As a european, I'm deeply fascinated by this man's ideas, that goes far beyond cultural difference. I'm reading his writings, and I'm deeply impressed how faith guided him but without fanaticism, obsession, nothing's ridiculous, he really was a free thinker and a man of good will. Deepest respect. If only we could have more man that understand what he, Gandhi, and others meant.
I saw Dr King in a dream once and I woke up with tears steaming down my face, he was a gift from God who had a love & compassion for all mankind and continues to inspire all who watch his speeches, peace
Amazing very great Rev. Pastor Martin Luther King...ever and forever in my heart ❤ R.I.P. in Heaven sweet and brave soul 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟❤❤❤ My best respect from Italy 🇮🇹
Dr . Martin Luther King Jr made achievement possible for all people. We all need to continue doing what is correct . Just treat everyone as equal. Prosperity will prevail . We appreciate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and his family.
Everytime I feel low and demotivated I listen to this and each time its still fresh as if its the first time am listening to it Its also sad how the world will never have people like him 😭
Every time there is someone inspirational who tries to unite people they kill him/ her. They've done it so many times, and the rest of us suffer in silence yearning for the next MLK. I thought it could be Obama but I was wrong then I thought it was AOC, I haven't heard from her in a while now.
Humanity never had such fighters for truth and justice like him. With him, we still stand and for equality. Be it black or white. His dream was to liberate his own and other victims. He was a true man spoke his heart out and impossible to see someone like him. A big salute sir!
Dr. King was called and anointed to do God's will through the HOLY SPIRIT. These preachers today are concerned with bigger churches, houses, material gain. Dr. Kings steps were ordered of GOD. Our Moses!!!!!
We shall overcome is one of many spirituals (religious songs) that were sung by slaves to keep their faith and express their pain. It is painfully ironic that such beautiful songs grew out of one of the most disgusting period in US history
I used to sing this song at James H. Bright Elementary 😢😢 this was back in 1990. Who would've thought, a Latino from 🇳🇮 Nicaragua in the 500 role models in Middle School early 90's and learning about Black History. #GodBlessEveryone this song took me back 😢😢 August 26,2020 - Thought of this song.
We shall continue to pay tribute & home to Dr MLK Jnr 4 his outstanding devotion to fight injustice non violently& the fact that he had to pay the ultimate price with his life on April 4th,1968.He died for a special cause & what he believed hence martyrdom beckoned for him.RIP truly man of God ,Dr MLK Jnr!.
"We Shall Overcome" is one of a number of "spirituals" (spiritual songs) sung by slaves on plantations throughout the south. This was recognized as a unique musical genre in the late 30's early 40's when many of the songs were incorporated into what we now would consider gospel music. It is painfully ironic that such beautiful music grew from one of the most disgusting, hurtful periods in United States history
Omg… while I was a bit too young to understand the depth of his speeches at the time he made them, I am overwhelmed with his vision and sunken low to find those same people he fought w love are still here w even more deviously evil plans, now open for all to see tho some remain blind. I miss his speeches. In miss his sincerity. I long for him or his students to return to us w his messages.
This coming April 4 will mark 45 years since the courageous and incomparable Dr. King was taken from us. It hurts my heart so very much to think about what could've been if he were still here but I'm so thankful for what he was able to accomplish in his too-short time here on Earth.
We shall overcome, We shall overcome, We shall overcome, some day. Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe We shall overcome, some day. We'll walk hand in hand, We'll walk hand in hand, We'll walk hand in hand, some day. Oh, deep in my heart, We shall live in peace, We shall live in peace, We shall live in peace, some day. Oh, deep in my heart, We shall all be free, We shall all be free, We shall all be free, some day. Oh, deep in my heart, We are not afraid, We are not afraid, We are not afraid, TODAY Oh, deep in my heart, We shall overcome, We shall overcome, We shall overcome, some day. Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe We shall overcome, some day.
The people of Hong Kong will overcome. We will overcome the fear and harm from the tyrant communist. We will fight for freedom. Fight against the barbaric regime. One day, we shall all be free. Stay strong Hong Kong.
We need to overcome the lack of respect towards one another the lack of love in the families the lack of communication the lack of maturity the lack of standing up to our rights open the government up its our rights we will not be quiet open up Washington and let our rights be heard no to the shutdown we had enough
@@davidjefferson4941 Oh yeah, I got the two mixed up lol. It was Malcolm X & GLR that had respect for each other. GLR apparently attacked MLK at some point
Songwriter finally gets her due for penning We Shall Overcome Expand February 12, 2020 at 4:54 pm EST By Mark Curnutte In 1962, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. came to Cincinnati to speak at a banquet for friend and fellow civil rights leader Fred Shuttlesworth. Hotels were filled, so Shuttlesworth, the pastor of Revelation Baptist Church in the West End, turned to his congregation's music minister for help. Louise Shropshire and her husband, Robert, founder and owner of Shropshire Bail Bonds, opened their Mount Auburn home to King. She served steak, greens and rice. "She could sing well, she could play well, she could cook well," Patricia Massengill, one of Shuttlesworth's daughters, recalled. And Louise Shropshire could write well - extremely well. What many people in her own church and city did not know then was that she enjoyed a national reputation as an accomplished composer of gospel music. Her most famous hymn, "If My Jesus Wills," is the likely source from which folk singer Pete Seeger derived the civil rights anthem "We Shall Overcome" when he first heard it sung by striking African-American tobacco workers in the late 1940s. The decades-long efforts to publicize Shropshire and her song received a big boost in recent weeks. A federal district court in New York on Jan. 26 oversaw a negotiated settlement that places "We Shall Overcome" in the public domain. The song is now free from six-figure rights fees that kept it from being heard in feature films and incomplete writing credit that shrouded Shropshire's key contribution to the civil rights movement, her supporters say. "We Shall Overcome," the song that helped to ignite and define the civil rights movement, the song that the Library of Congress labeled "the most powerful song of the 20th century," has itself been freed. "She wrote "If My Jesus Wills" to comfort her own broken heart," said her grandson, Robert A. Goins Shropshire, 52, a record producer living and working in the Los Angeles area. "It was not written to be harnessed or controlled. I think her hope would be for people to use it and never have to pay for it again." Louise Shropshire published "If My Jesus Wills" in 1942 and had it copyrighted in 1954. I'll overcome, I'll overcome, I overcome someday If my Jesus wills, I do believe, I'll overcome someday. Popularized by Seeger, Joan Baez and other folk singers, "We Shall Overcome" begins: We shall overcome, We shall overcome, We shall overcome, someday. Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe We shall overcome, someday.
LBJ: "Poverty, Ignorance, Disease" We Shall Overcome Me: If we are to make this world better, if we are to overcome these problems, we must overcome ourselves. We must overcome our greed, our fears, and our hatreds. But, as the song says, "I do believe, WE SHALL OVERCOME someday."
My brother said that Martin Luther King Jr is wrong and the people that voted for him you were right and he said he didn't mean nothing but and I love him but i said that he was right.
The social justice gospel is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus said He Overcame the world and through Him you have overcome the world when you believe in Jesus. You believe you shall overcome some day you have not believed in Jesus. That’s how satan teaches many to believe in a false hope. Martin has the opportunity to tell millions that you overcome through belief in Jesus but not once have I heard that yet but instead says we shall overcome someday.....
It is unfortunate that the civil right movement has been taken over by those who want big government. Please change the title to "Martin Luther King". It is not respectful to make the title "Martin luther king". Names are normally capitalized.
