Two Spider-Men. Venom suit abilities. Web wings. A larger map. More enemy variety. Better boss battles. The "best story" they've made yet. This deserved to be a 9.
Thank You For the Venom The Ghost of You Give 'Em Hell Kid Skylines and Turnstiles It's Not A Fashion Statement (It's A F***ing Deathwish) Whoever wrote this review gets an 11/10.
PlayStation Spider-Man so far seems like a game series that is playing it safe with its open world design while simultaneously making it engaging enough that the player wants to keep going and advance the story. Insomniac knows what they are doing.
Sony has been playing it very safe for the past 10 years :/ it’s getting annoying we no longer see games like Dreams, Gravity Rush, Sly cooper, Resistance, Jack and Daxter, Shadow of the colossus, Concrete Genie they had a lot of very unique amazing experiences and now it’s all the same
blame the last of us for that. their last spectacular exclusives were bloodborne (2015) and persona 5 (2017), and p5 isnt even exclusive anymore@@martyplaysgames949
Better graphics, better music, more enemy variety.... better boss fights, better load times, better powers.....meh, Ill give you a 7.....okay an 8.....
Right. Nothing revolutionary. This is oddly like a reskin of Batman Arkham knight just with using the Spider-Man characters. However they make both characters put as if they still don’t have their routine down. It’s definitely a 7 or 8
Yeah, this made me so happy to see. The first one pissed me off with her just shielding her head with her arms when she got caught. I’m just sitting there like damn girl don’t you know how to run, kick, punch or scream?😂
Mj parts should have been removed. Noone in the universe want to play as a regular human being in a super hero game. If they desperately need lead woman representation, there are other female super heroes in marvel universe.
@@hododod246I agree, like letting us play as Black Cat or Silver Sable would of been sooo much better then playing as MJ sneaking around…an failing the mission if we got caught.
Having just got a ps5. Never played any spiderman. Then powering throught the first (+miles) before just to play this... Its like the first two game mechanics met beautifully. The graphics and cutscenes are great. Side missions are feels. And story is just peak. 10/10
Ugh Mirage is a 6/10 not an 8/10. Besides didn't someone else review Mirage? That's the problem IGN's fanbase has, they always IGN as a general entity and don't consider the fact that different critics review and score these games.
The negatives of the open world activities feeling repetitive is fine for me. The best part about the Spider-Man games is the fact that doing anything as Spider-Man is so satisfying and fun that it really doesn't matter what i'm doing. I'm sure it does for some people, but not me. So colour me excited
Still insane how Arkham Knight looks more impressive than this and this is PRETTY. Let's hope the swinging has some actual physics this time around instead of it being a mindless boring chore while you're holding 2 buttons.
Theyre would be gour playable charecters with their own combat styles and storys with multiple ways to traverse, thats not a banger to you? And a shredder final boss!?@illbet4589
because this game isnt very innovative, its just more of the same, they could have actually revamped the web swinging, but nope its the same animations, same running animation, same type of combat, its just the same, in 2023 expect better.
Sadly that's just how it is, they can completely change the game and IGN still be like, "As a sequel it stems too far from its original core mechanics which we love." Minus point.
Never expected it from ign, however to be fair mcr and spiderman have been a thing ever since spiderman 3 came out. Before memes were actually a thing we all collectively thought the same thing when we saw emo spiderman on the big screen
A 8/10 is spot on, SM2 story felt rushed and there is noticeable lack of side content to justify a larger map. You can't even enter Peter's house in free roam and there isn't a Day cycle and Weather system.
An 8 is wild. Tons of new features and gameplay innovations. Better than the first in every way. Should have at least been a 9. Although it's a 10 in my opinion. Easily the best super hero game ever made.
Not really better than first in every way. Couple of downsides - No more multiple supers associated with suit unlocks, gadgets are reduced to just 4 instead of multiple in the first one, less side activities like bases in the first one. But a solid improvement over the first in all other aspects.
@@Dale-jr7ojI know right. My plastic box has so much better games than their plastic box. Let's fight over it sounds interesting and not lame and kiddish at all.
The open world issues mentioned were my only negative with the 2018 game as well. Seems like a fair review tbh even if the game is more of a 9 than an 8
It was a 9 in 2018. Now we are in 2023 and they release the same games with a new coat of paint. That's why the lower score and gamers should realise that if they don't ask for change and inivation they will be served the same sh*t on a silver plate over and over again.
knew this game wouldn't dissapoint; it sounds and looks phenominal, the fact that it can uphold such excellent graphics at a stable 60fps is also incredible. the web swinging looks significantly faster and the web wings look like so much fun, I'm so excited to play this game, I'm not a major fan of doing the side quests after the story and I'm mainly interested in doing the main missions anyway, so the fact that the game hasn't innovated much in the post game content or side content doesn't bother me at all.
"Better in every way than the first game" IGN: 8.7/10 Spiderman original launch IGN: 9/10 Spiderman Remastered Also IGN: 8/10 Spiderman 2. The consistency is a serious problem with IGN reviews.
"Stuck in time" as in it feels the same as the first game. Saying it doesn't have features that old games from a different series have is a valid point. These two statements aren't contradictory.
8 is not bad, but the game definitely deserves more. Best spider man story ever plus amazing gameplay and city. Not sure what else these people expect when playing this.
Nah an 8 is fine. It’s kinda buggy. The third act could be better. And insomniac could have done more on the open world aspect such as the side missions.
My ONLY issue with the game, that completely gutted the stealth in this game for some reason. You have no tools for silently taking out a room full of enemies, no traps, no web bombs, nothing, all you can do is shoot web to get enemies to move so you can do perch/silent takedowns making attempting to clear a room silently take FOREVER. It’s really weird how that whole element was all but almost removed when it was so well implemented in the first but aside from that one thing, phenomenal game.
agreed... The game just goes from combat to repetitive combat. And for some reason, the combat is the only focus of the game.. like this is some sort of a WWE wrestle game... there are very little options to play the game in any other way, other than mashing square to punch to get rid of waves and waves of meaningless "punching-bag" henchmen that don't serve any purpose other than keeping you busy in between cutscenes.. The stealth option does exist in this game, but now feels a bit boring and slow, because they only focused on the combat and punchy play style and removed all the stealth gadgets.. forcing you to either take the repetitive combat option or the boring stealth option that takes too long without the gadgets.. they should have kept the stealth gadgets in, so you could at least have 2 different play styles.. especially since they worked perfectly fine in the previous game..
Every point brought up as a critique is actually valid, if it's on the basis more of the same spiderman of 2018 and miles morales in terms of side content and that other stuff then it is something to be critical of, especially considering that this one's open world design is not entirely revolutionized, from what we've seen it's just some elements that have seen change.
@@azzandil98that’s what people thought would be tears of the kingdom. wish spiderman 2 could have been better so that there would be more competition this year.
they should have handled side missions like Arkham. While many, they were not dynamic. But planned in a way that suits being in the world. Not random generic dynamic events. Unless done with high quality, its not worth it.. Side missions should have been more curated, with only a handful of "fetch icons" quests... Arkham only really had one collectible system and that was Riddlers Trophies. Other than that everything else was curated content.
you mean to tell me you dont want to hold l2 at every molecule on a rooftop to find out how to open the secret door and crawl past lasers 10 separate times in order to get a 20 second cutscene that should have been in the main story?
Game is cool but the fact you get the symbiote dam near at the end of the game and not in the beginning is a detriment for me. on top of miles having the better powers and peter being a side character in his own game with them abysmal abilities if you were buying it for the symbiote you’re going to be disappointed
Although the need for fast travel isn’t always there, they neglect to mention that you can fast travel to any point of the map and you instantly load there with a smooth as transition-
@@TheNeutralizer27To Peter out means to become less. So if the emotional depth petered out, it would mean it weakened. But it’s a double entendre because of Peter Parker.
The only downside to Spider-Man 2 is the lack of double team mission. They should make more mission where we get to use both spider-man in the same mission like the opening sandman mission
It would be cool to have a dynamic feature where you fight the villains while just traversing the open world while your codec/police/people call in stating the a villain broke out of jail and you have to randomly encounter them and send them back.
@@SaulGoodmanered thats completely different. The nemesis system made random orcs that kill you get a promotion, making them stronger. What this person is suggesting is that already existing spiderman villains break out of jail at random encounters.
Would get old extremely quickly. A better idea would be to have this concept inside of the Mysterium VR world, where a prison break out isnt necessary and replayability makes a lot more sense.
It's odd to think if a game improves literally every aspect of its game it scores lower than both games... It's also the best ending of any game on the past 10 years
telltale twd season 4 has a better ending 😂 you must not have played all games that have come out in the last 10 years. also, this guy didn't make the other reviews, he would have scored them lower than that
@@damndude9826 how is this ending rushed? 😂 They give you nearly a 30 minute cutscene putting together a set piece worthy of a bafta, tying up every loose end in the story. A massive improvement over (Otto arrested, aunt may dead, Peter and mj back together)
The MCR songs as subheadings 😂❤ Seriously, this game looks great and I’m kinda of surprised it didn’t get a higher rating from IGN. Would have expected a 9 tbh.
@@doomguydemonkillerNo it’s not, especially when they just give Tears of the Kingdom a 10/10 when this game is better in every aspect besides open world
@@doomguydemonkillerWhat do you mean a game like this, you can’t tell me a top tier triple a title that is better in every way than the previous games gets a lower score than Miles Morales which got a 9.
how can spider man get a higher score than the sequel o.O, the game has a better story and the game is evolved from the first game ? But the score is lower, not how reviews work my man.... improvements means higher scores
Gameplay is what fundamentally changes a game "ma men". Not everyone subscribes to the ideea of placing lipstick on a pig from last year and selling it as pig 2.0.
The aerial tricking and glider remind me of SSX (2012). Combine that with the platforming lifted from Sunset Overdrive (Insomniac's cult classic), (and the swinging, of course), and you're bound to have hours of fun just traversing the map.
