Yup and we spray the hell out of the fields here in Watsonville CA. As a child I would never wash my berries my dad would even have my sisters and me go fetch fresh picked ones from the other side of the park. Great times tbh.
Crispr technology could dramatically reduce the requirements for fungicide, but the consumer would prefer 'natural' strawberries that have been covered with pesticide.
