I'd be willing to bet part of the reason it's taking so long as Wesley Snipes problem with racial stuff. He's made comments to the press as well as to the public that is extremely racist. That's one of the reasons why they picked a different blade for the other marvel movies involving him

Its a movie about a black, day-walking vampire who hunts other vampires, with existing storylines and lore to pull from, and they can't get it right. This is sad 😢

I know right, just have it set 100 years in the past of the MCU showing Blades birth of his mom, getting bitten by Dracula and him being born and raised in Britain and then have it be where he fights Dracula and kill him and his mom. Then cut to President Day, 100 years later Dracula is revived and blade must kill him again, but it’s in the modern day MCU
If this movie doesn’t have the appeal and believability of The Queen Damned w/ Ashanti, I don’t want it. I want GOT dark scenes, Batman-like combat, a solid story-line, and at least a decent script. Come on Marvel, in the wake of JM’s controversy and CB’s passing, please throw your weight behind Blade.
They can make Ms Marvel and Echo shows but can't get Blade right?!?! Plus they want Blade to have a daughter in his first MCU film?! I'm sick of this garbage. They just have to throw a "strong female " into everything Disney. That's why Star Wars is dead and the MCU is dying. Plus the horrible writing. They need to introduce characters people have been wanting to see like Nova,and Ghost Rider. I want the MCU to be badass again.

If they just wanted a strong female character the movie would have been put already. They're having trouble writing the movie bc they don't know where to put it. I think they should just save it for the next phase when they focus on mutants and other monsters. It would probably be much easier to find a place to fit it in during that phase.
Not really. Most major films have a 3 year turn around. The only reason this film is getting traction is because of the development issues, otherwise it's not surprising at all for industry vets. Titanic, Phantom Menace, Cabin in the Woods, and hundreds of others took longer to get released.
I think thats ali's whole hang up, he wants it done to perfection, and he def has the talent to kill it in that role...its a clash of where they want it to go......I guess he don't want it to just be another typical marvel movie and I can't blame him for that.
Really surprised Blade is even still on the table at this point just scrap and start fresh I think even when it is released, if it is it will be a nightmare.

I think the reason why MA hasn’t left yet is because it’s basically his project. He’s as involved as Marvel Studios is. Hence there being a lot of weight on him just like the studio. But as long as he’s still passionate about the role things should be ok
I had such hi hopes for this when it was announced and now it seems like they flused it down the toilet. If they blow it ill be soo sad! Could have been amazing.
I suspect a big part of the issue now is making it really tie in with all the recent adjustments to the mcu and the proximity now to what would have been a much later midnight sons film.
It used to be that when Marvel said a movie was coming, you could count on it. We've had a few issues when directors dropped out, etc, but the way it is now, I dont even allow myself to look forward to a project until principal photography begins. I'm so over the Blade situation. Move on Marvel.
5 years..... Cancel the whole project. New directors/ new scripts. Time after Time. Now they say, wait even longer...rush the movie for a release in 2 years. I am a fan....but enough is enough already.
I watched blade 1 and 2 just recently and it still holds up. I really wished they just continued with Wesley. He needs a redemption arc... My favorite actor (since Weird Science) Tony got one...
Really looking forward to Blade. It's always been one of those movies that inspired me and inspired many others and changed vampires to be something literally bad ass man. If they are taking their time on this movie for how long it's been. You can tell the finished product will probably blow everyone out the water when it releases, I hope it's done well.

Blade only appeared in a sort of cameo in Eternals. I think Blade could have appeared in Moon Knight to connect it to something since it would have made me enjoy it more. So either I would put him in a cameo to hold us over or get a director now I can name many directors who could do it. Jordan Peele (the easiest pick), Sam Raimi (because of previous horror experience), Antoine Fuqua, Robert Rodriguez, Barry Jenkins, Dan Trachtenberg, Lexi Alexander, F. Gary Gray, Michael Giacchino (because of experience with Marvel Horror), and finally David S. Goyer because he has experience with Blade. Either way they got options. Maybe SDCC 2024 will reveal something it beats nothing but rumors and leaks.
Last night watching Blade 2’s sword fighting scene when he told scud,”lights”😂…ali has some pretty big shoes to fill and thats AFTER they have a GREAT script after all this time.
Blade had a big run with Dracula in the comics during the 70's. Dracula sold comic book fans on Blade and Dracula had a big run with his own comic. The hero, antihero story could draw a lot of fans.

Marvel just need to remember that Blade does not some long ancient history that is century's long accept maybe his coming was foretold in vampire lore. Maybe through some weapon spirit looking for someone to wield it fight Vampires.
Not too much to not give them a break if Marvel wants to take these setbacks that still are to bring in the midnight sons while Avenger secret wars is still two years from now.

They keep trying to force DEI into the movie. Stop putting Bloodline in the story. Deacon Frost or Baron Blood make fine first villains. Save Dracula , Bloodline, etc for possible sequels.
I'm a blade fan and I want it done right. I don't want anything close to blade trinity so as long as Ali is still attached and willing to move forward then let's get it right and rolling
Roman I don't usually put my two cents in but with this I love the first and second blade films and the third one because Ryan Reynolds was the Fit And Blade here's one of my most favorite Marvel trilogies I do think that mahershala Ali respects the project and really wants to do it right I'm not really with the new stuff but I will definitely go to the theaters to see his rendition of blade
Interesting that marvel fav Ryan Coogler is doing a period piece vampire movie of his own with Michael b. Jordan. Wonder if he got wind of that 1st iteration of the script for Blade in the 1920s.
Seems like filling in the shoes of Wesley Snipes performance is alot bigger than Marvel anticipated. The movie has been announced since 2019 and their still having production issues?
