I feel like the scene with flash getting shot is more indicative of how these show portray speedsters. One minute they're the fastest thing in the universe breaking physics and with super reaction speed the whole world looks completely still to them. And then the bad guy does something the writers say "tricks" the speedster (which a lot of them are also quite smart and think faster too) and they're instantly incapacitated by something that shouldn't have even come close to doing that

Okay, this is me revisiting the aspect of the Thor's hammer sketch that bothers me. Worthiness for the hammer doesn't come from how much danger you willingly throw yourself into. It is about the purity of your heart and ideals. This is usually denoted by a higher sense of purpose to something other than yourself and your own desires. Tony, despite the risks he is taking, is continuously selfish through most of his life, not often considering the effects his actions have on others and it is one of his largest and most compelling character flaws. That even effects his drive to save the world. He does so from his own selfish and fearful interpretation. Hawkeye has seen too much, too weighed down by deaths and murders, and also doesn't care for any higher purpose than his family. Not good enough. Red Skull does what he does for the sake of his own ego and craving power for the sake of power and puts no value on the lives of others. Loki is doing what he is doing out of a sense of his own justice for feeling denied his birthright and craving any method at all to set his own personal grievance back in order. He may believe his rule would be what's best, but such petty motivations prevent the use of the hammer.
