I am a South Arican man of 73 years. The fragile honest beauty of this girl and the visible innocence of youth make Mary a very very beautiful person inside and out. I am nostalgic about those days. The combination of all the above and together with a remarkably good voice and technique is rather unknown these days. Thanks for fond special memories.

Wow as a French man, I think when she sang in French was a great interpretation! Magnificent! Also I feel like "falling in love with you" by Elvis borrowed a lot from this.
I never heard this song translated in English before... What a beautiful song, expressing genuine love without taint of lust so prevalent these days... Mary was and is a noble person, always keeping her integrity... What a gift to this dark world of today....

Mary Hopkins, wonderful, I watched and heard her sing this song on the TV. It was the " Hughie Green show , opportunity knocks" . Her voice was a delight to listen to. Many many thanks for sharing, brought back such wonderful memories for me.
Shit I adored since I heard for the first time she singing Those were the days and never heard she singing this song that I only knew through Joan Baez's voice. Great interpretion by this beautiful Welsh girl.
My church organist could not keep a straight face when people ordered this piece played at weddings with no idea of what the French words actually say about love. The English version is very optimistic.

@@abberationify I saw The Seekers with Judith sing this in Melbourne in 1993 and it brought the house down - absolutely sensational. It appeared on an early album of The Seekers songs but wasn't a hit in itself but since their 1993 re-union concerts has become more noted.
Sounds vaguely familiar. I remember an American chap with loose hips and rhinestone adornments who made this popular yet never gave credit to the original.
