Marty says he's not good with words before giving a better speech in Japanese than I've ever heard a native English speaking musician give in their own language lol
Hope I did it correct 00:05 風が吹いている 05:25 千本桜 09:44 負けないで 13:20 Marty is talking 15:40 紅蓮華 22:00 ELIXER 28:08 WHITEWORM 32:46 DRAGON MISTRESS 37:40 Marty introducing his band and their home regions 41:40 Chargeeeee drum solo 45:35 雪の華 54:24 FOR A FRIEND 58:18 Don't Dream It's Over(feat. His name is Naoki Morioka... He has a lot of covers in Insta Most of those are better than the actual songs.. Very clean player... He also has a fantastic version of Chopin Fantasy Etude on YT
A friend visited me today just as Saturation point was on. He said hi and then paused for almost a minute in fascination :) This guy. I mean.... You just want to hug him and say thanks for everything.
This fucking rocks. Marty is so unique, can't really compare him to anybody. and as a solo artist, his songs and interpretations don't feel like other "metal guitar" albums, it feels musically more like a cello or violin virtuoso interpreting melodies and pushing the instrument further in an artistic way and not just in a technical way. His playing is so emotional energetic and fun, just love Marty! Also this band is brilliant!
The melodies are not too impressive because it never ventures anywhere outside its chordal movement very much except the odd chromaticism's. The chords are the usual suspects and I would expect a fair bit more with some modal mixing at least. The drums are too noisy and it aint the tightest package. I know this could of been much better and not the circle of fifths predictable stuff. Its like having hotdogs without the condiments and a flat coke instead of root beer. There is the great exception with the Crowded House song ''Dream Its Over'' which is a beautiful song indeed and played beautifully but then Marty ruined that part.
Right hand technique insane with the string skipping, shuffle rhythms. 4:25. Specifically, the three notes descending to lead in to the next measure, precisely at 4:48. Chef's kiss
To everyone in the comments saying the audience is too quiet - Marty specifically asked them not to shout and to clap their hands instead. Which they did
His early stuff with Jason Becker was very good. Their styles blended so well and there was unexpected chords going on too. These days I don't like the melodies and some of the incessant noodlings.
Reminds me alot of Aaron Marshall from intervals. Obviously Marty is an og but they both don’t just write music just to shed, they play catchy melodies to the fill the same need vocals would have.
He used to write a lot of video game music.. For Sonic (Black Knight) Bravely Default Monster Hunter... There are videos of him performing with these bands ig
Esta viviendo en Japón,y los chicos que tocan con el son de allá,habla el idioma como nadie, excelente eso es tener estilo vanguardista,un músico de ese nivel, son pocos, pasan por Japón,solo eso, Congratuletion 💪
Really great Concert! Thanks a lot! And i was like WTF!?! do my ears realize when they played the intro song of the anime Demon Slayer at 15:40, awesome!
Marty is so unique ! How is it possible to be so creative, so melodic since i discovered his collab with Jason Becker, then with Megadeth and twenty years later always so amazing. This guy is a pure genius, his notes touch the souls. It seems simple but whouaou completely unplayable as he play. Definitively my favorite metal guitarist.
Okay, please down take me too literally here. I came here for Marty Friedman, but the longer I watch this MASSIVE collection of talent and skill on the stage (and on the screen from Brazil) the more I keep watching the drummer. His raw energy and obvious joy reminds me of Taylor Hawkins - the flying blonde hair just reinforces the image. Yeah, I know - completely different kind of music, and owing to that, CHARGEEEEE is probably more technically proficient. But I still think he and Taylor would have had a blast in a drum-off. Oh, and Long Live JASON BECKER!
What an amazing concert. Marty is an absolute legend. He is the sole reason I started playing guitar many years ago when he was in megadeth! Even bought myself a jackson kelly like him as my first guitar. :) I absolutely adore marty's guitar playing and his band. Didn't expect to hear such wise words at a concert, amazing stuff Marty. Hopefully one day I can have 10% of your incredible talent.
Great show.. you can tell Marty would like the crowd to be a bit more into it with louder input and he's always prompting for interaction which is so fun to watch.
What a great performance! It's not only about music, it was a great deal of positive energy, wisdom and friendship among the band members. I'm looking forward to seeing them one day in my country! If they don't come I will see them in Japan, somewhere in the future :)
this is a very good band - evryone is quite talented (drummer and guitar players are machines!), the songs have melody, what's not to love? bravo marty! you're doing good^^
Simplemente exquisito, me alegra demasiado ver a Marty haciendo lo que el más quiere con libertad, aunque a muchos todavía nos gustaría verlo de vuelta en magadeth
.. Marty was fascinated by Japanese way, back when he was in Megadeth. Mustaine would "joke" that whenever they touched down in Japan (while touring), Marty would called on one or the other of his Japanese contacts/acquaintants and spoke with 'em in fluent Japanese. So, be had that Japanese thing since long back👍. Keep on Rocking, Marty 🎸🤘😍...
I knew Marty could speak Japanese but it's still really cool to see him actually bust it out. Like, how's he know the word for "blister"? Cool show, though. He is one heck of a guitar player.
