If you like fender amps, it really depends on how loud and what kind of music you like to play. Blues Jr. is a great fender amp for blues, but if you want to cover NIN songs you better get a closed back cabinet, and some pedals. Had a Marshall DSL, look 4 that too
This amp has too many knobs and options and what not for my liking. I demoed one once, and couldn't figure the damn thing out! However, I do like your tone and what you're playing buddy. Ever played, or heard of the Egnater TOL 100? That's kinda in the same vein, as far as options what with MIDI switching, 4 channels, effects loop and what not, but much easier to tweak in my opinion. Look out for them if you can find one!!!
@syxxsyxxsyxx I see your point man, but to be fair that doesnt make it a bad amp, it could be many things, maybe the soundguy did a crap job on levelling the guitars, maybe your settings are shit, not saying they are but its possible, and also its cus you have 2 guitarists, its always hard to match up amps, cus they have different tonal spectrums etc one may always be "bigger" than the other, just gotta experiment to find an amp that you like but levels out with the other players!
@MaiDeNrock11 lol, they use marshalls kus they really are fucking awsome for all styles of music, unless u play heavy metal and want a mesa boogie or somthn
ummm hmmm showoff lolol...I myself bought Kelly Michael patriot decree and it sounds just as good as a Gibson product...by the way great playing on your part...cheers
even though that makes no sense because over 90% of what you play on a guitar is a scale, people like the pentatonic scale because its a good building block to build your songs.
@chuckelator lol when I say gay it isnt homo stuff, just means I dont like it, I love jvm alot, you can make a strat with single coils sound like metal monster. Marshall stoped making the jmv, they are on clearance almost 45% off, this year marshall is coming out with mini marshalls of jcm200, jvm and different mini plexi's only for this year
Yeah they might all use Marshalls but how many heads do these guys need to be heard??? I bought this Marshall to check it out for a gig i had at the Scala (same stage as Alice In Chains) and the lead singers 5150 pissed all over it with his volume being on 3. My volume on the JVM was at 7 and it still sounded weak. Want the proof? watch the vid of us at the gig watch?v=MypzNRGYeuo
If you really want good tone just buy a Blackstar Series One- 100watt or 200watt their way more satisfying then the marshall's that have come out of late.
@crate718 I play metal with a vintage Marshall and it sounds awesome. Sorry buddy, you're wrong. On top of that, if you can only use this to play metal, what's the point of the different channels of this amp? I know for shit sure they all sound at least somewhat different. And gay would be the wrong word to use anyway, the amp isn't a homosexual, you just don't like what the guy is playing.
Keep thinking until you hear it i guess. However, don't start saying so and so uses Marshall because you like them. Marshall don't have the endorsers that most amp companies (Bogner, Mesa, Randall etc) have!!! Marshall have Zakk Wylde, Slash and Kerry King for well most known players. Nothing impressive, just guys who can't play anything other than pentatonic.
Hahahahaha, yup, fuck all people use marshalls alright, Alexi Laiho, Iron Fucking Maiden, Zakk, Bjorn Gellotte (in flames), KK, Matt Heafy, Roope Latvala (occasionally), Hanneman... should i go on?
No what i'm saying is that people hardly use Marshalls now. I'm 23 and have been playing for 14 years, so whats your point? The AMP sucks!!! You will only know it when a REAL amp over shadows the JVMs tone and the funny thing about it is, is that pretty much every amp out there today can over shadow a Marshall.
WRONG!!! Rob Flynn has used Peavey 5150s since his days in Vio-lence and he's been using them through out every Machine Head album and Live Show. Marshall's sound WEAK compared to amplifiers like Boogie and Bogner. And before you say i don't know anything, I've owned more amps than you probably have and have always sold my Marshall's cos they can't compare to my Bogner Ecstasy
not you again! get a band and stop using the Marshall Amp tutorial as an audition tool. Wasting my time with your twangy noodling. won't anyone just let me hear the amp!?
