After seeing the first issue of how Jack Murdock was, I don't like the fact that he was made into an abusive dad. A dad who loves his son so much that he is willing to risk his own life just to make him proud and will do what he has to in order to help Matt get into school? That's a fucking father of the year and I love that. I am assuming Jack wasn't too bad in the Frank Miller run, but seems a bad choice to turn someone who was originally so happy he could put his son through college into someone who'd slap him in the face in anger. Just my thoughts, also I am slowly becoming more and more of a fan of Daredevil, I wish I had Netflix so I could watch his series. XD
I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to stumble upon your channel. Your videos are so informative, the editing is wonderful, and you approach your commentary in a way that is inviting and fun to follow. I've watched several of your videos this week. I wasn't sure which video to leave this comment on but this one seemed as good as any. Keep up the great work! Thanks.
I love how the show focused on the duality of the character. How Matt is this righteous Catholic character but once he puts the suit on, sometimes the devil is brought out in him. They do a great job of showing Fisk as that dual character as well just opposite. He wants a loving family life but is still bashing guys heads in car doors.
I prefer Daredevil as a better man like he is today but in darker stories. Bendis' and Brubaker's runs are the best example of this so I would like more stories like that. I wish his identity was still secret but I don't see that happening in any way short of a Mephisto retcon. If they do that maybe they could bring back Karen Page. It would make a hell of a lot more sence with DD than it did with Spiper-Man.
Good, informative video as always! :) My only criticism is that you need part 2. That should include a deeper summary of the Marvel Knights series in 1998 that made DD popular again, leading to Jeff Loeb and Tim Sale's awesome Daredevil: Yellow, the "fill in" that was Brian Michael Bendis whilst they waited for Kevin Smith, then to David Mack's odd bit, to more Bendis, to Brubaker, to Diggle and to Waid and how he's been doing things very differently from the darker, grittier Bendis era. Lots there and it's some of the best stuff (maybe not Shadowland though, that was a bit of a chore) :)
This might sound nuts, but ya know how Hank Pym bounced around between being Ant-Man, Giant-Man, and Yellow Jacket? Perhaps, from a writer's perspective, Matt Murdock could go through a phase like that. And when he finally decides to return to being Daredevil again, the fans would love it. For instance, he could get some Stark Tech, therefore some new abilities, and join the Avengers for a while under a new name. The character would gain a ton of exposure that way. Then return to Hell's Kitchen as Daredevil, bringing that share of the audience with him. Just an idea.
i red daredevil comics since i was 12 and now im 23 and i must say the best comics were frank miller ones all fans want teh devil inside daredevil the man without fear but it was sad very sad when shadowlands part came up i was dispointed but still my fav hero in all marvel world
Excellent presentation! Exactly what I was looking for. I found too many videos with over exaggerated presentations and a noxious music rocking in the back ground. Thank you sir
Reading Daredevil growing up Frank Miller writing was the best. I thought they were going to go with Miller's story of Daredevil when the movie came out but they didn't. Guess that's why I was disappointed with the move. But I love the NETFLIX series.
Hey Rob, Love your videos and they have definitely guided me into the world of comics! Anyways, do you have a go to online comic store you get your comics at? Love your dedication in the videos you post! Keep it going!
Old intro is best intro! It used to hype me up much more and set the mood for the videos than the current intro of BE SURE screamed into my ear. BRING IT BACK!
Vaping Explained? I see you do that so often in your livestreams but i have no experience with it, i do like shisha tho, dunno if it's known under the same name in america, waterpipe something something xD
Look into nueroplasticity and there are some interesting stories but the echo location thing is relatively common hence the aluminum plastic canes that give one feedback
You make some random interpretations of the source material. Matt Murdock wasn't part of any team. Not since his father told him to hit the books and study hard. He used to walk around and see his colleagues playing football and watch other neighbourhood kids play from his window. He only started exercising at home when his father was away looking for fights in the boxing circle.
think about it remember the 70s tv show with bruce lee longstreet?! isnt like the oridins of daredevil trained by a top martial artist?! in long street he was blind but through intesive training by a master karate trainer bruce he overcame his blindness like using the sonar like a bat to see everything around him! almost like using the force in star wars!
Can you please do a review of daredevil season three is on Netflix.... I really would like to hear your opinion on it and may be a breakdown of season three. In a breakdown of daredevil reborn and Frank Miller’s stories....
ComicsExplained i was just watching iron man 2 and on whiplash's hand is the same triangle shape thing tattoo that vladimir and the russians in daredevil have.
+Vlad Piranha Its not. Its awesome. I feel like the people who keep saying that are the ones who only read a few (1 or 2) issues and then gave up because it isn't like Miller's DD. Waid has been incredibly successful in showing the struggle, the mental toll that being Daredevil has on Matt. Waid's Matt is a broken man but despite that chooses not to be weighed down by tragedy. You see him struggle and try to be happy and deal with depression and you see the character grow but most of all you see him being a hero even when he isn't wearing the suit. Those little moments he has with Foggy and how he's helping him deal with his cancer makes him incredibly human. When Waid decides to go dark, he's more successful at pulling the rug right from under you because you dont go in expecting it (case in point is the fight with Ikari in #25).
Rockart9 Good to know. I only read up until the Omega Effect storyline when things started to settle back into a more gritty mood, but thought it might only be for the sake of the crossover. I'll give volume three a chance and see where it takes me.
AH! epiphany! I think the reason why they didn't show Matt as a kid messed up in the 60s is because of the social taboos and censors of the time. That is just my theory though. It wouldn't be too far fetched though. They tended show little blood back then on television. Possibly the rules forbid children being showed as gnarled up from an accident too.
Could you explain the Hellspawn villain from Daredevil? I got 2 comics of Daredevil when I was a kid that had the Hellspawn as the villain but it was always difficult to information on him and where he comes from and why
He's from the Infinity War story arc (The sequel to the Infinity Gauntlet), where many heroes in the Marvel universe had to confront evil duplicates of themselves created by the Magus.
Enough daredevil. It's worse than how the media picks a news topic and talks about for weeks on end. There are hundereds of Characters stop doing day after day after day after day after day(gets old huh) about one hero.
I have never been a DareDevil fan, mostly because he's Spiderman. Also, I don't care for Spiderman. This video was hard to watch because it was 20 minutes and because DareDevil, like Spiderman, is boring as can be. They're very much 1 sided characters. Occasionally they have another side you might see, but pretty well paper thin. Also they rarely have friends. Sometimes a girlfriend, but never an ally. One good guy vs one bad guy, and the good guy wins. Same story, same plot, rinse and repeat.
Gabriel guillen Not true, not true at all. I did see one once on a shelf in a book store. Yeah, it was 2008. Good year. I believe it was a Wolverine comic.
elektra, preying mantis(if that's the name of the one who ex machinas daredevil back to life.).....need I go on? I can do this all day.....oh, and also the avengers by way of Elektra.
Col.Richard45 So what you're saying is that Dare Devil has no Real fiends. He just knows people who can bring him back to life, and a person who has friends? Or did I miss your point all together?
Lul Llipop no, my point went right over your head. Elektra=friend Mantis=friend who gave their life to keep him alive/revive him Being a "hero" of sorts granted him access to the avengers, but he might not have used it.
