I guarantee the last scene is Kraven in his comic accurate look walking into the cave, lighting up the torch then looking up and seeing spiders crawling down from the ceiling.
I'm going to bet 2 cents that there is going to be an end credit scene where Kraven's brother walks up to a podium with the comic accurate Chameleon mask and it cuts to black never being paid off lmao
yeah, you just know originally Rhino's arm transforming was the final shot of the movie teasing a sequel that won't happen, like the girls actually wearing their costumes in Madame Webb or Morbius meeting Vulture which they put in all the trailers anyway, but Sony finally realized after 5 years of production that people might actually want to see the comic book characters in the comic book movie itself and not just it's marketing material so rushed through an action scene with him
I can already tell that Kraven the Pretty Boy is gonna pale in comparison to the most recent version of Kraven the Hunter in PS5 Spider-Man 2. Now, THAT was what Kraven the Hunter should be. A guy who relies on his wits and traps to keep up with super powered beings. Sure, he’s got enhanced strength, speed, endurance, etc. because of his herbs but that’s ALL he has or needs; his cunning is his strongest weapon. Oh, and there was no “romanticizing” of Kraven in that game either. He wasn’t an antihero attacking poachers; he was a cold-blooded killer who wouldn’t stop fighting until he was out cold or dead. His supposed “noble traits” he displayed were only to make his fights more entertaining and “fair.” He didn’t directly attack innocent people not because of some “code,” but because they would pose no challenge to him in a battle.
The idea was definitely there, but the execution wasn't. The game doesn't nearly delve into the character deeper than surface level. He's well done, won't lie, but not as good as he should. "There's a new bad guy." "Who?" "Kraven." "Why is he bad?" "He kills for sport." "Why is he doing that?" "He's dying and wants an honorable death." "Why does he want that?" "He doesn't want to die feeling like he's weak." "Why doesn't he want that?" "He thinks it's not honorable." ...and that's it. There's no real purpose, only this delusion of one, which garners an interpretation of maybe it being meant to be a delusion, but the game doesn't have enough to make it mean more than that because there's nothing in the story that propels his motivation further.
All of the Sony Spider-villain movies should be modernized remakes of classic monster movies, just with an action focus. Venom = Frankenstein, Morbius = Dracula, Krven = Most Dangerous Game, Lizard = The Wolf Man, etc. They could have their own cool universe of monster franchises with villain protagonists using the Madame Web ladies as Final Girls.

Releasing a trailer at 3am US time is a clear move for the international European continental market, India etc, rather than the US. Sony must have faith in this one hey LMAO
11:31 YES! This point exactly. The way Sony Pictures is SO money hungry that they rob Spiderman of an actual chance to interact with these villains and THEN make a terrible movie. It's like since they can't have spiderman, they are going to milk the rest of his IP for all it's worth without having to put a single thought towards actually making it good.

Honestly the concept of watching a story from the villains perspective isn’t a bad idea. For example, imagine Willam Defoe as Green Goblin and we watch the story from his perspective, he’s the main character fighting against the goblins control and we root for him hoping he won’t succumb to the serum but in the end the goblin takes over, he fights spidey, and dies like he did to his own glider tragically. Could be fun. The problem is the limitation of not being able to have Spider-Man, so the whole script is instantly limited and will underachieve inevitably.
There's absolutely no way Sony would make the "Rhino Showcase Scene In The Trailer But It's Actually Just A Glimpse" mistake from Amazing Spider-Man 2 all over again.
I sure hope so. I grew up with the 90s Spidey cartoon, and he was my favorite villain in that. His origin story in that is very dumb, but he was always a fun match-up. The power's are close enough to Spiderman so it's easy to understand the matchup, and different enough that it makes it interesting.

By all accounts Venom should not work but by taking it as a bizarre romcom love letter to bad 2000s comic book movies it has more than found it’s audience
Knowing Sony, they will surely mess this movie up as bad as they did with Morbius and Madame Web I'll be honest I do think the trailer looks pretty solid and I like the R-rated violence and I do like Rhino's design (already better than TASM 2 Rhino) but then again Im not entirely hopeful about this movie's success
On the point of "This movie needs characters" I think that's why Venom works is that while the writing and plot aren't stellar or fresh takes on the genre the characters are SO fun to watch. Which is where Morb and Madame Web failed. You can make a really mid basic ass movie but if people love the way you protray the characters you'll probably have a good number of butts in seats.
I loved him so much in that, was sad his role as.. was it quicksilver? Was so brief. Keep expecting him to have a big action role. Not sure this one’s gonna be it.
@@esharp86 apparently Matthew Vaughn wants to take what he’s learned and reboot the kick ass franchise . His roll as quicksilver was pretty decent if short lived actually expected to hem to bring him back during Wanda vision but instead they brought in that other quicksilver lol
The only difference between all of the SPUMC films is that Venom films has had casts that have managed to elevate the terrible, terrible material. Basically Venom only has success because of having Hardy and who he can bring in with him.

Something about this Avi Arad thing stinks. Like these movies all had other problems, like bad scripts or lacklustre principle photography or poor casting choices. He's also the producer on all three Spider-verse films and executive producer on X-men and X2. Movies are not made by any single guy and producers tend not to be the creative force, they're usually problem solvers. It could be that Arad has no eye for talent, there are bad producers, I don't know the guy personally, but how you internet weirdos keep going on about him like he's movie Satan... Something stinks about it.
In 2008, 18 year old me would've been excited by that trailer. in that pre-marvel, pre-maximalist action context. 2024? it looks like a TV (direct to streaming) movie. something you'd watch at home on a sunday with your niece who's visiting.
They need to just give us the Sinister Six movie already, very clearly this is what Sony is gearing all these movies towards. This is like making Nick Fury, Hawkeye and Black Widow movies before The Avengers.

Kraven works as a non Spider-Man character….for a single movie. His origins have no real correlation to Spidey. He’s like one of the only Characters who doesn’t have to Fight the guy for most of the time.
If they couldn't use Spider-Man why not Daredevil? Kraven's whole point as a character is for his very lethal hunting style to get countered by Spider-Sense. He is a simple but effective hunter, so without the full ideal of this character getting to fulfill the whole ideal of his point in existing yeah, it could be slop.
The trailer made this look like the ‘Logan' of the universe in the case that it is gory and about an animalistic kind of man killing people. Not saying it'll be good but I feel like this might be the most entertaining one in the franchise of Spidey villains!
5:55 Yeah, that’s the impression the new trailer gave me. I don’t think it’ll be my kind of movie. I wish they adapted “Kraven’s FIRST hunt”: Have Chameleon manipulating Kraven and Spidey into killing each other. I love how Kraven and especially Chameleon are written in that story.
I really wish they had introduced Kraven into the MCU. Seeing the trailers almost makes me lament about what could’ve been. I hate to judge a film that hasn’t come out but I just don’t have much faith because of how poorly this universe has been handled. Venom 1 and 2 were entertaining enough, but Morbius, Madame Web, now this? Sony just refuses to learn their lesson. They don’t listen, it’s embarrassing.
It’s probably because I’m less familiar with Catman, but I did get DC vibes off this but for a different, also obscure character: Ya’Wara from Aquaman and the Others. She’s an environmental activist hero, mainly protecting the Amazon with two jaguars that she controls. Honestly, that’s mostly why I’m excited for Kraven. Since we’ll probably never get Aquaman and the Others, I’m gonna watch Kraven like it’s a Ya’Wara movie from a different universe and I think I’ll have a great time 😂🎉
A good villain can always scowl but nothing lasts longer than a smile; it conveys his confidence in his abilities and that he likes what he does; people don't want to know that the villain has a sad backstory about the relationship between he and his dad; much of that can be implied with one throwaway line but considering that this character was never introduced in the from home series I'm not sure what the studios' intent is
