After 6 years this video should have way more views than it does. These words still ring true today. Bless you Martin.

easily his most searing and penetrating speech, post his famous "I have a dream speech"...by '67 he had matured..and had seen the entrenched american power structure across the board, with its power oriented priorities were NOT about the Gospel and or human freedom/democracy as a national foreign policy... quite certain this is key reason that brought him his meeting in Memphis with his bullet and martrydom....

Truly inspirational speech. Someone who was not afraid to admit his country was wrong. Someone who stood up for the values of human beings. RIP Martin Luther King.

on behalf of Vietnamese people, thankyou Mr King who raised his voice spoke agaist Vietnamese war. I dont know why some Vietnamese people still believe that the American brought the revolution to our country and Vietcong is bad, And some American believe that They had fought for freedom in my country. how blinded are they? Many time i wonder and ask God why did he let that thing happen? The devil was behind the scene. I am Very sad to hear that the greatest hero of Nguyen Cao Ky is Hitler, and Americans supported him. Did the American bring revolution and freedom for our country? the war already passed, but the consequence still left, they are still suffered from toxin which American spread on the land. May God heal my country.

His speeches were very well-written. He can say simple things and make it so much more captivating. _“The hottest places of hell are reserved for those who, in a period of moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. There comes a time when silence is betrayal.”_

Everything he says is so true up to today.... Makes me cry every time when I realize so many people like to stand by their government even when wrong decisions have been made by it.

Next time you're told to be more like MLK by a pro-war conservative play this for 'em.

This man put his ideals and beliefs on the line in a extremely hostile, deadly environment. He artistcly, with bravery, spoke his heart. He was promoting, just liberties, rights for everyone. Not just rights for exploited minorities but rights for everyone. This man lyrically knocks it out of the park everytime he speaks!

Without a doubt, this is his best speech. It's still relevant today. Oh, how I wish people would remember THIS speech instead of that other one. :(

Dr. King, You will never die!

What a beautiful speech. And what's so chilling about it is how it transcends time. It's still applicable today. I shudder to think about how much his heart would ache to see what happens today, the things that are said today.

I thank God for listening to this speech in my life. I think I could have been so unhappy if I had passed through this mother earth without listening to this eternal philosophico-theological truth. Genius like Martin Luther King Jr are born once in a millennium. Bless your soul good man.

And which one are we taught in school today when we learn about MLK and the 60s - the view that was praised, or the view that was cursed?

We need this message today more than ever. MLK saw the futility of endless war.

What a world changer. His words continue to ring as true today as they did when he lived. This world needs another leader like him. A man who is not afraid to die for doing the right thing and speaking the truth. I am a product of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I thank God for his life & legacy.

Great speech from a great legend! I teach high school writing, and one of the things we do is rhetorical analysis, using SAT Essays as examples. This speech is one of these examples. When you analyze the logos (logic, reasoning), ethos (credibility, trust), and pathos (emotional appeal) of this speech you really get an understanding and appreciation of WHY Dr. King was such a phenomenal speaker.

i've never heard words so powerfully moving before, this man is the greatest ever. God, he's so right and it matchs our world today so perfectly still.

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real it’s impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

In times of great pain and confusion in this country, we must remember that courage and integrity moves people to greater times. The words of MLK must keep us grounded and purposeful at retaking our country back to the image in the liking of our founding fathers and visionary men like these. Keep your head up folks!

The truth must be told. He saw then what we still see today. I'm convinced that we must go through a revolution of values as well. I definitely agree with his stance on all of these issues. Anything less would be uncivilized.

Martin Luther King Jr had such a way to speak and to write, I read most a lot of different of essays written by him, and wow i am so impress on the way he writes. He was such a admirable person.

Greatest speech i've ever heard and truly inspiring. The will of god is to love every human being regardless of any petty excuse one can come up with, and it seems that king is one of the people who truly understands that.

there was a time i would have responded to ignorance and hate with more ignorance and hate but over the years and after associating with people of moral fiber and listening to this MAN i have grown. i now realize that the good news is for all men! and i thank GOD for Christ. yes, the ignorant that stoop to name calling too!

This is one of the most powerfull speeches ever given. In 1967, Dr King was already analyzing the war in south-east asia in a way that "official" history has not caught up with yet (and most likely never will). Truely inspirational. The only sad part is that he deemed it necessary to pack political and human truths in religious terms in order to get his message across.

It is a real shame to read such foolish comments in regard to the awesome truth Dr. King has revealed in this speech. Instead of addressing such stupidity, I am so impressed with the character and courage of a real American that loved his country so much. We are a lost country and when the masses remain silent in face of tremendous disparity, between the rich and the poor, one can only hope that God's mercy stays with us. I think we all need to take a part and do all that we can do to fight for right peacefully, Only together can we make a difference. Black and white, Arab and Buddhist, we should all work together combining all that is good in our cultures and teachings, and work unitedly to solve the problems in the world. Dr. King's views on the war in Vietnam together with Ghandi's views on peaceful resistance are the kind of views that can change the world. We can fight for peace on the internet with info.

Damn wish I listen to all the MLK speeches in school. I only heard the “I have a dream speech” while in school. This speech and many more are inspiring and necessary given the relevance they have today in our economic system and political system in my opinion.

Ho Chi Min was in Paris in 1919 an brought home with him thousands of copies of the US constitution translated into Vietnamese. Ho Chi Min loved America. He loved the idea of the American revolution. America, however, still did not love non-whites governed by whites (the French) and so when Ho Chi Min asked America for help getting independence from France he was told that Americans valued race more than principle. Ho Chi Min only turned to Moscow for the liberation of his people because they were the only world power willing to help him after America told him to go screw. On a side note ... there is nothing wrong with communism. Unless you own vast properties, resources and companies, being anti-communist is a synonym for the word fool.

I wonder why this never turned into a lasting people’s movement. Oh, right, they killed him.

This was a man of peace, justice and true vision. This is my favorite of all his speeches. Dr. King,how I wish you were alive today. We need your wisdom morethan ever before.

He was a global intellectual. He will always be my hero. This is a lane that he was not supposed to be in? The power structure expected him to stay in his black preacher and civil rights lanes. Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael) stated that he did not know that Dr. King was going to speak out this strong regarding Vietnam. Dr. King listened to the young people expressing their concerns about America's hypocrisy when it came to Vietnam and black people's struggles in this country. When he stated that this government was the “greatest purveyor of violence in the world,” it made him public enemy #1 to the power structure in Washington. President LBJ reportedly remarked “What is that goddamned n word preacher doing to me?" Lastly, replace Vietnam in this speech for Iraq or Afghanistan and one will find how relevant this speech is today!
