Yeah i always sang it with "ramen" in it. And my fiance, who is not a giant Mayer fan like me, one day says "that's cool he has a sense of humor and funny that he says ramen" haha. I was like ya he definately says "running". She agreed it fit too perfectly not to say ramen. Lol
He is not singing correctly unfortunately. A lot if musos rush their singing development because economics still rewards them without developing the proper technique. It's very hard to reverse once incorrect technique has been ingrained
@@YangYang-dk2ew because I know how to sing. He hasn't found his mix. You can always tell when volume increases with higher pitches. He pushes. I think he's has operations on his vocals as well which is result of this problem
Hes definantly not at his singing peak, not even close. His singing was best in the early 2000s, probably peaked around 2006 ish. But hes deffo at his peak of guitar playing rn
@@vjm5246 he's made big strides, actually. He's had to have surgery for vocal chord nodules because of his singing from the chest and pushing, not using his diaphram. His voice is markedly different now.
No Loops, No samples, No music created by a Mac…just pure talent and amazing song writing. Anyone who bags on John Mayer doesn’t know good music. Unfortunately, he’s a dying breed in music. From 2001-2021. Nothing. But. Good. Music.
You need to get out more....thousands of 14-17 year old Neil Young and James Taylor and Joni Mitchell acolytes are alive and well. As for looping....well, come into the 21st century, man. It's often put to very good use by acoustic players.
John has got me through some very difficult times in my life. Took my son to a concert about 4 years ago. This may be the happiest I had ever seen my son up to that point. My son fell in love with the sound of the lyrics and music melding into a singular sound. Now my son has dedicated his life to music. He feels this is the best way to express his emotions. Thank you, sir. You helped unlock my son's love of music.
Hey Matthew, Your comment stood out to me - my dad and I saw JM for the first time in ‘08 and it was during that concert that I decided “I want to play the guitar like that”. Shortly after, I began playing and in no time was flawlessly covering many of JM’s hits. Fast forward 13 years, and roughly six years away from guitar all together, and I plan to purchase a long-desired Martin 000 this month to revisit my love for guitar, JM’s songs, and life’s fondest memories. Thank you for sharing your experience with JM’s musical talent - it brought about some really great memories for me!
I'm a new John mayer fan, and I'm blown away !!! That man plays/sings, from MY HEART !!! NOTHING in the yrs since the 60's - to - present like him. AMAZING story telling, and like many, he's helping me from a really horrid past decade of my entire 53 yrs on this earth. I pray he continues to sing us n play "his stories" to us all.
Its actually refreshing and humanizing to hear him get a little fret buzz at 5:17. Seems like he barely makes any "mistakes" in 25 years of highly complex live performance. Dude is a force of nature.
@@kylemccloud9197 Playing and singing Edge of Desire requires running two demanding programs simultaneously 🤯 I can barely rub my belly and tap my head at the same time 😅
@@danielfros he’s definitely a freak of nature. I’ve been learning to play Neon and I have no earthly idea how he sings and plays that one. It’s definitely something special to watch
I've been playing guitar for 33 years, many of those years spent playing acoustic sets, and I cannot even fathom playing Edge of Desire and singing it at the same time. Mayer is just out of his mind talented, and anybody who hates on him has zero talent of their own, guaranteed. Talent respects talent, after all...
He used to do lots of weird stuff with his voice early on in his career. Glad to see he realized that simple singing with slight inflections here and there does a better job
You could also change your approach in learning. I believe JM knew music theory before he did all those magical stuff. There's always a way to be better! You can do this
Don’t give up brother , i started learning how to play JM songs a while back , after 2 years of picking up the guitar, i learned how to play edge of desire . So work hard man . You got this!
@@sdictson7750 there are many new great guitarist like mateus asato and ariel posen and many others but I don't feel they could influence the new generation like how john mayer did
Who Says sounds every bit as flawless in this backyard live session as a top studio. John's level of talent is beyond my ability to comprehend even though I'm staring it in the face.
What's crazy is I've heard him play all of these songs hundreds of times but he sneaks in a, "And it will be for you" after, "it's been a long time since 22" and I remember why he's that dude. Been a fan since 14 and I'm turning 26 this month. Thanks for everything John.
He’s just great. Last great real musician, composer, singer artist we will see that is trying to stay old school and low key. His talent and style is unmatched. Unique and handsome guy. ❤❤❤
I have loved this man from day 1. Saw him on his first tour. He is amazing. Has a beautiful voice, plays the guitar like a legend, his words are timeless, deep and down to earth and is such a hottie! I love John Mayer ☺❤🎶🎶💋😘
Pure talent. Just an acoustic guitar and vocals. He’s making this look easy. Pulling this off so effortlessly takes a musical genius. You can feel the emotion pouring out of him.
It took me awhile but he sure has my attention and respect now. I hear the real deal in his playing and singing, and the main thing, he sounds great, like he's really moving into himself now and getting it out there. people a lot more talented then me, like good ole EC, saw this right away years ago, and now I do too, so there ya go.
So nice to have a new John Mayer mix to listen to.... I have played everything from him backwards and forwards over the years. Best version of Dear Marie ever! Truly a music legend.
This man is the most talented guitarist I know. He is always creating. You can never get bored with his music style. He is always inspiring me. Wild Blue 💙💙💙💙💙
In light of all comments & replies, it’s obvious there’s a trending opinion/idea by fans new and old. The real question is: What can we do to get this artist the actual historical notoriety & recognition that’s been trending discussion worldwide for so long? Not just as his fans but as a collective society? As a society in a digital “super connected” age, having enough people in agreement of this idea- it’s obvious this warrants a larger discussion. So, How can we make that happen?? Those that agree, further thinking to gather options is necessary. This is not an impossible feat. In my opinion, because of John Mayer’s natural humbleness, he, himself would never assemble or present this argument- but together we certainly can do this on his behalf if our voices are loud enough. 🎶❤️🔥 Keep writing and playing John. Your music continues to help & inspire so many; and as you grow so do your fans.
I keep coming back to this - it struck a chord (ha) in that weird pandemic-era time warp so it brings back a lot of the emotions of the time. Performances like this were a great comfort when there weren't many live shows, and they still bring comfort now.
Ya this man writes great songs. Everything from blues pop fusion to folk to r&b-ish stuff its all great. He is so honest with his lyrics and his playing that his songs always leave me with a feeling.
It always makes me happy and excited for those who are just now finding out about his music. It's a great time listening to all of his past works and catching up on the new stuff... a lot like discovering a great tv series that's 20 years old and watching it for the first time. I suggest starting first at "Where the Light Is - Live in LA" - have fun!
These guitars are beautiful, they ring like a bell.seriously wish I could afford one of Martin’s top models... nothing sounds as good as a great acoustic guitar in great hands.
Wish I could see you in person and just watch you sing and play the guitar the whole day.🙂 So amazing to watch you discover and play and sing new songs🙂
Thanks for this. Incredible recording quality. Feels like being in the room with one of the greats. Buckets of vocal tone and and mountains of guitar over tones. Ear-gasm for sure.
This may get flack but i just found this and theres a beautiful irony. On this day (UK time) my marriage came to an end. So JM thank you! You lifted up a bad day and I've been jamming and performing this since i was 23. Always knew it had an importance. The blues are an I.o.u however you play them.
Sweet playing straight forward and wonderful. John's mastery of the fretboard to create flowing chords and melody ballads with great vocals just made my day. Inspirational....musical story telling.....Thanks!
The best part of my day is hearing John Mayer play and sing. Truly love this artist/musician. One of the best guitarists out there like Lenny Kravitz, Hendrix or Ben Harper.
