He's a very intelligent man. Love listening to him. I wonder if he every thinks what his life would have been if he'd ended up as a lawyer, instead of a successful footballer and manager.
I remember seeing Bestie walking down the Kings Rd in 1990 around 11am pissed with a huge grin on his face followed by two stunning woman about 10 feet behind clearly with him, he looked fantastic, where did it all go wrong lol
Martin once recalled one of the great moments of his career was when Barcelona gave Forest a guard of honour as they walked out at Nou Camp, in hounour of their incredible first European Cup. Forest knocked them out on the night on the way to their second cup.
I met Martin in Scotland and had a lovely chat with him, a true gent and a clever and articulate man, I’m from Northern Ireland myself and remember Martin playing for my dads team distillery in his early career, scored a legitimate goal for us against France in our famous run in Spain but it was disallowed couldn’t have a wee team like norn iron beating Spain and then France fifa couldn’t have that oh no, does it sound like I’m still bitter, good at least it’s been proven that the football hierarchy are fools just look where tomorrow’s World Cup kicks off, rant over I’m off for a Guinness to soothe my furrowed brow
Martin- I was at that game vs Spain ( 1-1 ) and I thought you played well when you came on. I have all the autographs of the Northern Ireland squad : Pat Jennings,David Craig,Pat Rice, Sammy Nelson, Alan Hunter, Terry Neill,Dave Clements,Eric Mc Mordie, Sammy McIlroy, Bryan Hamilton, Iam McFaul , Sammy Morgan ,( who you mentioned) and of course George Best. I even remember you playing for Distillery in the Irish League while you were a student at Queens.
