@Harley-and-Her-Ruff-Riders
@Harley-and-Her-Ruff-Riders 3 года назад
@@AugustusFloop Almost every actor since 1975 have used cue cards. They're using them here - some timestamps below. You just don't notice because of the old, small stage. They moved to the current stage in 2003, which is like twice the size of the original. So the people with cue cards probably went from standing 10 feet away in 1975, to twenty or even more in 2003 with a lot more cameras in the way. I'm guessing they went from being able to stand pretty much where an actor's line of sight should be, to being stationary where ever they fit. Some people couldn't even read them before which probably got them booted off - like Farley. Nearsighted, dyslexic and color blind. He couldn't read them at all and did improve, which often didn't end well - like when Spade almost abandoned the sketch in the van by the river sketch. So most people use the cards, even if just to help them. Timestamps: 0:16 - he reads his line right from a card and only looks away to interact with the scene at the end 0:38 - Daniels looks past Elliot offscreen for 2 seconds, right before his line 1:40 - Sandler's eyes keep darting away from them to his right, and even his head moves a bit 1:48 - Daniels looks over Sandler's head for a couple seconds And I'm tired of looking, but it's easy with it full screen and top resolution. The skit is great, but they do use cue cards quite often. Meadows seems to be the only one who memorized them, which I don't understand how, considering how fast and rushed the writing process is.

I think they spend way too much time on re-writes today than back then. Back then movies were also often made faster. Now that doesn't mean it's always good, a lot of old sketches could have used more work, but it would have compromised their acting. Still, I think it's a good trade since a bunch of actors doesn't make it too obvious that they're reading cue cards and I think more sketches work as a result

I was born and raised in Atlantic City. I’m sure plenty of people still get drunk on MLK day but many also volunteer. I’m a social worker and it’s a popular day to give back. Love this skit though. Adam Sandler actually visited AC about two years ago and played basketball with a group of local kids. He’s awesome!

It is just me or they know their lines? it is really hard to tell if they are reading cue cards or not.
@DunmoresMovieMania
@DunmoresMovieMania 2 года назад
They always used cue cards, but just as backup. The actors always learned their lines. Nowadays, they use cards as the prime source of their lines; that's why they're always staring into space when they're supposed to be talking to each other. People are just more lazy and hubristic and spoiled rotten divas these days, blaming their hectic schedules for their lack of talent.
