I remember Marty saying that Tony Pulu was such a hard hitting boxer. Marty said he was so glad when the fight was over. He said, "Baby, I was just not prepared for how hard Tony Pulu could punch! I was glad to get out of there!"
Hi Jean I was one of Marty close friends. He use to call me little brother even though I was older then him. He told me he meant size not age. I had a lot of fun with him and will never forget him. I use to come with him to pick you up from work sometimes my name is Earnest McClellan. You had a yellow Mercedes and Marty had a Gray one right? Don't know if you remember me but I do you. You were a School Teacher and Marti's manager back then. I was just showing my wife all of Marti's fights. Don't know if you will get this seeing as it has been eight years since your post. Just wanted to let you know someone thinks about Marty and he is not a forgotten fighter.
Wow! I was so so blessed by this fight! I had NEVER seen it! Marty Monroe was the man of my dreams, the one I married and had my only child with. I became Marty's manager---and later his promoter. We had a wonderful time together in the boxing business---as "solid gold" partners!!!
Jean Dancy how's Marty Jean, he was my trainer for a short time in the late 80s and 108th and broadway ..hope he's doing well ..i remember when you lived in hollywood, gave him a ride a few times
Hi jean I don't know if you remember me but your husband Marty Monroe along with his two brothers trained me back in the day in the 80s I was at your house many times I was the big white dude at that time I was probably 18 years old just wanted to pay homage to Marty and his whole family they really took care of me and I miss him all the time
