There are so many generations of people who contributed their DNA to the current royal family it hardly matters at this point. Through the very same line (the first one mentioned) the Queen is descended from Mary Tudor, Duchess of Suffolk.

What a weird comment. Anne Boleyn’s daughter was still Queen Elizabeth the 1st. Also it’s not like Elizabeth wasn’t allowed to marry or forbidden to do so. It was her choice to not get married or have children. She knew that the person after her wouldn’t have her direct bloodline. I’m sure she’s content knowing she was one of the best Monarchs and not some random 11x grandmother.

@@a.munroe William Seymour, who married Frances Devereaux, was from THE a Seymour family descended from both Jane Seymour's brother and Mary Tudor, sister of Henry VIII. So I don't think Henry or the Seymours would be displeased.

I think Mary Boleyn appears to have had the pretty plumpness of face that Elizabeth of York had, so that could easily have attracted Henry V111 to her, as he was supposed to be very close to his mother.

A fantastic video Lyndell, I wasn't expecting such a video even though Claire had mentioned the Queens connection to Mary Boleyn in her recent 'Short' about Catherine Carey. I knew that the Queen and Princess Diana were descendants of Mary Boleyn but of course didn't exactly know how. It was so good of Claire to take the time to make the connection for us through the many generations. Some people would find all the names confusing or even a tad boring but not in this video. It was very clear and fascinating. I loved the old rotating paper animation on the screen. We have Tim to thank for that I'm sure. Yes Prince William has Boleyn blood running through his veins from both sides of the family. Funnily enough, his lovely wife Kate Middleton is also of Boleyn descent so their three adorable children have more than one dose of Boleyn blood in them.

"Inbred" isn't the correct term anyway; it's "intermarried"- & the royals are more intermarried, but it's not drastically more.

BTW, the uncle of Queen Elizabeth II, formerly known as King Edward, VIII, later styled Duke of Windsor, married my cousin, Bessie Wallis Warfield Simpson.

The mother of Ann and Mary Boleyn came from the Howard Family. The Howard Family is related to my father's side of the family.

Kate Middleton is also descended from Mary Boleyn

It's all about the number of generations between you and the person, so your first cousin once removed is the child of your first cousin.

Genealogy is my passion!!! When it's mentioned about "twice removed", that refers to two generations removed. There's a possibility that Henry VIII is my first cousin 13 times removed, meaning there are 13 generations between him and me.

Well Mary and William Carey were marred 4 years before their first child was born. Very unusual in those days. Most women had their first baby before their first anniversary.

Im trying to untangle my connection to Thomas Lygon there was a Mary Lygon who may be or not have some connection to an ancestor Temperance Bailey thru her mother Cicely Reynolds. That lived in Jamestown Va. 1610 or so. There was something about a road that divided land between two sisters that were daughters or grandchildren of Thomas Lygon. That I read about on my family tree.

How COOL is THAT?!?!

One of my ancestors was Temperance Bailey who's mother lived across the James River from the Flowerdew 100. My ancestor was no doubt named after her being neighbors. Jordans Journey was the plantation that my ancestors husband had named beggars bush at first. Jordan was a passenger on the sea venture ship that wrecked in about 1609 in Bermuda. Francis West, Stephan Hopkins, John Rolph and Temperance Flowerdews first husband, the Governor of the Colony, were shipwrecked for about 10 months and built two ships from the wreckage of the seaventure. Rolph brought the tobacco seeds, married Pocahontas and changed Virginia forever!
