Marvel's Big Week - Deadpool, Agatha, and Captain America 

I hope they do the reverse of the comics, and when Ross turns into Red Hulk, his mustache grows back in.

It terms of MCU continuity, its crazy that the last president just declared war on aliens, and now we jump to this movie with a totally new president and no closure on the ramifications of secret invasion

I’m also bummed that Harrison Ford doesn’t have the mustache, but the “lose the mustache or lose the election” line is clever enough to me that I don’t care so much anymore

I kinda love the idea of Captain America fighting the President of the USA as an allegory for The American Ideal vs America as it currently is.

If Marvel bounces back to anything near the goodwill it had during the majority of the Infinity Saga, we could have a similar effect to how a lot of people skip entire eras of Doctor Who but have been coming back for the new RTD2 era

The complaints about Sam not having powers irritates me. Like Natasha and Clint don't have powers, and yeah we made fun if Clint, but we rarely heard people complaining that they shouldn't be in a fight with super strong aliens. Also IRON MAN! Dude had no powers except for cool suits and no one ever complained.

I like it when the odds are stacked against the hero.

There is a pretty good justice league unlimited episode where unpowered hero’s take down a super powered hulk like monster. Seems like a good template.

Watch this: The Sam Wilson character throughout this movie will be repeatedly told “you’re not Steve Rogers” so in the final fight when he defeats the red hulk by outsmarting, overheating or outmaneuvering him he can say “You’re not Bruce Banner” 🫳🏾 🎤

I can’t believe it took the trailer for it to occur to me that Harrison Ford could be a Red Hulk red herring. Just because he’s Ross in the MCU doesn’t mean MCU Ross HAS to be Red Hulk, does it?

Only two reasons I can think of why they ditched the stache. First is that Red Hulk doesn’t have a mustache and Marvel might have thought audiences would consider the retracting mustache too silly. For that I would say, if it’s not going to be a twist who red hulk is, just give him a mustache in hulk form. The second possible reason is that Harrison Ford just didn’t want to have to wear a fake mustache all the time, for every day of shooting

You can still have a good movie in which the main character loses. The concern is that there will be a forced victory, an unrealistic win, a stupid win.

I hope we get more R rated content after Deadpool and Wolverine

Even through the hard times, I stuck with Marvel. Marvel was my childhood. I have 100 percent faith in the mcu and that it will thrive once more. All it takes is one good spark to reignite the fire. ❤

I feel like, for narrative purposes, you *want* the audience to have doubts about the hero’s ability to beat the villain. That’s what makes us feel suspense and tension, it sets the stakes. Watching Sam vs Red Hulk and going “omg is he gonna be able to beat him???” is exactly how you’re supposed to react. I don’t understand why people were complaining when that’s the definition of an underdog story lol.

Also the captain America movie feels like Captain America vs. Red Hulk

Marvel never left. The fans just decided to hate everything and declare Marvel dead when all they were doing was releasing mid content for a stretch. Marvel has always released some good and not so good content. But the internet loves to magnify everything.

Is Marvel back? Feels way too early to even say that. There's no certainty Captain America will be profitable, or good, especially after how many delays and reshoots its taken...Agatha All Along falls in the camp of "Who is this for/Who actually wants this", and outside of Deadpool/Wolverine there's no certainty that any project has any real buzz behind it.

They’re trailers. This looks pretty standard for their usual stuff. Deadpool and Wolverine should be cool. Agatha will be at best unrelevant and at worst bad and unrelevant. Captain America will pretend to be ambitious and change things and change nothing. It seems like a thematic repeat of Falcon And Winter Solider. I’ve been to battered by stuff like Echo and Secret Invasion to give them any benefit of the doubt.

I did not catch the Mare of Easttown reference 😆 That’s particularly funny because Evan Peters was a major character in it. You can already sense the impending trolling from Marvel.

I'm actually surprised that Harrison Ford is casted in this universe it seemed like he wasn't really into these types of films anymore outside of Indy given how he public he was about having one of his major characters in a franchise killed off I thought he'd avoid stuff like this for the near future given his age but I dig him in the trailer

What’s crazy to me is they haven’t even confirmed that that’s Billy yet and people are already freaking out. It probably is, and I hope it is bc the Young Avengers are my favorite Marvel characters. But how do we know if it’s a “good adaptation” or a good performance from a trailer? On that front I think everyone should wait a minute before critiquing

Cuz they released the McDonald's figures already and it looks like there is a villain with falcon wings and you know how much marvel loves to do the whole hero fights the villain with the same exact powers thing, so. Just sayin. Id be really surprised if red hulk is the main bad in this movie and not a guy with wings.

Glad I seem to have missed the 'He won't be able to beat the Red Hulk' discourse because that seems exceedingly dumb for the reasons you've outlined. Ultimately it's a Captain America movie, so he's going to come out on top. The reason you go to the film is to find out the why & the how of it. Don't recall any similar discourse around _Batman V Superman._ A film with a power dynamic that could be viewed as essentially the same (I've really no time or interest in Bat-God preparation time BS).

Honestly what makes the most sense to me atm, is that red hulk, a character with a big focus on HEAT, is fighting on an island in the middle of the OCEAN? My guess is he'll be dropped/falls/is hit into the water and the flash of cool water reverts him, like an inverse of Namors defeat.

I don’t think Harrison Ford has ever slept walked his way through a movie It’s just the interviews that he does He always seems to be doing what he can he just doesn’t always enjoy the project of character or felt like something else should have happened but that’s all stuff he says after the project For example I don’t think he necessarily hated the original Star Wars movies but he felt as if his character would serve the story better if he sacrificed himself in the second and the time since he just doesn’t have interest in Star Wars because it is a lot and yet he was still great in the new movies it was just the press junkets where he would appear it interested But he does always deliver and he probably is the biggest movie Star ever based on his work in both commercial and acclaimed work and just how many franchises he’s been in I think the people who are behind him are probably Tom Cruise, Kevin Bacon and John Cusack but none of those are still on Harrison’s level

I see alot of negative feedback already for Agatha saying no one asked for it. But come on now people doesn't necessarily have to ask for things to get made, people are just saying things at this point. It's their Halloween entry and I think that idea is fun, reminds me of Halloween movies or episodes being shown in channels like nick or disney. With Joe I loooooveee Joe in heart stopper I didn't expect his portrayal of Billy to be effeminate and if I would choose how I want a live action billy I would prefer his starry eyed portrayal of Charlie with a mix of determination and leadership but I'm not mad about this billy as well he looks fun and this might just be agathas version of billy

I've been rewatching the MCU movies in release order recently, and tbh... I don't get why there was so much hate for the more recent projects. The only film I really did not enjoy was Eternals, because it felt like a film that desperately needed to be cut down to a shorter length. I didn't like the pacing. But aside from that, I've enjoyed a lot of the recent projects. Looking forward to seeing how things continue.

It is really hard for me to be excited for an MCU project, Thor Love and Thunder broke something for me. The reshoots for Cap and the fact that Thunderbolts has the most boring line up (and is was described as a Black Widow sequel) keeps me skeptical

I think it's interesting that this movie seems to be all of the Super Soldier Serum plots throughout the MCU and taking them to their logical conclusion which I guess is Red Hulk.

Agatha and Captain America have not sold me on anything, I don’t care about Agatha and I’m skeptical on whether or not New World Order will be good since Falcon and the Winter Soldier was a mixed bag. Deadpool is the only thing I’m excited for, and that’s because i love Deadpool and am a sucker for the multiverse stuff

Wanda vision was the best at the time cause it was all we had. Plus being the first show. It was an exciting time. But all the pay offs from it haven’t been great or have been getting pushed back so often it feels it’s its own show. I hope Agatha and visonquest have good throwback moments or references. All in all it’s probably my second favorite show.

I want to point out the tone of Brave New World's trailer. The only joke is the first line, the rest is an action thriller.

Its a silly argument. But if they want some kind of logical takedown argument, even Peter worked out how to defeat Hulk as he explains the tactic to Mary Jane in the 90s comic books. The way to beat hulk is not to fight him, but to exhaust him. It requires either a Thanos level character who can physical defeat him OR it requires someone with excellent agility. I'm sure Red Hulk will be the same.

What they probably mean when they say how is he going to beat red hulk is because falcon couldnt do nothing with Spiderman which was a teen fresh and not a trained person with hella strength so its makes sense why they will say this. Especially when u bring up the comics of hes weakness but in the beginning Red hulk was going off on hella ppl killed abomination .

I’m like Kevin Feige. All this stuff is great but Fantastic Four are the LEGENDARY PILLARS of MARVEL. Cannot wait to finally see the TEAM done JUSTICE.

Nando, I'll always love your takes but recently it seems like nothing but praise and attention for marvel, then crazy criticism like the recent video about The Boys. the boys is just as good as always, and this is NOT a big week for marvel in any facet

I think these two movies and the one show are really interesting. Deadpool and Wolverine is going to be really fun and I love Hugh Jackmans Wolverine so it will be great to see again. Agatha looks good. Aubrey Plaza is awesome and if it’s like Wandavision I’ll be really happy. Also excited for the Young Avengers and Billy’s going to be in it. Captain America 4 looks like it’s going to continue the pattern of quality in the Captain America movies. I’m excited to see Ford as Ross and Sam really get to show us why he’s such a good Captain America for a full movie.

I'm always open to seeing what Marvel's gonna do but I don't really have high hopes for Cap 4 and Agatha.

I was impressed with Harrison Ford in the trailer. That being said I still think after all the multiverse shenanigans in Dr Strange in the MOM, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the rumors of what’s going to happen in Deadpool and Wolverine that they should have had Sam Elliott back playing Ross. And unlike the mustache gag in the trailer not even acknowledge Ross has changed. Just act casual like nothings different. Oh the hour long RU-vid theory videos that would’ve launched would’ve been great.
