HI MARTIN. MY WIFE IS DYING. THE LAST FOUR DAYS I WATCH ONE OF YOUR MOVIES BEFORE I GO TO THE HOSPITAL. I FIND THEM A PLEASANT AND SOOTHING ESCAPE FROM MY REALITY. THANK U TAKE CARE GARE
I just stumbled across your videos and subbed after the first one. I can tell you are a quality person and a mans man. The world needs many more people like you. Thank you for making these videos.
You have an idylic setting. Love all the snow outside. Your cabin is set up nicely. You must be in good health to enjoy a life so remote. Hope you have many more years of "cabin fever" left !!
Fantastic video. So enjoyable watching these. They keep the fire burning inside of me to keep moving forward with my dreams of the same. Thanks so much for posting them!
"From the Durango, it's a 3 mile hike back to the comfort of the wood stove". Then, the very next frame is you outdoors in a lawn chair enjoying a balmy -25. Keep on keeping on. Great vids. Thank you from Canada.
I can see you are a deep man and a follower of Jesus. Please don't let young heads of mush discourage you brother. Maybe through your patient example he will learn to be grounded. I have a cabin in the elk mountains, Oregon, however I live in Texas. I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you for taking the time to pass down your knowledge. Larry
I so look forward to your videos. Very interesting life at the cabin. I'll never experience that life in person so I enjoy it thru your shows. Thank you.
Funny how popular that video was. My neck was killing me and I was not having a good time with being holed up like that. My wife even said "Why did you bother making that."
Sir, I sure do like your channel. Very good content and explanations about what your doing/did and such. I surely do hope I am able to be as active as you when I'm a bit older. Your passion and drive to continually improve your cabin and those 3 mile treks out to Durango sure do keep you in shape! Thanks again..
Watched your videos a lot. Couple days ago our family lost our brother and these really help me relax. Recently purchased my land in northern Wisconsin and my plan is to construct something similar. Really wanted for him to be able to come up and enjoy it with me and we talked about it quite a bit. Knowing it wont happen now it will bring peace the times I get to spend up there will definitely have him close in my heart. Thank you for these videos.
I definitely will. Planning on doing something for him by planting a few pines that will make great nesting spots for our feathered friends. I know that's how he will come back to visit me and let me know everything is ok. The peacefulness of your videos sure have helped me relax through all of this I must say. Keep up the great videos we sure enjoy them.
I really enjoy your videos Martin. Please keep them coming. I was born and raised in the north woods of Minnesota and the snow on the pines take me home again. :)
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 When I get around to building a new cabin, it will have 5 or 6 foot porch with the roof over it to keep the snow from piling up against cabin... Roof and porch will go all the way around cabin for protection...
Another beautiful video. The grey Jays look like our snow Jays that live up above us at 5000' . It Takes awhile to earn thier trust. Thanks again and may the Lord bless you and your house in Jesus name.
it is so nice to see your videos. I have had a dream for years to have a place deep in the woods like a rustic cabin like yours. I will never be able to live that dream so seeing your videos gives me a brief opportunity to live that dream for a moment. Please keep them coming, they bring me great joy...
Thank you so much for the comment. I realize there are many that would love such an experience so I do my best to show on the videos the pure joy that can me enjoyed in such a special place.
That is just beautiful. You are too cute out staying healthy in those low temps! I am going back to my Cabin very soon. I cannot wait to live there again! At age 61 now - it is time to enjoy life! ty for sharing your wonderful Vids!
In the north they say there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. A few layers with wool on the outside and the temps can be really cold and you are OK.
Sir, you are one tough old dude. Words cannot express my admiration. I'm a bit younger than you, and couldn't even follow you around all day, much less do the work you do. I can't help but regret that I haven't followed my dreams of living the life you do. You and JC Desclos make me ashamed I have yet to follow my dream.
Great video I live down in southeast Texas I can almost throw a rock and hit the Gulf of Mexico the scenery at ur cabin is beautiful and looks very peaceful and quiet.
Martin, I watch a lot of off grid u tube videos but by far yours is the best. My wife and I have bought land in the mountains of New Mexico hoping to build our cabin soon. Keep up the good work.Keep your health up.Joe and Kipy
Feels kind of strange watching this beautiful video from my boring old West Hollywood (Calif) home. I really enjoyed the beauty and simplicity of your mountain cabin. Thank you
That would be on the opposite ends of the housing spectrum. The simplicity of the cabin is one of the things I like the most. On a similar note I find real pleasure living out of a canoe for weeks at a time. When you want to move on everything is quickly loaded up and you paddle on.
This is - and always has been - my dream!😃 A tiny home - goodbye to all that darned housework! Warm and cosy - 'snug as a bug in a rug' And hopefully - no-one, knows where you are!😈 Pure heaven!
Never exploded on youtube ....(views)....but still keeps on doing his stuff!!!.....I have a lot of respect for you my friend!!!!.....Hope your doing well healthwise!!....peace and love for the wildlife!!!.....and a clean planet for everyone!!
i thourally enjoy your videos. i myself have and enjoy a cabin in the woods ,watching your videos make me want to get back to mine .its nice to be able to enjoy such things .thanks for the great videos keep up the good work
Alaska, you are so lucky, you're living a dream I've had since I was a kid. I love the outdoors and go every chance I get. Ever since I used to watch the Grizzley Adams series. You have a beautiful place and I'm glad I discovered your videos and can't wait to watch the others. Thanks so much for taking the time to make them.
Wow. West Tennessee has such mild weather compared to "up north". Our summer gets pretty hot and humid but winter is like your spring. Thanks for sharing your cabin.
That is the goal, to get back up there for as many years as possible. Two of the four original partners have passed on so I am thankful for every visit.
I enjoyed this view of cabin life in such extremely cold climate. I live in Fort Lauderdale and consider it ruff the few times it gets down to 50 f. at night.
Goodness gracious! Much too cold for this southern boy. Cabin looks mighty good with that new foundation and all those indoor improvements. You've got a good life going on up there, thanks for sharing a little of it with us.
Well if I could make some suggestions, just some documentary of your daily life, what you do all day, that kind of thing. What tools and equipment you use and why you chose those, e.g. skis, guns, how you use the stove, etc. That would be great.
Sir...My hat is off to you! I live in Maine. A rural area that i love very much, I hope as the years go by that i maintain as well as you have! I have always been an outdoors men, hunting, fishing, logging and just enjoying life in these here woods of Maine. I will be 50 yrs old next January...and you are a great inspiration...Thanks for sharing & caring to take the time for these great videos! p.s. subscribed & will be checking in!
Thanks, I am so thankful for good health and being able to keep at it up there. I have lost two many friends to things they could have never prevented.
I watch videos of winters in cabins and hot tents and my heart swells like crazy. Not sure it will come to fruition for me but this is my dream. You have a great looking place. Thank you for sharing.
Never give up on your dreams. I'm from Florida and now live in the ozarks. We did 4 years off grid. Currently living back on grid have an 8month old boy can't wait to get back home though watch him take in the view for the first time.
Martin, this video made my day. Thanks!!! My inlaws have a cabin in the north woods of Wisconsin. We have spent many cold days there but when the temps hit the -30's we hunker down inside and enjoy the wood stove. :-)
I don't think I can stay alone in the cabin like that, I'm too of a chicken.. every twigs that breaks, every howls I hear at night will give me the goose bump... heck I still sleep with the lights on and my wife's hates it... U sir are brave... hats off to u....
I think we build our trust with practice and time spent in situations. Coming to understand that nothing out there even wants to be near a human being helps me put it aside.
I get it. I live in a third floor apartment in a small, northern city. Late morning temperatures have been in the single digits and teens lately. I've been having my first cup of coffee outside on my balcony while watching the traffic in the snow and enjoying the bony bareness of the trees.
Thanks, I usually bank all four walls with snow but wanted to enjoy my new foundation so left the front exposed. It is tighter than before so no problem keeping in warm with the fire on low.
That sure does look cozy. Would love to have something similar someday. Just found your channel and am looking forward to seeing more videos. Thanks for sharing.
My home I sold in 2000 was built in 1905. When I tore the old wall paper off in the living room it was beautiful old shiplap wood and plank wood. I left it just as was. That home was like a undiscovered old relic waiting to be found again. When I tore the old gas fireplace out, I found the original fireplace. Sort of figured it was there from looking at the outside chimney.
'mornin, Martin; This is the way I love to start my AM. Fresh coffee brew'n on the stove cold as a witches breath outside & All toasty with ya in the Cabin. Another Top-Notch video, Martin. Thanks so much for making my day. Stay-Frosty Friend. ATB Terry God Bless
