Sadly my TV only supports 120 Hz at 1440p so I'm losing a lot of sharpness from higher resolution in that mode, so I stick to 60 fps mode that renders UI in 4K. I can't get the sharpness of Fidelity at 40 fps cause of 1440p resolution, and Fidelity mode at 30 fps is not smooth enough for me. But I'm glad your TV is serving you well.
Smooth or uncapped? Been reading people finding smooth actually more choppy. Also I find weird the fact that uncapped further reduces resolution, so it’s essentially more of 1440p “quality” VRR mode, as opposed to 4k
Big difference even digital foundry didn’t notice is that, in performance mode there is no RT on the spider suits. With Fidelity mode on you have full RT on the suits and it looks amazingggg when wearing one of the metal suits
@@originalityisdead.9513 Wow, wonder if they’ll get enough backlash to the point where they’ll release an non-rt option. For ratchet and clank I played non-RT, but for Spiderman Remastered I chose RT because flying through a city of cubemaps looked wrong and it’s a more necessary part of the game IMO. But nothing is worth an aliased mess.
@@joaquinarchivaldoguzmanloe1073 if you have vrr just try it and see what you think. Typical play is fine but in boss battles I’ve noticed it drop frames a bit more frequently but it’s still playable
💯 I gotta be completely Honest here… Performance mode makes SpiderMan 2 look like a ps4 game. Just with really really fast loading. Fidelity mode all the way. But I get it, most gamers don’t care about visual effects now days. All they care about is SUPER fast frame-rate no matter what. I can understand that for multiplayer games, but for single player games, especially relatively easy, single player games, I need 4K Ultra. I didn’t spend all this money on a Sony Bravia OLED and PS5 just to drop the quality graphics to a ps4 level except at 60fps with low settings everything.
What people fail to understand is that a lower frame rate loses a ton of motion resolution the moment you move the camera in a game like this. So yes, when everything is not moving much the game looks far higher resolution, the moment you move quickly you are losing a ton of motion resolution and thus that game you think is so high resolution ends up looking blurrier than the higher frame rate, but at a lower resolution. This is why people who understand game tech are almost always wanting more frames over a higher resolution.
@DanBecker76 just depends on the person. I find this game loses just as much visual information at low resolutions with a high framrate as 4k with a low framerate. I personally am playing this title at 4k30 because I hate shimmering. The other two options drop the resolution enough that it drives me nuts during gameplay. I'm also saying this as someone who primarily games on PC with a 4090 at well over 60fps in everything. I think most people are framerate snobs or hopping on that bandwagon. Is it nice? Sure. Is it a must? Absolutely not.
@@DeesBees85 Someone who gets it. In movement, a 1080p CRT or plasma tv at 60fps is a cleaner more detailed experience than a choppy and blurry one at 4k30, even somewhat at 4k60. Sample and hold displays need 120fps to achieve plasma’s motion clarity at 60fps. However OLED has an ace up it’s sleeve, namely BFI.
Also every time Digital Foundry does Ray Tracing bits in games there standing still and moving back and forth so in a game I am not standing around to just look at a reflection A game is about movement jumping running swinging flying that's why FPS is more important
Insomniac very swiftly snapping at the heels of Naughty Dog / R* / Guerilla / Santa Mon etc...... HOPEFULLY Insomniac doesnt get bogged down in a single franchise or IP Insomniac were sort of under the radar but now with consistency and frequency of delivered quality titles Insomniac will AGAIN be up there along with ND / Santa Mon / Guerilla as the Premier devs in the industry! I wonder if GTA 6 will have RT! Whats the betting Insomniac has their own as in franchiseless open world IP in the works after Wolverine cooking!!! Just in case the Marvel IPs stop..... would be a waste of tech and talent if the open world tech isnt used for other massive open world titles or iterated upon..... whats the betting its a sequel tooooo erm i forget the name.... the XBX only title Surely Sony wants something like GTA if for whatever reason GTA disappears, not that its going to happen of course! But anyway an open world and open world tech is now ten a penny sooooo i dont know if Insomniacs efforts is any different or superior or boundary pushing to say a GTA / Horizon / Ghost / Infamous / Death Stranding open world tech? IF Wolverine ends up coming out in the next yr 2 yrs and before the other Sony big guns release anything substantial....... Oooh boy Insomniac surely has to win dev of the last few gens if not this gen! for their output alone... Their output isnt just run of the mill paint by numbers more of the same sequels either, every title utilises and pushes the hardware that little bit further! Insomniac hasnt released a dud yet! Neither has ND or Guerilla but Insomniacs fare have been family friendly critically amd audience acclaimed fare so all is currently good yeah people can moan about stories and narratives and endings but they were always subjective..... doesnt mean the devs were bad or the product was bad or the tech was bad or the game/game mechanics was bad
The average person dosent have a 120hz tv. They are starting to support it because the people that do have one can use it. But it’s still not the average so they would never design it that way
Should definitely have a performance mode with reduced graphics for cleaner image quality. Forcing RT at the cost of resolution to sub 1080p levels is not how most people would play the game on PC.
Or do a third mode like they usually do. I don’t ever think it’s ok to let image quality suffer over graphics. Image quality and performance should be non-negotiable, then letting hardware capabilities determine graphical settings. You don’t necessarily need 4k but 1800p and above. Unless you have a 1080p or 1440p display, where lower resolutions can still look great. 4k TV’s were not made for gaming, especially not for consoles.
@@mathias4514 uncharted 4 is just a damn fun game, and a blast at 1440p 90-100fps average. Tlou2 looks incredible for what is a PS4 game, and doesn’t even feel like a significant downgrade after playing Part1.
@@MocroSaiyan - its boring too short its a movie story driven game very disappointed too much hype nothing new, i don"t know why all the fuzz about this game.
have u actually bought the game, sat down and played? there actually isnt much cinematics... alot of actions tbh, obvs there will be cinematic for a single player game to tell a story...@@piensluc7444
I played the whole game at 30fps after initially trying the 60fps. I just really prefer the cinemtiac feeling unironically. The added visuals are a plus. And before you guys say anything, why isn't every movie at 60fps if high frame rate is the only preferred option?
Because news flash, you are not physically interacting with a movie. You are just watching it. When you’re interacting with a game the equation changes. Input lag makes a big difference, and motion resolution makes a big difference, both of which are greatly improved by higher frame rates.
I'm with the OP. I play almost every game at well over 60fps on my PC(yay for 4090's). I play this game at 4k30. Framerate is just the current bandwagon. Spider Man 2 has terrible shimmering so it has to be native 4k for me. The lower framerate is a non issue. I find there is less visual information in SM2 at 900p60fps than 4k30. The performance mode is gross on a C1.
@@mikew1080 that’s because 900p is unacceptable. That’s like trying to sell a game that runs at 15fps. But of-course console idiots accept it. Frame rate matters a lot more than resolution. I’d rather play 900p 60fps than a 4K 15fps game.
@WalterAnihuuyi456 you just said 900p is unacceptable... but you'd rather play at it. Make that one make sense. I also don't understand why we are talking about 15fps. None of the modes run that poorly. Is there a point in there somewhere?
