I wish but, not at all 😔 as I am 0 with financial understanding! Old, depressed, lonely, going blind and with no help! Since I divorced from a psychopath, i just wait to drop dead! BTW, i have stopped to pay E-on about 2 years ago, after they started helping themselves through my D D freely without telling me and, while my gas was switched off, I keep getting , every weekend?, this last weekend 6 , big letters of menacing abuses just to make my weekend?? They are giving me a nervous breakdown! etc..long story.. I keep telling them, Take me to court... Do you think that Martin could help me? Thanks.🙏🤗

I reckon Martin Lewis, Alvin Hall (liked his mention early in the vid) and the Motley Fool book were together responsible for me having paid off my mortgage at 39 and "retired" at 49., mainly through avoiding mistakes rather than claiming back. Thanks Martin

It’s helped him immensely, he’s a smart multimillionaire and works for the government. If he didn’t work for them he would have been silenced and censored a very long time ago like others have. I don’t trust a word he says, or British Bull$hit Corporation.

It's because in so called "real world" Martin Lewis and such people are looked at like the kid who reminds the teacher about the homework. I've to say I have been guilty of the same. There times when people in my past jobs tried to make me do the right thing but I did not listen because it meant more work for me. This podcast was very sobering to me. I'll do my best to do better.

I have a ten, nearly 11 year old boy. I left his abusive father two years ago (who is now playing Disney dad). I have so little money, I'm utterly exhausted, my landlord has given me a no fault eviction notice because he wants to sell. I'm not in a good place at all mentally. I have thought today that perhaps my son would be better off without me, he could just go and have a lovely life with his rich dad and his step siblings But listening to the pain in this man's voice when he was talking about the death of his mother has made me realise that I really do need to stay alive. So I will, and maybe one day life will be easier than it is now

Sending hugs. Keep breathing. And your child is now old enough to understand when you say that you can’t afford to do some things. And to have sensible discussions about what to do about different options. So he feels like he has some power in the little family. Small decisions that at this stage don’t have a level of risk associated, because that is age appropriate. But this can grow as he grows. You become a team and work together. Even if it starts with we can have pudding this week, shall we have ice cream or cake. And he can take responsibility for some chores but give him a bit of autonomy on when they are done (but no choice about doing them!) . So don’t interrupt him when he’s in the middle of something to make him vacuum….. but he knows that’s his job and it has to be done X times in a month. Help him figure out when to fit that round what else is going on for both of you. Build the team. Really hope you can work together to move forward. Best of luck.

My son is almost 9, when he was 4 month old his abusive sperm donor snapped the hyoid bone in my neck almost killing me, he went on the run for 6 months in that time he terrorised me, posted indecent pictures of me online and threatened to petrol bomb my home when we slept. He was finally caught and got 3 years served just 18 months in prison. He's not bothered to know my son since he was 4 months old. We don't have much, I work but the cost of living makes things tough. I talk openly with my son about money, what things cost. I give him an allowance that he can spend or save, we budget together, go thrift shopping together and come up with fun ways to make extra money. This year he wants to grow sunflowers and sell them from the garden to save for a trip to Ireland. My son understands the value of money so when he spends it he's more careful and appreciates things more. Teach your son to understand money, you, like me, may not be able to provide our sons with money but we can teach them young to understand it which in the long term is going to have way more value than all the toys and trips he goes on with his dad. Things may seem tough right now, but believe me when I say I've been under many a dark cloud in my life and always, eventually, the clouds part and the sun comes beaming through. You've got love and ultimately that's all your son will ever need from you. Don't give up. There is help out there, don't be afraid to ask for it. Everyone needs help sometimes. 🙏

When covid lock down hit, he contacted all of the clients who had paid for their special fun weekend and spelt out what they as a company were going to do. He told them that this situation won't last forever, but you can have all your money back right away, or if you want to leave it with them, it would be perfectly safe. Truly Martin is a truly great and honourable man. I know he never wants to go into politics but politicians should learn this level of integrity, honesty, holding individuals or companies account & most importantly thinking about what the everyday person is facing whether that’s the cost of living, special education in schools and the lack of funding in that area, living with disabilities all of these things that affect the vast majority of the public. This is what Martin campaign for not only the financial aspects. But be equal for society and raising the issues that impact us that the political parties are not addressing and haven’t been since austerity. So those who are thinking of going into politics or are in politics. Take note of why we admire what Martin’s done, and maybe take a leaf out of his book.

On being successful, my careers advisor in school always told the story of the fisherman who lived on a beach... he meets a rich american tourist one day and the tourist asks him what his typical days like... the fisherman says: I wake up, I fish until I've caught enough to eat, usually about noon and then I spend the rest of my day with my kids, I go for a walk, read a book and then get ready for the next day... the tourist says: well... if you fished the whole day, caught enough fish to sell, make enough mony eventually to buy your own boat... then you can catch more fish, buy another boat and after 30 years you could sell the company and retire... then you could get up in the morning, catch enough fish to eat, play with your kids, go for a walk, read a book and take it easy... people have a habit of paying for what they already have, try not to pay what you cant afford

@@user-hf4ix6ky9fthat's the moral of the story. A lot of people are going down this route which is also very sad and don't even try to have kids until they are well in their 30's. Aside from the fertility risk you also end up raising kids when your knackered yourself and they don't get the energy and interaction they crave at a young age.

Martin Lewis is a truly wonderful person. He is trusted. He figures out all the complicated stuff so that mere mortals like me can understand. He is a “god” of finance.
@Draggonny
@Draggonny 11 дней назад
But his point is that he isn't a god. He's a man with good reading comprehension, a decent grasp at maths and a lot of relevant work experience. Not everyone can do what he does but a lot of people can if they put their mind to it. If it isn't your thing that's okay but talk to your friends who have these same qualities and they can help direct you. I've become this "helper friend" for my friends, family and coworkers. He's become this helper friend for the entire UK. We can all help each other with our own special skills and interests. If finance isn't your thing then you have other gifts and knowledge you can share with those around you. Pay it forward in whatever way you can.

Martin is so right about trust. It means everything, and shortcuts should never be considered when building a business. many people rave about Alan Sugar and Alan himself bigs himself up about his early business with AMSTRAD, the reality is that many people dont like how he got there, not because he is rich but because he peddled some absolute junk products under the AMSTRAD brand. As a product designer my pride alone wouldnt let me design poor quality products so I for one beleive in the trust that must be at the forefront of every business.

I’ve been waiting for the full episode because I have loved Martin Lewis for years. I first heard him on The Jeremy Vine Show as a regular guest and just gelled with him, I can’t explain why nor does it matter. I don’t always follow his advice because it doesn’t always fit my circumstances but he has helped me out of some scraps to which I am very thankful. Due to my failure to acknowledge the red flags presented to me by my now ex I am paying off debt through a charity. I wouldn’t have even known that was possible if I hadn’t of heard it from Martin. I still have a way to go but it gave me hope when I had none.

I take my hat off to Martin without hesitation. Reality is the government and the banks of this country needs to be exposed big time. We’re being screwed over beyond belief. What amazes me is that we just carry on accepting the status quo of being shafted left right and centre and at every turn. Working hard for future security has long gone. Now work hard and end up with nothing to show for it!

at risk of sounding over dramatic, I struggle to think of anyone who has had a bigger impact in my financial life than Martin Lewis... when I was 16 we were shown his video explaining student loans, and how they arent traditional loans, and should be feared a lot less. That video changed my way of thinking, and was the deciding factor for me deciding to go to uni. When I got to uni, his money saving tips and bank switching advice helped me make enough to afford the cost of living, and now, Martins advice on savings accounts v ISA v premium bonds has helped me make decisions that have resulted in THOUSANDS in interest payments and growth. I am now almost in a position to put a deposit on a starter home. His friendly and accessible aproach to finances gave me the confidence to educate myself even further, and I now consider myself to be quite financially literate. I look forward optimistically to my future and its all thanks to Martin Lewis. Huge respect.

Channels that say "the bigger the subscriber count, the bigger the guests" (or something to that effect) don't have me hitting the buttons. I find it disrespectful to the guests you've had previously and plays into toxic celebrity culture which is messing up my generation. A great episode with a great guest today but let's not put individuals on an unnecessary pedestal. I know I'm just one person so me not subscribing is no drama, but perhaps others feel a similar way.

Dear Martin Lewis, I hope this message finds you and finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your incredible act of kindness in saving my life. Your decisive actions through your templates to take the banks to court were nothing short of heroic, and I am forever indebted to you.Your templates and guidance not only rescued me from a dire situation but totally turned my life around . I then went on to debt council others through CAP money. Today I am very happy and very successful. Many years have passed since the time I sued the banks but your act of kindness will never be forgotten, and I am profoundly grateful for everything you have done for me.Please know that your actions have made a significant impact on my life and I will always hold you in the highest regard. .With heartfelt appreciation, Geoff Gourd

He’s a household name and a true leader of the people. At 28, he’s inspired me - and being amongst a generation that feel lost of hope - I truly want to give back in a way that he does, for the individual. I always say that nuance is lost in a world so focused on the conformity. It’s the way education works and that is also, flawed. We truly need to celebrate the individual. We were born this way!

Common decency is the epitome of high performance. Thank you, Martin Lewis, for being an accountable member of society by being another passionate fighter for human decency. I'm a teacher. Schools are falling apart. Many teachers take on second jobs/ income streams in the UK to survive. I'm a single parent & can't afford to give much, but I always give as much as I can. I am very lucky that instead of having to sell second-hand items, I am able to give them away. That gives me endless happiness. I am lucky that every year, I can afford to take my son & I off for a one week static caravan holiday in Northumberland. I am lucky that if my class needs a resource to learn, if it's under £5 out of my monthly pay, I can afford to buy the resource that helps to educate our future. I am also fallible & unkind to myself. I eat to cope with my emotions. Healthy food is too bloody expensive at the moment, so I eat cheap shit food. I love making my own bread. I cook from scratch, but I also consume too much highly addictive ultra processed foods - how on earth is selling that shit legal... Grief - at any age for any reason is a tough gig. The guilt for feeling happy can be overwhelming but is an essential part of processing your grief. I wonder if that guilt is felt more acutely by decent people?
