The Big Bang Theory created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007, and concluded on May 16, 2019, having broadcast 279 episodes over 12 seasons.
The show originally centered on five characters living in Pasadena, California: Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), both physicists at Caltech, who share an apartment; Penny (Kaley Cuoco), a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon's similarly geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). Over time, supporting characters were promoted to starring roles, including neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch), and comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman).
The show was filmed in front of a live audience and produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. It ultimately reached the no. 1 spot in its eleventh season. It was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series from 2011 to 2014 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series four times for Parsons. In total, it won seven Emmy Awards from 46 nominations. Parsons also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Co

It's weird, they could have made the character insufferable, or really annoying, or played her for laughs, but they wrote her sympathetically, which is rare for people of faith in sitcoms. She was warm, and kind and sympathetic. Even when you laughed at some of her beliefs, it was still very genuine and you really enjoyed her as a person and not just as a foil for Sheldon.

Let's be fair, I love the character but she comes off as sweet and sympathetic a large part because Sheldon is the golden child of the family. She's said outright she considers her other children "dumber than soup" and we saw in this clip she literally calls her son's girlfriend a whore. Its the opposite effect of why we hate Beverly, because Leonard is the black sheep in her eyes and she treats him as such.

Mary had her flaws but she was both a good mother and a good Christian. The most scandalous thing she did was Baptize CeCe without Georgie’s and Mandy’s permission (which is bad, but at least she was also very accepting of Sheldon & it seems she became more accepting of other faiths later) Beverly was a bad mother and a bad psychologist.

Mayim Bialek was perfectly cast as Amy Farrah Fowler. She made that character go from robotic and creepy to a semi normal woman. I loved her character.

I have from the first been in awe of how much depth and warmth and nuance Laurie Metcalf brought to this character, initially without a lot of help from the writing. (And I'm squarely in the demographic that would have been perfectly satisfied snickering at a Mary Cooper somebody just phoned in.) Metcalf not only turned Mary into an actual PERSON, she also managed to make the idea that she and Sheldon could be part of the same family so believable, you could build a whole 'nother show about it.

The degree of favoritism displayed as well as her hypocrisy made her character so cringe early on in young Sheldon. It's no wonder he turned out as he did. And gives insight on Georgie's road to accomplishment in sales.

To be fair we didn't see Georgie until season 12. we don't know how many years it took for him to be as successful as he is now and we don't know how he was doing as an adult when the events of the Big Bang Theory started.

Depise being a Atheist Sheldon was ironically her only child who was kinda having a Christian life in sort of way, I mean he barely drink, he did not had babies outside marriage, he had a decent job and she thought that he always will be alone and that makes her sad, but she always understood that how the world works. In the other hand, she thought Georgie and Missy would have a normal life, instead Georgie get 3 divorces and is dating no so good ladies, Missy get pregnated and divorce. In her criticism against Georgie she didn't say he was not a good man or hardworking, but she criticized his' partners choices (it appears after he and Mandy finally separate, Georgie had relationships with women who are not so kind as Mandy was) and that he was dumb (and yes he was dumb, but he has street smarts, but I guess you get tired of speaking with someone with low general culture, and for what I'm seeing in YS, she actually aprecciate education, of course always putting her Christian values first).

I thought I saw a scene of Mary Cooper in either Leonard's and Sheldon's apartment or in Leonard's and Penny's Apartment with the entire crew of friends, minus Sheldon and Amy, for some reason. The guys and girls were discussing something exciting in the scientific community while Mary and Penny were in the kitchen preparing to leave. Mary heard them and gave an epic response that dumbfounded the gathering. Mary then replied that someone had to proofread all of Sheldon's earlier work, and she had to make corrections because some of what he wrote would have gotten him laughed at. She then continued that she learned a thing or two from those days, and then she and Penny left the apartment. My memory is imperfect, but a lack of that scene makes me wonder if I had dreamed it.

Sorry to do this, because the video is amazing, and the creators worked really hard on it, but some instances had wrong season numbers. For example, the instance where Alfred and Mary left the restaurant together, the video showed Season 9, Episode 1, when it is a part of Season 10. Similarly, when Mary was explaining to Beverly how she knew Sheldon was going to be smart, it showed Season 7, when it is a part of Season 8.

Is it just me but in young Sheldon, they made George’s character completely different. I mean there is a few similarities but it’s kinda like weird that Mary was kind of talking trash about her dead husband. In my opinion it was just kind of off.

I grew up watching Laurie Metcalfe as Jackie in Rosanne. Loved her in that, so when I saw her as Mary Cooper in BBT, I was thrilled. She's an absolutely terrific actress and deserves so much more recognition for her work. And seeing her go against Christine Baranski is absolutely gold!

I love Mary Cooper so much. Because in my opinion, she’s probably the most positive representation I’ve seen of a religious mother. Because she actually believes what she preaches. She believes and respects her son, even if she doesn’t always agree with it. She never stops her kids and she always does everything she can to help them. I have no doubt she had a hard hard times, especially after George died. But she is a wonderful mother and one, but I think a lot of people would be proud to have. What a great character. ❤

I know YS has retconned some stuff from TBBT, but older Mary seems more likely to hold Sheldon accountable compared to younger Mary. It’s possible that George Sr’s death and generally growing older gave her some perspective on how she raised Sheldon, and she’s trying to make amends.

Mary in young Sheldon was a bit of a weak and fake religious nut but in tBBT her faith seems much more convincing ans she is much more assured. Her faith is represented with humour but sympathetically and respectfully. I really liked the senior version Mary Cooper. Nobody, not even Leonard's mother can put her down!

They've all moved on and are doing other projects now. Let it go: it's over and ended on a high note. If you try to bring them back for a "special " it might not be any good and will tarnish the shows legacy. It's done. Get over it and move on like the actors did.

Let's have a married Raj and show Howard and Bernadette's family. What are Penny and Leonard doing? A one hour Christmas special for 2024 would be fabulous!

Better yet lets have a Big Bang Theory where Sheldon and Amy are trying to figure out how come they have Kids who are popular and good looking, and with no Smart Genes whatsoever. And of course Mrs. Cooper being a Meemaw.🎉 Theyre in a Science Highschool where the two said Kids (Girls names Georgie and Boy's name Jr. As in Sheldon Jr.) Are the cool kids trying their best to live up to their Genius Parents.

the whole ''i had Sheldon tested, he's not crazy'' isn't true. they were just told that because the doctors couldn't stand having such insanity there. what's more hilarious, Leonard's mum is a bad psychiatrist, a hack. if leonard's mum was sheldon's, the show may have lasted longer.
