One of Paul's best, and sung by Mary with such gusto ,a very happy song, been one of favorite ever ,im considering it for my song as l go through the curtain for the last time ,l think it would be perfect
Mary was and is a talent heard so seldom. Thank you for letting the younger generation hear such angelic music from my era. I am 77 and have never forgotten Mary's perfect voice.
This artist was like a beautiful Firework. She rose quickly, exploded on the scene in beautiful display, awed all with her voice then illuminated the sky, spread out quickly then faded but wasn never forgotten for the pleasure she gave.
When I was in low teen ager, I've been just listening to an English Music Program in Japan. I heared a several bars of this song and HELP at the beginning. Since then, almost 70 years, I've never heared the song of Goodbye and her lovely voice. Thanks my GOD!
Goodbye Mary Hopkin Please don't wake me up too late Tomorrow comes and I will not be late Late today when it becomes tomorrow I will leave to go a-way Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye) Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye Songs that lingered on my lips Excite me now and linger on my mind Leave your flowers at my door I'll leave them for the one who waits behind Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye) Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye Do do do do.......... Do do do do.......... Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye) Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye Far away my lover sings a lonely song And calls me to his side When a song of lonely love invites me on I must go to his side Goodbye, (goodbye) goodbye (goodbye) Goodbye, goodbye, my love, goodbye
Ageless I would say. Do any you remember the Mary Tyler Moore Show? I was a kid. She did this version of Those were the days. Probably with Steve Harvey. That song reminds me of total sadness at my own inadequacy as to plan my life. Enough said. This woman is pure brilliance. And a face to match.
This is not a granny song. This is a really nice English melody, just the kind that Lennon liked (but could never write...) Granny songs came later in McCartney's career, on his solo albums and Wings.
" This lovely song reminds me of " Nicola" and I would have loved to have met her in " This Life." ...."Sadly " it will have to be in " The Afterlife."x
Threw her career away because she didn't like Paul Mccartney's control -fool,the greatest songwriter wrote it for her ,no1 hit-unbeleveable disappeared into obscurity!
