Hard disagree. When the capes are interesting like these, I much prefer them to be plastic. They look much better than floppy fabric imo. And that exclusive Doctor Strange was a near perfect comic figure, hard to believe how anyone can think it missed the mark 🤨
I really want an animated Felicia Hardy. She was in more episodes than Mary-Jane and I loved her arc throughout the entire series. I hope the MCU does her justice.
Can’t wait for that Morbius to be dirt cheap on eBay because I def want it and need it for my spideys rogues. The animated Morbius is my favorite version too.
Not the best sculpted, but good one VHS Morbius. Now I really want them to make VHS Morbius unbound some day, his terrifying form that he got after neogenic recombinator treatment, Morbius was always my favorite villian, the real tragic and humanized one, glad they dedicated decent part of time for him in the show. I also want Felicia Hardy (non Black cat outfit) to place her near Morbius on the shelve, because of their close relations in the show. I do completely share your point about this figure pack. Sweet review! Keep it up!
I agree with most everything you said about this Morbius. I am getting tired of being happy just to add figures of certain iterations of characters to my collection. Obviously figures from a television show that was on 30 years ago that you need to buy exclusively online from the manufacture isn’t a kid’s toy. These collectibles need to improve. The Marvel Legends team have failed the collector community for far too long. The absolute hero worship of the team by pathetic toy tubers is enough to make me sick. X-Manny is one of only a select group of toy tubers not completely at the bid and call of Hasbro or Mattel and that’s why these videos are so great. Honesty is a recipe lacking from so many channels. Keep up the great work!
Rating for both these figures Doctor strange 0/10 I paid money? For this crap? Morbius 5/10 there was attempt but it fell short of greatness Overall pack 5/20 I want my money back
My favourite morbius is the nineties its how I first encountered him in McFarlanes's Spiderman run. I agree on the plastic capes they are really annoying even more so when you have characters like red widow.
I usually don't mind plastic capes, but for the Walmart Doctor Strange, what kept me from upgrading for so long is that the identical Cloak of Levitation for the old black-suited Strange is REMOVABLE. And I'll be keeping that figure instead of trying to sell it or giving it away to some coworker's kid, just to have a cloak someone else can use. As for Morbius, I'm always reminded of his team-up with Domino a few years ago, where at one point she willingly let him feed on her to regain his vigor. And his older figure... that goony look for his eyes is a way bigger turn-off than ol' Bucky Cap.
I their going to keep doing these 2 packs give us figures we want and let them be good figures like i would love to get a new Spider-Man or start doing x men 97 vhs 2 packs
Great review my Man-ny! Yeah this two pack is definitely a weak entry. I don't see Hasbro doing cloth capes any time soon that's not what pisses me off though. What gets me is that they usually dont give a f@#$ about a figures articulation when they make a caped figure and they could easily work around that. It can't be that they developer team doesn't know that people like to pose their figures. A figure with reduced articulation do to hard shelled cloaks should never release as it should be considered a design flaw...
That's Hasblow for ya! They do all that BS due to corporate greed on not wanting to spend the time and money to improve at making a better product. Doing all that sh!t just to pinch pennies. Take one step forward, but ten steps back. Hasblow will be Hasblow.
Facts! We NEED fabric WIRED capes! And wouldn't that be cheaper than having to produce & paint a plastic cape? It makes @hasboro look a bit disingenuous about wanting to reduce their plastic footprint during the windowless box phase! Come on folk start using fabric WIRED capes! It's 2024 bro!
At this point we know marvel legends. We get a lot of releases, some amazing, and some they are just going to give minimum effort. WE KNOW THIS. It’s a necessary evil to get all the releases we have. It is what it is Folks can collect mafex, or Mcfarlane for their cloth capes, or whatever. But we always find ourselves back with legends. Because their system works even with their occasional basic releases like this 2 pack
I agree with the fabric capes thing. Black Series has them, and I love the capes on my Darth Vader and Lando. They look great and don’t restrict movement.
Wow I really was excited for this. Massive disappointment and I can't imagine them taking a second crack at this design. A couple years ago I'd have bought it and said "good enough" now, easy skip.
The two pack is eh. I may pick it up when it hits outlet. I don’t see value hear. It’s just an offering. Morbius is ok. Better if accompanied by civilian Felicia. I would have taken animated Blade. Strange was just that as a pack buddy. If Chameleon in his animated look isn’t the next pack with whomever (Frank, Blade, Felicia, Polo Pete, Vulture, Flash, Robertson, etc) I will be disappointed.
Awesome review, Manny. I just want Dr. Strange probably buy him off eBay. I do agree the cape sux yet his head sculpt is better looking than the most recent one imo.
The biggest reason why I don't collect Marvel Legends is because they're a bit too pricy especially for minimal effort, they don't do cloth capes and stuff like that and still put pins on a lot of figures...
I really like the vhs figures so far this year but I agree with your complaints also I feel like we need a vhs venom and spiderman with animated series accurate decos , sculpts , and heads IMO like for spidey create that sorta rectangle around the spider so the cobwebs don’t reach the logo just like in the show
Can't agree more Manny.....down with plastic capes and jackets (trench coats) no more traffic cone garments......Hasbro needs to hire Chrissie from Rebel10customs to get their cape game in check......thanks as always for the great review I was on the fence thinking Morbius might be cool but I think I'll stick with my Mezco version and go without the animated version
Dude.......there are a bunch of Marvel Legends figures...especially more recent figures ......that are damn near import quality....almost.....for the price..and cloth goods just elevate them so much just got that Lilandra 2pk and I love that figure but man a good cape would make her near perfect
I was going to purchase this two pack. Now I'm not so sure . There are Hasbro figures that are ruined due to the stiff plastic . Astonishing X-Men Emma Frost . Dr Strange figures The long cape on Moon Knight . Then there's the figures in overcoats . Hasbro needs to start using a more flexible plastic or vinyl for capes and overcoats , or a stain resistant fabric . I get the reason to use the plastic to make the capes look as if they're billowing in the wind , but that sacrifices articulation . There can't be much of a difference in the price of fabric and plastic . I'd pay the difference if they included both . Yet when they do Fabric capes they cheap out . I'm getting the Cabal three pack and Dooms cape is fabric but it's not wired . Come on Hasbro .
I don’t dislike it completely. I hate the damn cape and his hands not having the leopard print pattern paint continue on the hands feel half assed. Legs are wobbly so it needed to be pinless. Everything else, I love.
Thanks for your efforts on this one Xmanny. It is rather disappointing to see ML waste their resources for products such as this. ML utilized the old Dr. Strange Toybiz cape design which completely restricts the arms and the buck from being an ACTION figure. Morbius's face looks like it is a mime. I am sorry you had to put forth all your efforts towards reviewing these.
I really like the Morbius as he will be my default version. The Dr Strange isn’t that bad imo, the Walmart version is superior other than the pinned legs. Wish I knew how to swap them
The thing you can do with stange is that , pop those pinless legs and put them on the comic one . Plus would not it be better to have comic and animated display seperately
Thanks for the review. This is one of the weakest 2-pack. It would make more to pair Morbius with a civilian Felica Since it made the most sense. We had a Green Goblin and Maryjane 2-pack and that pack worked so well.
The issue isn't the cape, the issue is the way that the cape is built, take an example Emma Frost, the cape limited her arms, but that can be fixed with a different way to built the cape. Same in this case, they are lacking in that, capes are too stiff, and they aren't working with the articulation, also the plastic should be softer.
One thing that bothers me about morbuis in the cartoon was how did wipe in his vampire form ? Not to mention what if the black cat wasn’t around how did weird blood sucking things work ? Or even when he had to bleed the lizard? Ouch
Damn you have so many complaints. But you still buy it anyway 😂 And the torso and the legs are not new at all. They use the same parts from uk Spiderman figure!
On Morbius? No they are not. Completely different sculpt. I literally have them right next to each other as we speak. Not even remotely close. So it’s not even a retool.
But you weren’t talking about that initially. You were talking about the torso and legs. Since you wanna bring that up, I did mention that his arms were from Blade which was also reused from Havoc. The coat is not from Blade, it’s from X-Men ‘97 Gambit as I looked it up. I have the Blade figure and it’s a different Jacket layer.
I wouldn’t think you were wrong on Strange’s legs because you didn’t bring that up at all in the first place. I am aware that his legs have been reused for many Spider-Man’s and some other characters too. They retooled it to pinless now recently which is cool. That’s why in the video, I said when comparing this new Strange figure to his last one, that it uses the same legs but are pinless.
Hey, Manny. Much respect. You say it how it is and keeping it real. When it's actually good, you praise it. When it's not, you call out the BS. Unlike the fake-shill tubers like MCU Collector24 and Dan Who, who tries to make excuses or brush off the BS like it's nothing whenever a figure is crap. Great video, keep it up! Love your recent She-Hulk fig review by the way. That is a pretty awesome fig though.
Hasbro gonna Hasbro. Its 2024. Most of their figures are either sticky, have no articulation, barely any toe articulation. Soft goods are non existent. I hard steer clear away from all figures with a cloth outfit. Only time I ever buy hasbro is if it's a new mold and it comes with a ton of accessories and articulation.dont get me started on their store exclusives. Most habros are just an instant pass for me. Great review tho, appreciate the honesty
They’ve been killing it this year as the lineup is one of their strongest ever. But they are bound (like any company) to still release some blunders here and there. I’m happy with this year’s lineup. I really am but I still have to call out the BS. Also, glad you enjoyed the review. It’s my pleasure.
