I really enjoyed the story of City That Never Sleeps. Thought they did a good job expanding things without somehow going off the rails or being a waste of money.
I actually like how Nate rarely introduces himself at the beginning of the videos and pops in after Jay lays the foundation for what’s going to be talked about. A nice surprise
The City That Never Sleeps was excellent. I appreciate that it struck a balance between continuing the story while standing on its own. It's a solid story and fun to play through.
@@DegenerateJay Hopefully that will be expanded upon for the sequel. If they even added the replayable main missions and side missions from MM it would be really great
Hoping for mysterio DLC for the sequel. I’d rather have him fleshed out in his own little story for dlc rather than a side character for the main story. More focus on venom
i believe the reason why the dlc worked so well is cause, in my opinion.....they were all completed when the game launched. all 3 dlc were already in the ps store, ready to be purchased the moment the game dropped back in 2018. i would always wonder if it was cut content from the game to get more money out of us. then shortly after, here comes miles morales. which i can understand why ppl felt it was a glorified, but i felt it was long enough to consider it it's own game. so, i didn't trip much about it, but i do feel it shouldn't be at full retail price. ultimately, the entire marvel spider-man experience was amazing and despite the very few gripes that bugged me, it didn't take away from the wonderful time it gave me. lol my buddy from work didn't understand why i played it as much as i did. he felt it was so stupid that while all these great games was coming out, i played nothing but spider-man....and beaten it like 5 times then....until they dropped it on steam. he hit me up and was like "ya, i can see why you played this game so much!" with part 2 creeping steadily, i'm very anxious for it and can not wait to get my hands on it.
Most games these days will cut content from the game and make that DLC, but this game actually developed the DLC after the release/patch period of the main game.
I will say I also agree the City That Never Sleeps dlc story were pretty good overall something I didn’t expect to see coming from Insomniac the crime and Screwball missions weren’t good to be fair still enjoy the DLC expansion anyway In Insomniac We Trust

Kind of wish they would do superior since it is set up very well with this octavius and his health condition but I don't know. I'm not sure how that would play out with Miles in the picture And on top of that I doubt they want to make a game where Spider-Man brutalizes or kills people even though I would play it because I really like the Superior Spider-Man. Obviously I don't want a game where it's Peter Parker going around doing that but I'm just saying if it was Otto And it was based on superior and done well I would certainly play the game. There was so much anger around that comic run though had a lot of people who were never even willing to check it out because they thought that Peter would be permanently gone somehow, even though it was comics, that they might just avoid that altogether just to avoid the backlash.
I feel like without the miles game people would be upset as you wouldn't see how he got his classice costume instead you would assume Peter gave it too him. Whereas since we have the miles game we know how miles got his costume and how he understands how his Venom and Invisibility powers work, since he's already gone through the learning process of it in his game so seeing him use them in the sequel wouldn't be too weird.
Hm, fair and valid points and opinions, i can agree with you too, i hope they manage to follow up on things well enough with the Sequel. I also hope the Batman related Games can learn from it’s example, but that might be asking a lot.
While I agree that Spider-Man PS4 had good DLC, I think that Arkham Knight’s DLC is great and completely unappreciated. You’ve got like 3x more DLC suits than the base game, and great selection of suits at that. Season of Infamy gets a bad rap for no particular reason that I can tell. It literally just lengthens the game’s campaign, so if you’re like the campaign then it’s just more for a little extra money. Then you have Arkham Episodes, which basically turns the game into a Bat-family game, if it wasn’t already - giving you character-relevant campaigns for all of the relevant Batman characters that you would want that for. And then you have multiple times more challenge maps as well. People who complain about Arkham Knight DLC probably didn’t put in all of the hours required to get 3 stars on all of the AR challenges, or to obtain all of the trophies for the DLC. The Spider-Man City That Never Sleeps DLC was great, but after I played through the story once I had little reason to replay other than to simply see the (excellent as they are) set pieces again. But with the added challenge maps, I have challenges that actually force me to plunge deeper into the game’s systems for much longer time and retry and rage quit and then retry again before I master it and *ahem* become the Bat. This little rant here isn’t meant to steal Spider-Man PS4’s thunder in any way, but I think Knight’s DLC model got a lot of flack for no particular reason other than consumers can be every bit as greedy and lazy as they accuse publishers/developers of being
@@13MiniMidgets well, here’s the thing: I consider the “Arkham Episodes” to be comparable to the Riddler’s Revenge DLC Campaigns in City, and the DLC Campaigns in Origins. If you look back at those, they were just plain old campaigns; 3 maps, some predator and some free flow, but in locations not seen in the base game. The Arkham Episodes are literally the same thing but without challenge requirements, but have more story and effort put into the cutscenes. When viewed in this way, they’re clearly still a step up from what the series had established before, but the downside is that the upgraded presentation tricked everyone into thinking the Arkham Episodes were going to be bigger scale than they were The only one that doesn’t follow this pattern is obviously Batgirl’s A Matter of Family, because it’s more comparable to, say, Harley Quinn’s Revenge or A Cold, Cold Heart So, I think when you compare Knight’s DLC to the rest of the series, you can see how, other than Season of Infamy, it’s really only doing what was done before, but more of it. And that leaves the only thing left to ever possibly complain about being Season of Infamy. For people who complain about that, all I’ve got to say is that Arkham Knight was a massive game that one could sink a lot of hours into even without DLC, so it’s not like the base game was shallow or lacking to begin with, but the Season of Infamy just gives you more game for more money, and also gives you closure on some of the other main characters of the series
I'll be honest, the only DLC I enjoyed from Marvel's Spider-Man was Turf Wars. That one at least had some intrigue for me when it came to the story and seemed to balance out the pacing and gameplay well. The other two were just not fun to play. The writing felt very much downgraded when it came to interactions, the pacing felt chaotic, and the difficulty balance just made some encounters far more ridiculous than they needed to be.
@@no.1spidey-fan182 I think Silver Lining was the worst of the lot. Outside of it just being utter chaos that couldn't be kept track of at all, and wasn't really memorable in the process, they took the end of Heist and was like "Oh hey, I survived, later!" with Black Cat. Probably made that DLC retroactively worse in the process.
@@iisanulquiorrahara8 yh that Gotcha with black cat just felt SO WEIRD. She disappears and then reappears to save spidey...out of THIN AIR aftet going missing for a couple weeks. I despise the story from The Heist cause what could've been a really good story was made into a COPOUT rehash of the status quo and made me HATE Felicia as a person...seriously who LIES about to child to ROB somone!?🤦♂️ Silver Sable was annoying but AT LEAST we got new locations, somewhat new enemy types and boss battles🤷♂️. The heist gave me nothing but a crappy story. The 2nd dlc is the best

Games didn't use to be 50+ or even 20+ hours long. The length of MM is closer to the size of what games use to be during the PS3/X360 era and earlier. I actually prefer shorter games to ones that are so long and bloated with so much content just to make it bigger that it's ridiculous like AC Valhalla. There are some exceptions like the Persona franchise but no very many.
