Most of the artists trying to stay true to their diehard country roots may be in Bluegrass or gospel or both. Artists like Mo Pitney, Josh Turner, Marty Stuart and some more. George Strait and Alan Jackson too.
People seem to think that because someone puts a few good songs they can automatically go into the Hall of Fame, if it was that easy then it would just be a joke. There is criteria and it isn't decided by the Board, they have to follow that criteria, look it up.

What ever happened to REAL country music like this?? Seems now days its just a bunch of pop singers disguised in cowboy hats trying to sing twangy calling themselves country. I don't buy it. I miss real country. Would the brass in Nashville stop this trend and start signing real country artist again.
I could listen to this country music all day. I have a lot of it, 211 LP albums, tapes and cd's all country. I'm 75 years old, so I know what country should sound like. grew up in a musical family, all country, and some pretty good singers, Shay of Dan and Shay is one of my cousins. really proud of him and Dan.

The reason country has suffered so much is that record companies want models as singers, whose songs are tossed out like corn flakes. No real country personalities like there used to be, its all about plastic black cowboy hats and blonde hair now. Pretty pathetic.
Pretty pathetic? I disagree - it's woefully pathetic. Country still has personalities but they're playing county fairs. The mainstream acts, trash like Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and some of the hat-only male singers, dominate air play on stations that are country by name, not by deed. If you want to see country up close and personal and even a little off key, head to the Opry in Nashville. No pretenders there, at least not as many.
It's very simple really the new stuff is mostly shit . Simple as . Only for gill and paisley and Mason and a few more country is a sinking ship . Marty Stewart has a savage band and gill and Paul Franklin but when Alan Jackson and George strait and the boys park it up country will be in real bad shape .

this is real country music, I really miss this kind of music, it is just been ruined. If you don't have a fiddle, steel guitar and banjo, it's just another rock and roll band.

I swear this is the truth... I went to see Marty Sturart In Merrillville Indiana. After the concert there was a crowd around his bus...I walked to the front, the door to the bus opened...I walked in. This is awesome, my wife and I just got back from Nashville. We took the studio B tour and Tami I took a picture of her sitting at that piano. We also saw Marty at the Grand Old Oprey. Anyone who can should take a vacation to Nashville if you love country music. It's wonderful.

Those 2 are something else together love hearing them sing. They really get into the song they sing . Have always liked both. Never have saw Travis but I have Marty. Two great country singers that one thing for sure you never will have to wonder if either one of them will ever stay country because they sure will. There is no country anymore. I had the pleasure and priveledge of seeing Marty perform back in 1993. He put on a fantastic show, and even kept going when it started to thunderstorm, consummate professional that he is. Underrated and awesome...one of my favorite country artists.
