I love Yelena. She's always eating or want snacks. I cant wait to see her grow into a major player in the MCU. Florence Pugh totally owns this character.
I've liked "Hawkeye" much more than I expected. It actually feels much closer to the Netflix shows than the COSMIC THREAT! MCU movies, which is nice. As to Clint's wife, you have to be a bit of a spy novel geek to catch it, but his wife saying she trusts his insticts and to "Trust his gut" is a (deliberate?) reference to the real-life legendary "Moscow Rules" which spies were supposed to follow in dangerous locations and situations, so it's pretty clear she's ex-Government Intelligence/Operations, which would make sense since Clint would likely never meet or marry someone who wasn't capable of handling themselves in a dangerous situation if he wasn't around. All in all, I'm going to be sorry if this is Renner's last dance as Hawkeye. I think he's finally getting the character development and story the movies never had time for, and this is easily one of the best and most mature Disney+ shows they've put out.
wish it was just one or 2 episodes longer, i feel we will only get kingpin for a scene or 2 and to flesh everything out, i get theres an echo show but whens the next time we see hawkeye
It's really good, I've enjoyed every episode, probably my second favorite mcu series after Loki and that's saying something because I was a huge fan of Wandavision and Falcon/Winter soldier
My wife has found new appreciation for all the non-superhuman heroes since the Black Window movie dropped. She went from being “meh” about Nat all these years to basically liking her a lot, and she is hooked, HOOKED, to the show now mainly cause of Clint and Yelena! It’s pretty cool to watch lol. She loves the Widows now 😁
Yelena keeps on saying "Kate Bishop" is so dry-ishly hilarious lol. Also, Kate and Yelena's chemistry is already super good. It's definitely shaping up to be the next Black Widow and Hawkeye friendship dynamic. I freaking love Yelena and Kate already. I knew it was going to be super good. The Kingpin namedrop and reveal is EVEN bigger though. This was such a hype episode to set up the latter half of the series. I guess it made sense as well that Yelana was actually snapped by Thanos too.
Hands down my favourite moment from the episode apart from the obvious cameo was the interaction between Kate and Yelena. Definitely love their dynamic! Looking forward to seeing more of Yelena
I honestly did not think I was gonna like Hawkeye this much, probably one of my favorite mcu shows besides Loki. I can’t wait to see the finale hype is unreal.
my prediction : eleanor was the one putting jack's name on sloan inc, and jack doesnt know about that. And jack is actually undercover targeting the kingpin and that's why he's getting close to eleanor because he knows she works with the kingpin. Also that's why he killed his uncle, who was probably also involved with the kingpin.
Interesting. Maybe Jack is one of Valentina's operative to uncover Kingpin's underground crime boss. IF and it is a BIG IF, MCU acknowledge Netflix show history, then Kingpin should've been in jail. Now. I believe, he was escaped during 5 year of the Blip OR he was dusted and then he escaped otherwise
@@eastcoastpaper3862 ... Unless that location was unsafe (people on planes didn't appear in the sky) Or maybe the prison was shut down or destroyed during the 5 years 🤷🏾♂️
Me too!!! Episode 3,4,5 are all great episode!!! ❤️❤️ I just hope for the finale they will tease the next series (It is rumored that it is going to be Moon Knight, in which I do hope that Punisher or Blade will cameo in) and some answers to a lot of questions regarding these series.
The name drop and reveal of kind pin got me super excited. And I love how they set up so much in this episode with yolena and echo can't wait to see echo turn a new leaf or at least go anti hero
These marvel shows were genius they are literally everything they fill in all the little details of the world and I love how they take a side character from a movie and make them the focal point Florence Pugh absolutely killed it as YB.. seamlessly Transitioning from easy-going unassuming right over to very serious and menacing she is the perfect counter to losing black widow
I am stoked that Vincent Donofrios Wilson Fisk is officially back… but man the way they finally reveal him, via a blurry text photo, was pretty underwhelming. Really hope that he has a significant scene in the last episode
1) Kate and Yelena’s chemistry is incredible on screen 2) Daredevil is one of my favorite shows and I can’t believe Fisk is back!!! 3) I agree I love the way that actor plays Jack, I find him hilarious lol
The fact that Maya considered Kingpin as her uncle. Kingpin ordering the hit on Maya's father means he's just as ruthless as he was in the show Daredevil.
Im so glad Charlie and Vincent are back. Sure, the Marvel Netflix shows had some issues but their peformances of Daredevil and Kingpin were truely amazing. I wouldn't want it to be anyone else. Now we can only hope they will bring Jon back as Frank Castle as well
I don't think those were real FBI agents arresting Jack. I think it was all a ruse to appease Kate & get her off the case. Jack & Eleanore are totally in it together.
They were not FBI, they were NYPD. The black guy was the one who called Kate on episode 3 (or 4, not sure) and asked her to go to the precinct and answer some questions.
Florence Pugh is killing it as Yelena Belova and here I mourned Scarlet Johansson's Black Widow character and who would be worthy to fill them shoes. Flo is so effortless in her portrayal while being completely different from Scarlet's Widow.
Kazi cares about Maya but he 💯% sold her father out on the orders of the Kingpin. Hawkeye absolutely needs a season 2 cause it doesn’t feel possible they can wrap this up with one episode left.
@Sunstar, im also rooting for season 2 because there is no way in hell that they would answer all the questions/shady stuff that is happening in this series in just one last episode, I mean maybe if the last episode would be an hour and a half or something.
The scene with Kate and Yelena was great and emotional I mean Yelena did have a point about Natasha being called Collateral damage although Kate said it unIntentionally the anger still would've been there
Yea but one thing she doesn’t know which I hope she finds out is that Natasha and Clint literally fought over who sacrificed themselves and Clint wanted it to be him so bad. Still does to this day
@@SossboyOG still doesn't mean you can't ask questions like she literally stopped to talk to Kate so the person your sister spoke greatly about you just say fuck it ima kill questions later
@@SossboyOGSo does she want to kill him or not? Because she seems to be between whether it's personal or not and it makes no sense either way. She knew how close Nat was with him so surely she'd have turned it down if Nat meant so much to her. The whole storyline with Yelena is forced. Luckily she's a really good actor so she'll be good once they get this nonsense out the way
Surprisingly Hawkeye has been by far the best show to come out of Marvel studios. After they released the line-up at Comic-Con, majority of people were excited for Falcon & Winter Solider & thought it would be the best show because of the popularity of the characters. But Hawkeye has outdone itself and has exceeded all expectations. Super excited for the Season Finale! Also i cant believe we get both Daredevil & Kingpin reveal into the MCU in the same week!
Ya so far it’s been hawkeye, what if, and loki for me. Wandavision started out great but the ending was iffy not the mephisto stuff but I felt it should’ve been more emotional
What are you talking about? The show has been dogsh*t. I'd rather Marvel stop producing shows now, cos these shows have been terrible so far. Well, except maybe Loki.
@@Tee9156 Loki was mostly filler with a high budget. A solid show but not the best MCU show. Falcon and Winter soldier was the best show until this came out.
Seeing the reaction of Yelena to the Blip made me sad tho but at least we got to see the pov of how it actually happened. And Kate getting sad about how she expected everything to go differently than it is now and how her journey is going was emotional.
The detail in the end of the main credits with the “ornament” really being an outline of kingpin was just another detail that made this such an amazing episode. So exciting to see one of the most well-executed and well-acted villains in marvel come to the MCU
LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! What I want to know tho, is the backstory of Laura and Clint. Their relationship needs to be described more because I feel like there is something much deeper to their marriage.
I think Laura just understands him more than anyone because she's his wife and he's confided all his darkest secrets to her. I do think they should explore their relationship more.
@@NeonRuffian1111 I ran that through my head and was like, would any regular person react to Clint's job? Even if they were high school sweethearts, hearing that someone you love kills people for a living is easily a red flag. So her staying with Clint has to have something way deeper. And when I commented this, I didn't know Charlie was gonna touch on this in the video, so there may actually be something more to their relationship. I'm just excited and need answers in this last one 🔥🔥
Totally loved this episode. Did anyone else notice the Easter egg with the Mac and Cheese being Yelenas favourite food from when she was a kid in the start of Black widow, such a nice nod!
The character development for Clint is terrific. It reminds me a lot of Tony's internal turmoil that he deals with. I hope we somehow get a "Mrs. Barton v Eleanor Bishop" throwdown lol
What a perfect way to reveal Kingpin. I was afraid we'd get the same kind of cliff hanger ending in the series finale, having him as a final minute cameo, but having him here in the 5th episode was great!
The girls night scene was IMO the best part of the episode, with the confrontation between Clint and Maya being a close second. When Yelena and Kate are talking over the macaroni and cheese, remember that in the Black Widow movie, during the prologue when Yelena and Natasha were kids, Yelena wanted macaroni but her mom was making something else for dinner.
i really like how Linda Cardellini is getting some screen time and character development, she's a fantastic actor and so far the little snippets of her are fascinating
I don’t know if anybody’s pointed it out, but it DEFINITELY sounded like a version of the Daredevil theme played towards the lead up to the Kingpin reveal. My ears just perked up and KNEW we were going there baby!
This video was so fun to watch! I love the way you talk about Yelena. I was so thrilled to see her in the series. And seeing other fans like you talk about it is really exciting. I genuinely enjoyed watching this!
What a fantastic episode! I'm loving Yelena more and more and Kate Bishop's 'disgusted face' is hilarious. Hawkeye's speech for Natasha felt so raw and seeing Vincent as Kingpin was a great homerun.
@@MotorCityPhoenix313 Great delivery for sure, not sure about the writing. Yelena whole motivations is bad writing. I mean why would she willingly follow orders from sb she doesn't even know, nor their motivations, and fell for what Val told her, because she touched on a raw nerve, and didn't ask for any proof that Clint is responsible for Nat's death in any way. Plus there's the whole hypocrysy of her telling Kate that Clint is a bad person because he killed a lot of people. Whereas she, well...is a literall assassin for hire and have "her ledger drench in the blood of her victims". I know that she's still mourning her sister which is not the best to think rationally, especially when you are being handed the perfect culprit to lash on anger, frustration and sadness, but there she is still very naïve and made some stupid moves and it doesn't erase the double standard that she give Clint and her.
I loved the opening bringing us up to speed with Yelena pre blip. I really hope they don't I really hope they don't kill off Clint. I do like his character. I like the chemistry between Kate Bishop and Yelena.
Kate used Tabitha as her pseudonym, is that a reference to Bewitched show? Samantha had a kid named tabitha... Wandavision, Wiccan and Speed easter egg?
Not gonna lie, 5th episode was in my opinion the best one yet. It is was not filled with action but the backstory, connections, and flashbacks. I mean just awesome 🤩
The fact that the Track Suit Mafia guys were listening to Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC is another great reference to Die Hard (John & Argyle listening to it on the way to Nakatomi Plaza)
Looks like the Yelena Black Widow post-credits scene actually takes place either during the early parts of Hawkeye, or slightly before. Depends on whether she was hired to kill Clint or to kill Ronin. The pic Val showed Yelena was of Ronin, nut I suppose it's possible that Eleanor might not have figured out that Clint was Ronin until after she looked into him because of his involvement with her daughter.
@@SossboyOG Oh, I've no doubt that she already knew Clint was Ronin when she put out the contract, the only question is whether she found out while using her company's resources to track down Ronin for "the big guy", and took the opportunity once he popped up in public with his family in NYC shortly before the start of the series, or she learned it when she looked into Clint after he started palling around with her daughter and put out the contract then. I'm leaning toward the latter, but if so the timeline is a bit tight. It has only been a day or two since the start of the series, after all, much less when she first met Clint.
We know Kate's mom hired Val to take out Clint only because he and Kate were getting too close to the truth about the issues transpiring in Hawkeye. It would have no significance for the viewer to know she hired Val months earlier because she and Kingpin we're hunting down Ronin. We're told multiple times throughout the show that basically no one but Kate, his wife and Natasha knew who Ronin was, if anyone else knew he would of been hunted much sooner, yet he's living a peaceful life with his family not looking over his shoulder in public settings. He also mentions how afraid he is off Kingpin like 4 times, if Eleanor knew who he was, then Kingpin would of known too. Kate's mom set a hit for Clint to keep the Avengers out of their business, Val is the one who hired Yolena with the hidden motivation of taking out a classic Avenger by clearly painting him as a villain with the Ronin persona he dawned for 5 years. Val is basically the Nick Fury of the Thunderbolts right now, she has ears and Intel everywhere. Put it this way, Clint, an Avenger "killing" Black Widow sounds random and out of character, he's seen as a hero and Yolena is a good widow now. However, showing Yolena his alter ego was Ronin, a mass murderer vigilante for 5 years makes Val's stretch of the truth more believable and further motivates Yolena to take him out of the picture. The Thunderbolts are being formed in the background of the MCU as a dark government owned taskforce that isn't held by the strong morality and rebellious decision making that we witnessed with Tony Stark and Captain America. Ross and by extension Val has wanted this for a long time. Taking out Clint and Falcon are important aspects to that plan. What I'm seeing happening is a Civil War 2 being setup right now. Imagine Dark Avengers vs Young Avengers with a retired Clint and Professor Hulk as their mentors. We've got Ironheart, Kate Bishop, Spiderman, Billy and Tommy, Ant Man's Daughter, Ms Marvel. It's coming 😜
I really liked the character development of Yelena in this movie. When she talked to Kate Bischop in her home, it felt like she was genuine about her attempt to connect with Kate Bischop. Maybe it's because she hasn't really had any friends after black widow (except for the other widows).
Can't say the same as I loved her in the film but not in the series (yeah I'm disappointed but I hope the last ep will make it up for it). Her whole motivations is bad writing.
@@mariebourgot4949 I don't think it is bad writing at all. She made it clear if she wanted them dead they would be dead, I took it she was gathering intel. Even during the first roof fight, she never actually tried to kill anyone, she was just getting a feel for them. Clint didn't know she was there until she started attacking, she could have just sniped him and he would have never known. which means, she wanted him to know. She then talked to her target's friend to gain more information, then looked into who hired her and why. Hitman 101 is you don't ask questions, you just get the job done. That is a lot of investigating on her part for a kill, especially since she already found her target on the roof with the initial fight. I think she had questions, so she went to get answers. And she got them!
Yeah, me too but why is he using a cane? 🤔 I didn’t watch netflix daredevil but I know some stuff that happened there (insta/twitter comments) is it because in the last episode/season of daredevil kingpin got beat up by matt or they have these fight scene?
Honestly not a fan of them keeping the cane. That was good for cheesy 60s Kingpin, but D'onofrio is suppose to be more realistic. Maybe they'll make it work.
The thing that I loved abt Netflix’s marvel shows was the brutality of it. It allowed for great moments to see characters fall and find the strength to get back up. Hope Disney figures out a way to channel at least some of that
I've been liking all of the Marvel TV stuff. It's a matter of time our boy Daredevil will show up. Yelena's character and the actress who plays her. You can't help, but love Yelena.
I’m so glad they brought back D’Nofrio’s Kingpin, he is plays him perfectly. I like the little touch of having him with his walking cane which wasn’t included in the Netflix series. I’m also happy they didn’t put him in a over the top fat suit like was rumored, D’Nofrio is perfect as the Kingpin. It’s an awesome time being a Marvel fan!
Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh are absolutely amazing together and I think the MCU are lining them up perfectly to be the next Hawkeye & Black Widow. This series is just Clint Barton tying up his lose ends so he can fully retire with his family safe but they are perfectly using it to set up the new non superhero pair.
Since Swordsman in the comics is sometimes a villain, sometimes a hero, it'd be hilarious if he really was a patsy and innocent in all of this and at the end of the series, he becomes an actual father figure/second mentor to Kate Bishop, teaching her swordsmanship and stuff.
This episode so far is definitely my favorite, so many amazing stuff have happened, I love the Batman Ronin act which makes Hawkeye so badass and remind people that Clint is indeed hardcore Avenger.
Is it just me or the speech that Clint gave at the bridge, reminded me of “i'm not seeking penance for what i've done, father. Im asking for forgiveness, for what i'm about to do”? Again in daredevil
So happy to have Vincent D’onofrio back as Kingpin. The Daredevil series was the best of Netflix bunch and D’onofrio was a huge part of that. I hope we do get to see Matt Murdoch in NWH and I hope they bring back Karen, Foggy and Punisher for future shows or movies
The best thing about MCU or I should say just KF- is the respect they have for fans. They know DD is fan revered and they started including the characters in a good way. WB can learn a lot.
One quick note: the “black widow” theme isn’t actually black widow’s theme. It’s the music that’s specific to Vormir. This same music is played during the Vormir scene in Infinity War with Gamora and Thanos. It has come to represent Black Widow but it isn’t really her theme music.
the two ladies today were just awesome!!! Kate has this sense of honest ignorance to what is happening around her, it is an awesome acting job... and Elena.... wow... so creepy all the great BFF attitude when not focused at killing you.... again wow loved it!
I waited to watch this until I could see the episode last night. First big "Hold the Phone" moment for me was Yelena revealing the Mrs Bishop/Kingpin as her employer AND how does that all fit in with Val? The assassin/ merc friend was absolute perfection. I mean, WTH...this is a $20K carpet!😆
I was annoyed by her friend but when you broke it down that way… she really was like “girl, shit is messed up but imma help you get that BAG, sis!” Def best friend goals 😂😂 I legit hope she comes back lol
Never knew of echo before they announced of her solo show. After seeing her in Hawkeye I'm super stoked and hyped for the show and her future with kingpin and daredevil.
@@mariebourgot4949 echo is no interesting character at all , yes unknown character can be great but she seems like no entertaining at all , I would definitely not watch her ,only after if I hear good thing about that show and pretty sure most of the people will do the same if not everyone
great episode and a great breakdown of easter eggs. I liked how they had Yelena get snapped in and out of existence and how they showed how time had passed. (I do wonder where that other widow, the one paired with Yelena in the beginning is now. Whether she's another of Vals recruits or on her own) I loved how Clint managed to take out all of Maya's flunkies at the car lot before confronting her. I am curious whether Laura will pop in during one of the fights in the next episode. Thanks Charlie!
When she says Hi! I kind of let out this little squeal and then laugh a bunch half out of embarrassment and the other half out of comedic appreciation and cuteness.
I was on the fence about this show at first. Loving it now and it just keeps getting better. And agreed man, Florence Pugh just makes everything so far that much better. I have a feeling we're gonna see these 2 again after Hawkeye. So much crossover potentials coming to I bet, Widow, Kate Bishop, Echo, Kingpin, Daredevil, Defenders etc. This phase is really turning out really good when you consider all the new actors and characters. It'll be cool to see Hawkeye finally get to settle down with his family. Excelsior.
*Kate Bishop shows the phone to hawkeye* my heart beating like crazy, Hawkeye saying King Pin: me jumping off my chair and running around in pure happiness Next day: watches spiderman no way home
I’m just happy to hear that the marvel/Netflix series are getting the recognition they deserve. Really hope they’ll bring back those other characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Punisher.
I never got into Netflix's Daredevil, but as a huge fan of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, seeing Vincent D'Onfrio's name there at the end credits really gave me some hype and excitement for the finale.
that Fisk reveal was wild, i hope we see him in person next week he really went to Eleanor who went to Val who went to Yelena all just to silence Clint, he’s a mastermind 🤣, can’t we see him in Echo and maybe referenced in She-Hulk as well
I knew it was coming, but I was still so shocked and surprised to actually see KINGPIN make it into the MCU officially! Next, is Daredevil! Can’t wait!
2:48 I think you're completely off about Nats motivation for sacrificing herself. Her sister was NEVER a motivating factor. It was her own guilt for her past, and reuniting Clint with his family.
@@stephenandrew7314 I came straight to youtube after watching the episode but Charlie didn't post the video yet. Then I found myself waiting for the video notification constantly. Only come here for episode breakdowns, nowhere else.
