I'm a black African American woman and I grew up in Chicago with 5 siblings. We were poor until we grew up went to college and got my Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Too much crime in the streets now. I get sick and tired of the violence and the racist going on in the world today. Watching you in this video means a lot to me and you have inspired me to live in the woods. Things are so peaceful and pretty in the woods and I'm thinking hard about doing the same. I get tired of all the bills and taxes on my property and I don't have any clue into how to build my cabin and house . ❤❤❤❤ You're amazing 🤩🤩🤩
Like many people in the world including me, you did well for yourself and worked hard only have your life disrupted by The craziness that is going on. The world is a danagerous evil place. It’s very sad.
Thanks, Kyle I grew up wanting a cabin in Alaska never made it spent 36 years doing railroad construction. Now I'm 70 and your RU-vid always bring a tear to my eyes, thank you Kyle
I tell my kids all the time what you want is so different then what you need. Simple living debt free , stress free. I love your style and your message ! Merry Christmas too you and the fam.
I’m in NW Pa and well it’s - 6 plus very windy had some frozen up pipes I had to thaw after sunset, not much snow just very windy. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas thanks for keeping us posted Adam.
Great cabin. I would add some heavy curtains on your windows. Amazing how much heat gets lost thru a window. You can get great deals at a thrift store. You could even use a lightweight quilt, attach shower hooks and put them on a pole or old broom handle.
Stroop, you are spot on. I'm a PA guy who has done winter "camping" in the mountains like this for decades. It's not easy, it's about hard work and being prepared.
Kyle, you’re a GREAT example to all ages. You’re certainly not afraid of hard, hard work. Too many people of all ages want the “easy” life, regardless of what it cost. Please continue making videos and please continue to encourage people to do what you do every day and it can be enjoyable. Good night from Texas!
I thought I was invincible once upon a time. I still lift heavy objects because my back can take it. But advice from my 82 year old neighbor....do what ever you can to make it easier on your body. He smoked, welded, very physical. But he is always happy. Happy is the key to longevity. Be happy.
Happy is an attitude. It's a state of mind. And it's free or can be. Happy is more than stuff. Laugh, live and if you're lucky or think about it you find or create love. And think, make a pot of soup and a bologna sandwich. How much do we all really need? Well,....some clean underwear, some friends and soles on your shoes and good thoughts in your soul. Love and Cheers. Ya'all be nice now ya hear!
It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s ru-vid.comUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.
I came across your videos the other day, this is maybe the third or fourth one I've watched. Seeing a young man happy makes me happy for you. I've been a stone mason my whole life, still working full time and I'll be 61 in a couple months. Its good for you to work hard and live simple. I'm not sure how to say this without sounding critical but you need some nice looking stone underneath and behind your wood stove! I know a guy if you decide you want some stone 😉 Keep up the good work! I subscribed to your channel, I don't watch tv but I check out RU-vid a lot.
When great people do great things it’s because they have that passion that gives them that drive to do so. I would think that’s why you’re Channel does so good. It’s great to see someone do things old school at your age and move forward on a positive note. Keep up the good work.
I watch your videos from beginning to end. I told my wife we are getting a cabin in the woods. She agreed as long as the woods borders Target. Tell Sierra we missed her. Keep the videos coming, please.
(Tom here.) Kyle, l appreciate your ideas of how to get back to the basics, sir!!! Yes, if more people would do what you are doing, they would feel better about themselves and gain the feeling of true accomplishment!!!! Thank you for showcasing that attitude toward hard work and it's reward(s). May GOD continue to bless you, Cierra and Skeeter as you build your new lives in the outback!!!! Take care and be careful out there, sir!!
Kyle, I so enjoy the simplicity of the life style you live. You are honest, truthful and unpretentious. I’m so glad l found you and Cierra! Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year 🎉.
I don't know what it is Kyle, but I really enjoy watching people hand sawing, chain sawing, chopping with an axe,and wood carving. It's so relaxing to watch so thank you for sharing your life with us👍👍👍🥰😍♥️
I had snow issues east of the eastern Mississippi River watershed extent. Came out of a cave and found a blizzard with white-out conditions that made vehicle travel too hazardous. I retreated to my underground camp happy to escape the freezing weather. The cave air was in the mid-50's, Never got hungry enough to go swallow a Troglodyte.
This guy actually got the BLIZZARD everyone was talking about. Seems they over exaggerated “blizzard” here in Indiana we got about an inch and a half. I heard predictions said as much as 8 inches. The videos are awesome keep it up
Blizzard isn't defined by snow amount it's a definition of visibility mainly less than a quarter mile visibility for 3 hours or more and winds excess of 35mph... In the right conditions a dry 2 inches of snow can lead to blizzard conditions.... The killer traditionally of blizzards was getting lost then freezing to death in the old days farmers would tie a rope from the house to the barn and privy because people died by getting lost walking 50 to 100 feet...
I've been in -45 in Alaska by the Arctic Circle. There was no wind-chill just the temperature. I took my gloves off for a mini second and my fingers nearly froze. The pain was pretty brutal too. It was a beautiful night. I did get to see the Aurora and millions of stars in the sky. What an experience that was.
Fun to watch, Kyle! I hope you and Cierra and Skeeter and Kitty have a lovely holiday! I'm glad to see you guys warm and safe. I made sure my kiddos were listening when you spoke on the way folks have done things for ages. I can't imagine how many times I tell them things like that, but it's good for them to hear it from as many different role models as they can! Again, happy holidays, stay safe, and keep on keeping on! Thanks for all that you do.
Beautiful Snow-laden trees, Glad that you were warm in the cabin. Keep a stockpile of firewood....as an older Mother, I have tendencies to be sure everyone is ok and prepared! Happy Holidays to You and Cierra🌲❣💚
It finally quit snowing here in Minnesota. Now, the winds are causing white-outs and half our roads and highways are shut down or impassable right now! Oh, and it hasn't been above -8F for a week, wind chills -45F! Stay warm!
You are great Kyle. I hope a lot of young people and parents watch this. The ole' ways of doing things are coming back. They are good for us and also feed our heart and soul. Merry Christmas!
As always, great video. I'm saving for a nice little chunk of land so I can finally start the off grid process. Thank you for your continued inspiration brother. Keep em coming!
Merry Christmas, Kyle. Good wholesome content is hard to find these days. Your hard work is appreciated by so many people just because it is so rare to see you not taking the easy way, atv, tractor, chainsaw. Love your videos
Merry Christmas Kyle. All the best to you and your family. Keep doing what you’re doing with this channel. It’s wholesome, simple and true to its roots, which makes me love this channel all the more. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
I love your Videos Kyle!! so refreshing to see a young man like yourself living the way that I believe life should be. We all need to get back to the basics and experience life the way it should be!! Hard work is not only good for the body it feeds your spirit and keeps the mind healthy! I hope you both have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! Be strong and proud of all your accomplishments!!
If you really believed that you wouldn’t be commenting on RU-vid videos. Everyone wants to get back to basics until it’s time to take away all modern conveniences.
I agree coming from a small town and growing up on a farm definitely takes me back to basics. My buddies and I used to camp all the time on the farm, I’d give anything to go back to those days. By the way there was Annette Marshal that lived on that farm next to the one we camped on. Haha not a common name that’s for sure.
You sure said it when you said this is a great lifestyle Kyle. We love it too and sharing it is part entertainment and part education. Getting away from the “stuff” in life is amazing. Merry Christmas to you, Skeeter, Cierra and all your families. 🎄🧑🎄🤶
I love following your adventures. You come across well in talking to your audience. Love Skeeter. Survival skills should be taught in every school. It frightens me to think that kids today who are so reliant on tech couldn't survive when the grid goes down. Take care! Cheers from Canada.
Loving your videos and your positivity. It's a great way to approach life. I live in a city, but I live very minimalistic. People think we don't have much money, but we just choose to live simply. There are other things to enjoy in life than the gadgets and trappings of modern living.
I love your cabin!!! Do you ever stay for several nights in a row at the cabin in winter? I love that whole hunter-gatherer vibe! Merry Christmas to you and your gorgeous doggy!!! 🎅🎄⛄️❄️💨🥶🎶🎶🎶❤️🤗🇨🇦
Love your videos, as they are examples of how it's done. I like how you show when you need wood, you go and look for a tree that has fallen & already has dry wood. The dry, already seasoned by nature, wood burns better. If green wood is used it will cause build up in the chimney, which will start a fire in the chimney & could burn down the cabin if you don't catch it. And we wouldn't want that to happen the coldest night where one could get frost bitten. Hope your chickens & ducks are ok. I liked the one time when you brought your chickens inside from the cold. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas to you, Ceirra & Skeeter. Take care.
G day from Australia Kyle. I really enjoy watching your channel. I love the idea of living remotely and simply and I am always amazed by your building and other skills. Your philosophy of turning physical homestead tasks and chores into fitness activities shows a wisdom way beyond your years. All the best for Christmas and the New Year.
I just spent 4 days without power in -20 weather using a gennie and firewood. Gosh darn it its alot of work keeping house warm. Lotta respect for you guys. I waz exhausted.
I love watching your channel. Thank you for doing it and taking us all along to enjoy the beauty of the wilderness and to enjoy the cabin you built. You should be proud it's a wonderful place I could live out my days in for sure. Merry Christmas to you and your family, God Bless
Very inspiring. Especially about staying in shape and living naturally without the ATV’s, machinery, etc Thank you for the upload. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Kyle been watching you for a long time from Lakes Region Maine and have a lot to respect for your hard work and lifestyle! From an old retired guy Thanks for the awesome videos! Nice escape from this crazy world we live in. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year!! 👍👍👍
I love your sentiment! Great to learn about using snow as an insulation. I love learning about your lifestyle, even the simple, everyday things. Hope you are warm right now with that crazy storm! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I enjoy watching your videos with your projects as well as just living the simple lifestyle. I have so much respect for you with your work ethic and your calmness is all situations. I'm just amazed what you can do by yourself. Merry Christmas from Wisconsin Kyle & Cierra, and Skeeter too.
Well, they do say that the man who cuts his own firewood gets warm ed twice ! Nice video, I am a little jealous , that cabin is lovely, everything you need, not much you dont.
Hoping your staying warm Kyle! I'm in Wright Hennepin and this week has been brutal, but I know you guys got it even worse. I love the videos and really enjoy watching skeeter live the good life. Be safe
Kyle, not sure if anyone mentioned it but you could get yourself a collapsible roof rake. You could easily remove the snow from the roof, which will allow those icicles to be eliminated in no time. Also, you could use the snow that has fallen from the roof to buffer around the cabin.
Respect for doing things by hand and working hard, I'm sure your ancestors appreciate it. Not to mention running a chainsaw alone in the backcountry is dangerous anyway, I'd say the good ol' fashioned way is the best route here. Keep up the good work
Great video Kyle! I/we agree and support your philosophy! We live in Fort Collins Colorado & I’m also building a cabin in the mountains(we have a little land-3acres). I worked in Alaska for 5 years when I was in my 20’s & love the outdoors!! Keep up the great videos & Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you also!!
Your videos bring much joy to so many. The simple things are what most are missing I feel. It take hard work and allot of effort and that may scare some. 100% agree your lifestyle over being a gym rat any day. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Cierra!
Kyle, I'm stoked the cabin held up well in that cold snap... thick snow around the crawl space and snow on the roof looked to definitely help. Merry Xmas to you and yours! 🎅🎄🤶
I'll tell you what you need, Kyle. Exactly what you're doing! Minimal distractions makes for better living. Focus on what you are doing and forget about the outside world. Not the outdoor world, just the world that doesn't understand you. You're doing what I wish I would've done 20 years ago. I understand northern Minnesota. That's where I'm at. Regrettably not off-grid. This weather is horrible on modern conveniences. The CV axel blew out in my truck and the charging system in my wife's Yukon is having issues. I'm still digging away at the snow in our area. Good luck to you! May God watch over you and bless all your efforts! Merry Christmas to you, Ciera and Skeeter. And your little kitty.
