It stands to reason that Peggy would be faster and stronger than Steve after the serum. He was an 80ilbs skinny kid with multiple medical problems and no military background. She was a healthy highly intelligent woman with years of military and covert experience behind her...The serum would enhance all those attributes. I liked the sword and shield combo...very Wonder Woman of MCU.

My thoughts exactly! One other thing though: did anyone consider the possible consequences if the Super Soldier program had been successful and there were dozens of guys with that power running around after the war? See: Star Trek- Space Seed for the likely answer

The thing about Peggy with a SWORD and SHIELD that many are over looking are the agencies she helped build. Sword of course was something Monica's mother did, but SWORD is still an off shoot of something Peggy had a hand in. I thought that was a nice subtle nod to things in the prime timeline =)

This indicates that Howard "the button pusher" is a genius like Tony, but not quite a hero like Tony. Tony might have climbed in the super soldier pod, and we know for a fact that Tony climbed into the super suit he invented. :-) This first episdoe was fun. I can't wait to see where we go from here. Great reaction, and as always, "For the children."

Cause Howard has shit to live for, and largely is capable of enjoying his life. Tony is less well adjusted for many reasons, originally atoning for his sins, then trying to fix everything cause he knows he probably could.

Unless they found a way to safely freeze him, it's unlikely. Steve had so many serious health problems that it's unlikely he'd survive past the 1980s. He probably wouldn't survive the stasis that Bucky was put into by Hydra, either.

Remember that in the Cap movie, we build up the connection between Peggy and Steve a lot before he gets into the chamber to get the serum. In the movie we are invested in their connection at that point, so in an episode so short they had to build that connection more after the fact for the viewer, and the best way to keep Steve in there is to find a way to have him along side Peggy to build that connection.

My favourite part was how much Peggy enjoyed herself as she discovered the extent of her powers. And it was doubly fun watching you all enjoy her enjoying herself. I also love that (like in the original story) she didn't need to see Steve all muscled up to see what was great about him.

Um. Peggy is working out some...frustration. And, I gotta say, I like thick Peggy. Overall this was very much in line with the "What If ?" Comics, where they truncate a long story arc into one comic. I grew up a Black comic book nerd in the 80's so I knew very much what to expect 🙂

I think Steve kicked a few guys off that huge plane he ended up crashing but I get what you mean, Alyssa. I honestly could watch an entire franchise of Captain Carter and be a happy man. Hayley Atwell is great and she kind of got a raw deal. Wish we could see the impact this change had on the later events of the MCU but sadly, What If? Is notorious for leaving one wanting more. As ever, you ladies are fun and lovely . Thanks for the vid!

BTW, Peggy Carter is broadly based on real female Special Operations Executive (SOE) officers especially Nancy Wake and not just that Hayley Atwell actually looks a lot like her! Look at all her decorations in the table-and her rank! And also note the year Agent Lake died, 2011. Guess what movie came out that year? The Watchers can't interfere because they did that once with a less advanced Alien race by giving them simple Nuclear technology which resulted in said Alien race destroying ,themselves, since that time all Watchers made it their law to only watch..

The "What If..." comic book debuted in 1977. I was 12 and I loved the concept. The Watcher, who's name is Uatu, watches our sector of space. His race is as old as the universe and all they do is watch events that affect the universe/multi-verse. Uatu has been known to break the rules...occasionally.

Steve I think saw his powers as a means to transcend his natural body, serve his country and do his part. Peggy I believe saw her powers as a means to transcend the societal limits on women at that time and do her part.

Also I forgot she didn't get the talk from the Doc about how it would enhance what's inside of her. So she was already a good soldier. So now she's a great one. But both had their own single sacrifice moment. Steve having the Iron Man suit was more What If Howard got the Tesseract and made the first Iron Man suit. And Amber criticizing the job of The Watcher 🤦🏽‍♂️.

I think of it more as a nod to the Cthulhu from Lovecraftian lore. Also on Agents of SHIELD it was established that originally Hydra is a cult. They worship this big extra dimensional octopus monster.

I am the Watcher watching What We're Watching and I like what I'm seeing. I won't interfere but I must say my Queen looks good in green! Great reaction as always my Queens especially when y'all said Shut Up in unison when the hater tried to take credit for Peggy's and Stark's success! Who knew regular Bucky had jokes? No Vormir for The Red Skull! I'm guessing Stark, Bucky and Steve started S.H.I.E.L.D. Captain Carter was totally BADAZZ and the animation rocks. Can't wait till we see her again. If the other stories are half as good as this, this series is going to be awesome! Even with the changes it was true to the story we knew.

You're underestimating Steve at around 7:30 - he threw a man into a propeller, remember? He killed a LOT of people in WWII. On the other hand, Carter was in far better starting shape than Steve, and was already a highly trained agent and spy, so when the serum multiplied what she was, she got EVEN better. :D

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this because I'm not a live action crossing over into cartoon person (so like if a series starts off live action like Star Wars. I don't care for any cartoon versions of it, like The Clone Wars animated series). But this was AWESOME! I'm so excited about this! And the fact they brought back the actors who played the live action characters was a plus for me. I'll probably cry on Chadwick's episode as well. It did bug me that they didn't let Peggy do some things by herself like Captain America did. Like right off Steve was her side kick. I get that it was so we could keep track of Steve during the story, but it was still a bit triggering. What I'm interested in though is what influence and effect a super powered female role model would have had on society at that time. I know this is outside of the MCU scope so we'll never get a store on this, but just think about it for a moment: what real-world effect would representation like Captain Carter have had on the womanist/femenist movement? Would that have had such a drastic positive effect on more young women and girls, so much so that we would have won the right to vote sooner? Would we be closer to equality now? Sorry I just went into a geek spiral 🤭 😆. Ummm this show is cool lol.

On the nitpicking. Captain Carter did a better job and got the tesseract early, with which Stark was able to power the suit. In The Captain America movie, the allied forces NEVER had the tesseract until after it was retrieved in the ice. Even in the comic books, things changed in What If stories. Giant man became the strongest avenger while in an Iron man suit Wolverine killed the Hulk, which lead to the destruction of earth. What if stories always take a while turn. They don't just switch characters.

In the comic book canon the beings that became The Watchers did once interfere with a planet/society that was in need of help the people were unprepared for the advanced technology and wiped themselves out. The Watchers then vowed to observe but never again to interfere with a society's development.

I actually liked it, I liked the fact that peggy was shown a stronger captain America than steve which makes sense, i would have really liked if this went on for like another 10 mins cause I felt it was a bit short and I think it would have been a better if Steve was shown dead or atleast as a winter soldier rather than just shown lying around like nothing but nonetheless I loved it as Steve was shown as iron Man, so yeah overall 7.5 from me and considering I gave Endgame 9.5, I'd say it's pretty good

About Alyssa's nitpick about why couldn't Peggy do super hero stuff on her own in our timeline, In the current MCU timeline, Stark never didn't have the tessaract to power up a suit. He only did it in this show because Captain Carter was able to recover the tessaract very early on. It's was gave him the idea in this show of how to use it's power.

Even in the regular MCU, Captain America doesn’t fight totally alone on the big missions. Cap is superhuman but not invincible. If you look at all of the CA movies, Steve fights as the nucleus of a combat team. Just like any other soldier. Everyone needs someone to watch their back. So why would anyone thing Peggy didn’t require backup as well.
