These older fights really paints the shows you how much Ippo changed after he learned the Dempsey Roll. Even in the newer ones you seem him super emotionally attatched to the technique. I really want a new season, because that detail is really explored further down in the story.

The fact that Date countered using his Heartbreak Shot to beat Ippo how Okita almost did countering with the Corkscrew punch sends goosebumps up my spine. Ippo would’ve lost if Okita’s knees didn’t give out from the accumulated damage.

its crazy, these earlier fights really had Ippo thinking, the introduction of the Dempsey roll almost took the thinking away because it allowed Ippo to be defensive and offensive much faster , combining feints, intimidation and using blind spots. Its also crazy how his power made up for a lot of his weaknesses as a boxer. There was been enough time in the manga to do at least 2 more seasons I need this anime back

Ippos original style was hit them before they hit you but after the Dempsey Roll the style changed to get hit and get close to unleash the Dempsey Roll that's why later on he became one dimensional

Now that you are running out of fights from the anime would you consider doing makunochi techniques Mondays? Videos where you select one technique from the show e.g the gazelle punch then use your background to focus on it. Like how youd do it in real life, drills to practice it, and variations of it?

I hope you consider reading Ippo's 6th title defense in the manga, his next match after the Sawamura fight. I think it could become your favorite match in the series.

Idk if ya seen it yet but ippo does an arm wrestling match against Kimura, Aoki, and takamura and ippo was shown to have a the minimum around the same amount of strength as takamura. So I'm more surprised ippo hasn't killed anyone

Would you ever react to the manga's matches as there are some bangers in it that never got animated? For example the match where Ippo shows the true power of his hits against a dude who dropped weight classes to fight him.

Since you are running out of IPPO fights, maybe I could advise the Kenichi anime. I know you will love his teachers aswell especially the muay thai "God of Death" There is this one quote in it when they explain why other martial arts avoid using knee's and elbows in combat and it's amazingly told :D

9:10 Yeah, imo, Ippo never had any talent as a boxer, he's a 1 dimensional character and it showed in his boxing style, he really has no likes or dislikes, or hobbies, that was the trait that made him impress the ppl around him, since he's like that, he's able to focus 100% on anything he does, but that's the thing, he only knows to do that, going face first and bang his head on the wall over and over until he gets through. Which is exactly why he burned his career so quickly, this also makes me think Kamogawa is a bad coach (or maybe his age has taken a toll), since he wasn't able to see ahead and realize Ippo was in a self destruct path with his style of go forward never backing down. After reading the manga, I really don't know why it's called Hajime no Ippo, if you ask me, the real main character is Takamura, not only was he the first in the gym, he's the only character that has a real plot, like a set goal, everyone else is just doing boxing because they like it. But Takamura wants to gift Kamogawa the six belts, in a gym that hasn't even had one (I think), before he dies, to thank him for giving his life a purpose (basically the're Rocky and Mikey from the movie). He also had high hopes for Ippo, he wanted to leave a successor of sorts, since he's on the older side, so Kamogawa could rest easy the gym was gonna do fine with the next gen, you can tell he was the most frustrated with Ippo's retirement.

It doesn’t matter if someone is imitating date or ippo it doesn’t mean your them. I think ippo’s opponent lost is because I feel like he want to be like date, boxing and all meaning he doesn’t have his own style.
