Sounds good, especially considering it has lower end speakers in an open back cab. Would be cool to see how it sounds going through a full 4x12 as well. I cant believe you got this for 50$ man that is just unreal - what a killer deal!!! Great demo and riffs
UPDATE - After spending a week with this amp I can honestly say it's fucking amazing for a 2x12 combo! The true stereo chorus has a great 3d effect that fills the room (you'd have to hear it in person) and yes... this amp slays pretty hard! I changed to the original tube for a new Tung Sol 12ax7 and it really opened it up. The Eminence Gold Backs are actually decent as well. No need to upgrade imo For the best bass response put the amp on the floor about 6 to 12 inches away from the wall! I play a 7 string tuned in drop G# and it keeps the low end pretty tight and will rattle the windows. I can only imagine how it would sound with 2 4x12 cabs hooked up! That's 10 speakers blasting your face off!! \m/
I own few 8100's and I've been curious how the 2nd gen valvestate compares to 1st gen. Everyone always says 1st gen is way better but is it really because this thing sounds awesome! Can't wait for sunday!
Used to have a gen 2 VS100H, but eventually got rid of it. I now have a VS8100 which I think sounds less scooped and more organic, which is exactly how I would compare your VS265 to the VS8240 combo I also own, could be down to the speakers though. The gen 1 came with 75T speakers. Never used the power dimension on my gen2, I felt like it scooped the mids too much and made it sound fizzy. I remember keeping the contour at about 3-4 and take the harshness out by pulling back the highs a bit.
Awesome!! Sounds good and good riffing 👍 Yes definitely keep it! It should take pedals pretty good... It could be your pedal tinkering combo👍 Keep it or send it to me lol
Have this same amp. The volume is very touchy set at one its louder than shit but any louder the tone walks out the door. Great tone at very low volume. Any tips on this?
I dont think so, honestly it could be from my one speaker disconnecting from the small plate the wires connect too on the speaker, she rips at low volume. Start going up in volume and it gets muddy. I glued the plate back onto the speaker. Now that I think of it, could that be the issue? I love this amp and with my boss metal zone, dimebucker pickup and noise gate she really rips, but not at volume.
It's all good buddy! I wouldn't expect for you to use your time trying to think what could be wrong with my amp. Thanks for the reply and I'll look into it in depth.
I pulled the trigger on this amp today... hope I'll love it as much as I do the first gen ones. I play alot of modern metal with some shoegazey stuff that stereo chorus should be perfect.
