I really like Travis' music from about 1989-1996. His career has been waning the past few years, but he has an impressive catalog of hits. In 1989 it all started for him with his hit "Country Club." I love how he mixes Southern Rock with country. He has many good up-tempo songs as well as ballads.
My wife and I saw Travis Tritt in concert a few years ago in Owensboro, KY. He was by himself, and played every song solo. Best concert we ever attended. He is fabulous!
I played this song for my ex wife when she was trying to get back to me after she lost the kid and the divorce. I found someone who makes me happy and loves me who I am. She also loves my kid as one of hers and glad she gave me a chance after eighteen years and she is my favorite bartender.
This songs never gets old.Sometimes folks forget what they have done and this song can remind them. I keep that Quarter handy. You ain't hurting me no more.
Communications control to over throw freedom is eliminating the very need for quarters this song represents. New generation's will have no idea what this means. Sad
I was 3 months pregnant with my son when my ex-husband left me and this song had just came out. The night before court on the divorce my ex-husband came and begged me to take him back. I still love this song.
I know Garth was the most successful one of the bunch, but I think Travis was the best thing that ever derived from that late 80s - early 90s country explosion.
A very simple statement that just defined the essence of country music. Deep sadness , happiness for being freed from a toxic relationship and moving on with your life and it didn't say anything about momma or trucks or trains or getting drunk. Excellent song sung by one of country's greatest.

This man is a freakin all time country hero. Travis your music is as just relevant today as yesterday in country music. Accept for payphones. LUV YOUR MUSIC BRO!!
"Well I made myself a promise, when I ws just a kid, I'd mix southern rock and country, and that's just what I did." Travis is no doubt underrated and he deserves to be in the spotlight much more than most of those who are on the charts today. See him in concert if you can. He is the most charismatic performer I have seen and he loves performing, you can tell.
I've been wanting to see this man live since I was about 7 years old, maybe younger!! Maybe it'll happen, maybe not...but a girl can dream!! 😭🙏😂❤ He's my FAVORITE & ALWAYS will be!! 😍❤🙌

I cannot count the times I have had this experience, and I've always thought of this song. It works for all crappy relationships - walk away and don't let them have power over you anymore. Stick with those who stick with you.
@@travistritt-xp2gd I have been a fan of yours since forever. Since just after high school in the 90s. Since you got the Eagles back together with your video for Take it Easy, since you were tired of pretending, Hell - since you sing the Devil in "The Devil Comes Back to Georgia", since you took your old Harley on a three day cruise - my old Harley days were stopped by a drunk driver hitting my Street Glide head on a couple years back and I should be dead - so I sing every word to "It's a great day" as well. I jumped off the couch when I saw you as a Dr on Pureflix! This song just played yesterday on my play list and my son watched this video and I told him this is real and came from your heart. I told him there will be people like the blonde girl in your life - he's 9 and so trusting. Then Luke Combs "When it Rains it Pours" came on basically saying the same thing without the quarter. God bless you Travis Tritt, a bunch of your songs hit me every time I hear them. Thank you for that. Karl Holba Edmonton Alberta Canada Still listening to Travis Tritt ✝
I sure as heck wish you take her off my back Coty I'm sorry I took her from you it's the biggest mistake of my entire godforsaken life! Come on old buddy don't leave me hanging out here on a limb like this... buddy???
In my senior year of high school, I dated this girl named Jerricka. 3 weeks before graduation, she left me for someone else though I never found out who. Fast forward almost 10 months later, I am about a week away from shipping off to Navy boot camp. She actually came to my door and begged me to take her back. And for a few moments I did. Thankfully my dad helped me realize that what I was doing was a foolish move. So I tried calling her and ended up leaving a rather awkward voice mail on her phone. I only spoke with her again once after that and it was through Facebook about 6 years after the last time we talked. She wanted me to move to California to be with her. Like she actually thought I was talking with her to make amends. I told her no, I wasn't gonna do that. I hope she has moved on from me. Her obsession with me was kinda scary actually.

It’s probably the easiest song yet the greatest song to ever exist. I got back into Guitar picking for the first time in years. This song itself was the foundation of me getting back into Music.

This was my wife and my wedding song. When we were dating we didn't have a "song", so we agreed the next song on the radio would be ours. When this came on we laughed out loud and it stuck. LOL
My Favorite Part To This Video Is Where Travis Is Sitting Outside In The Lawn Chair By The Road When She Pulls Up In Her Car I Love The Way Travis Pulls His Shades Down/The Expression On His Face/In His Eyes Like Well Do I Look Like I CARE /Give A DAMN (In My Opinion) !!!

James Travis Tritt (born February 9, 1963) is an American country music singer, songwriter, and actor. He signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1989, releasing seven studio albums and a greatest hits package for the label between then and 1999. In the 2000s, he released two albums on Columbia Records and one for the now defunct Category 5 Records. Seven of his albums (counting the Greatest Hits) are certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America. James Travis Tritt was born on February 9, 1963 in Marietta, Georgia, to James and Gwen Tritt. He first took interest in singing after his church's Sunday school choir performed "Everything Is Beautiful."[3] He received his first guitar at age eight and taught himself how to play it; in the fourth grade, he performed "Annie's Song" and "King of the Road" for his class, and later got invited to play for other classrooms in his school.[4] At age fourteen, his parents bought him another guitar, and he learned more songs from his uncle, Sam Lockhart.[5] Later on, Tritt joined his church band, which occasionally performed at other churches nearby.[6] Tritt began writing music while he was attending Sprayberry High School; his first song composition, entitled "Spend a Little Time", was written about a girlfriend whom he had broken up with.[7] He performed this song for his friends, one of whom complimented him on his songwriting skills.[8] He also founded a bluegrass group with some of his friends, and won second place in a local tournament for playing "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys".[9] During his teenage years, Tritt worked at a furniture store, and later as a supermarket clerk. He lived with his mother after she and his father divorced; they remarried each other when he was eighteen.[10] He worked at an air conditioning company while playing in clubs, but gave up the air conditioning job at the suggestion of one of his bandmates.[11] Tritt's father thought that Tritt would not find success as a musician, while his mother thought that he should perform Christian music instead of country.[1] Through the assistance of Warner Bros. Records executive Danny Davenport, Tritt began recording demos. The two worked together for the next several years, eventually putting together a demo album called Proud of the Country.[1][12] Davenport sent the demo to Warner Bros. representatives in Los Angeles, who in turn sent the demo to Warner Bros.' Nashville division, which signed Tritt in 1987.[13] Davenport also helped Tritt find a talent manager, Ken Kragen. At first, Kragen was "not interested in taking an entry-level act," but he decided to sign on as Tritt's manager after Kragen's wife convinced him.[14] Tritt's first acting role was in the 1993 made-for-television movie Rio Diablo.[68] In 1994, Tritt made a special appearance as a bull rider in the movie The Cowboy Way, which starred Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland. In 1995, he appeared in season 6 of the horror anthology series Tales from the Crypt in the episode called Doctor of Horror. He also starred in a guest role on Yes, Dear as a rehabilitating criminal.[69] The following year, Tritt appeared as himself in Sgt. Bilko, which starred Steve Martin, Dan Aykroyd and Phil Hartman;[70] Tritt's cover of "Only You (And You Alone)" appeared in the film's soundtrack.[71] He also made an appearance in the 1997 film Fire Down Below, starring Steven Seagal and Kris Kristofferson.[72] In 1998, In 1999 tritt appeared in outlaw justice with willie nelson, waylon Jennings, and kris Kristofferson .Tritt appeared in the film Blues Brothers 2000 as one of the Louisiana Gator Boys. Finally, In September 2010, filming began on a movie called Fishers of Men, a Christian film.[73] Regarding his songwriting style and single choices, Tritt said that he writes "strictly from personal experiences" and does not follow a particular formula.[79] He described "Here's a Quarter" as "one of the simplest three-chord waltzes I've ever written,"[80] and said that label executives were reluctant to release it because they thought that it was a novelty song.[81] Also, he was told that "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" would not be a hit because it did not contain any rhymes,[82] and fought the release of the song "Country Club" because he did not think that it fit his style.[83] He also said that, despite their low peaks, the more rock-influenced "Put Some Drive in Your Country" and "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" helped generate sales for their respective albums more so than the top ten hits from those albums.[84] Tritt married his high school sweetheart, Karen Ryon,[85] in September 1982, and moved into an apartment with her. They stayed together for two years, while Tritt worked at an air conditioning company and Karen at a Burger King, and divorced two years later.[86] After going to court, Tritt was ordered to pay alimony to Karen for six months.[87] When he was 21, he married a woman named Jodi Barnett,[88] who was 33 at the time.[89] He divorced her shortly after signing with Warner Bros. in 1989; the divorce finalized one month before "Country Club" was released. Tritt wrote the song "Here's a Quarter" the night he received his divorce papers.[90] He married Theresa Nelson on April 12, 1997.[48] They have two sons: Tristan James (born June 16, 1999) and Tarian Nathaniel (born November 20, 2003),[91] and one daughter, Tyler Reese (born February 18, 1998).[48] Political views and advocacy Tritt is a member of the Republican Party and supported George W. Bush for President in 2000. The two met in 1996 at the Republican National Convention in San Diego, California, where Tritt sang the national anthem.[92] Tritt told Insight on the News, that he is a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights and believes the answer to crime is not gun control but criminal control. "I'm a pro-gun guy. I'm an NRA National Rifle Association member, a life member as a matter of fact. I'm more for the belief of making the punishment tougher for the criminals to start with. I think that sends much more of an incentive for people to not commit crimes of any type than taking away guns. Because you take away guns, and the next thing you know, stabbing murders are going to increase." He adds that he is "definitely pro-death penalty."[93]
