As a lifetime coach now 67, this is so true. The tricky line is to expose reality to students who really need to face their fears without putting them off. It has to be a gradual process under a the careful guidance of a good coach.
WHAT KIDS DO IN there YOUTH, CONTINUES ON for LIFE. I INTRODUCED MY DAUGHTER to NUMEROUS SPORTS WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG. TODAY SHE is a VERY RESPECTFUL , DISCIPLINED , SUCCESSFUL PERSON.
My Master, Dr. D. S. Kim, provided to us the Texas penal code on self-defense and required us to understand it and train others for self-defense with legal requirements in mind. Probably a smart way for him to legally protect his school from the poor judgement of some student. Thanks, Master U. You inspired me back in the day, and still do. Hope you enjoy this- we used to put mats by a car in the lot outside the dojang and take turns trying to get our keys in the lock and getting in while all the other black belts beat you with rolled up newspapers (those hurt like hell). Mostly you'd end up under the car or barely getting away with a bunch of nasty welts. Cops only came once and thought we were nuts. Martial arts life was the best.
