This has been off youtube for years and Im so glad someone put it back up. This is one of the most emotive performances I've ever seen. This song is literally a prayer
I checked out the 1st time I heard this song in 2002. Alive or not, Mary gave me permission to scream the same words. Regardless of the calendar you use as a metric, it is 2002 America, for a hopeless Chicago woman bearing my name.
I truly believe people were delivered from oppression through this song. This was not a performance. This was an anointed moment in time. Some years ago I adopted this as my anthem. I went back to school and got my Bachelors Degree and got serious about my business. Thanks Mary for letting God use you.
Congrats on getting your degree. 🎉 This is my theme song, too. Only it's my own mind that creates the drama. Severe anxiety. I'm going to be okay one day soon. God is my guide. Anyway....maybe TMI but everyone has their issues and can relate to Mary's drama or their own.
@carolwilliams8840 I have just come across your very inspiring post. Congratulations for your commitment to life long learning! Yes indeed MJB's No More Drama is very empowering.
I cried the first time, every other time, and I'm crying again. This song is awesome but heart-wrenching... and I'm not the only one who feels like this.
One of the most moving, emotional, powerful & amazing live performances that I have ever seen! It was like Mary was possessed by the spirit of her soul. Just incredible! I come back often to watch.
Love the expressions on the faces of the Backing Singers at the end of the video - even they appear to be saying "Wow, where did that performance come from?"
River Rea Steve Yes,the backing singers appear more and more joyful as Mary cranks up her performance. Their expressions seem to convey the respect that she rightly deserves. I love it!
You can see the musicians feeding off the energy Mary is bringing as the song builds and the backing singers are clapping her at the end of the song. This performance is very special.
Always come back to this show for the powerful, goosepumping, heartbreaking, tears bringing climax from 3:58 till 4:48... I'm not a believer but OMG what a prayer...
@@d0cn0tes They're just very reserved unless the drinks are pouring. Once drunk, they are romantic and emotionally sloppy poets. (I used to live & perform there.)
This is the best performance of this song Mary has ever done. I've watched countless live performances of this song in particular and this is it. Nothing else comes close.
I’m not really into this type of music, more of a rock fan myself. However, this is one of the most powerful performances I have ever seen. Absolute pure emotion and class
It's an astonishing piece of live music. Beautifully played and sung. Love the resolute and strong backing vocalists holding it all together while Mary rolls out her soul. If you don't shed a tear at this, then count yourself lucky; you have obviously had no drama in your life.
This song is like an exorcism... All the pain, drama, overwhelming complex feelings gets validated, has an empowering voice and declared that it has to leave
Mary & Fantasia are two of the most powerful soulful packed women of our time. This performance embodies heart and soul America needs. Beautifully sang🙌🏾and the music, background singers, stage presence♥️ love it always with Mary
Simply no words The whole band is just tight, tight tight! Towards the end the backing singers start to smile as they know they have just been part of something very special. I have been watching this every so often from the first time I saw it on Later. It never gets old!
God almighty you can feel the emotion in this performance. Hairs standing up on the back of my neck. Absolutely beautiful, soulful performance 💯. She drained her soul on this one. A true queen of soul music. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
@Maria Seidi Hey love nice to meet u I've always wanted to travel the world and Germany is one place I would like to visit. I totally agree with u she's definitely gotten me through a lot with her gift even as a man.
@Maria Seidi IKR this pandemic is putting a damper on everything. And I apologize my sister. Africa is my number one spot I would like to go. These times are really different. Its scary to go anywhere now. I know we are not supposed to live in fear but there's always something every other decade that has been put out in the air to attack man kind.
Every time I get goosebumps and I'm nearly cryin' because this is 100 percent with every word and tone how I feel. It touches you directly in your heart in seconds the song starts
This is such a gut-wrenching, powerful performance! And there's so much energy in that room that the drummer nearly comes flying out of his seat at about the 3:37 minute mark.
Never forgotten this performance on the TV. Absolutely one of the best ever performances by any artist. Impossible to sing like that if you’ve not had real pain. MJB is incredible ♥️
I remember playing this to my daughter when she was 10; i thought it would be a generic kitchen dance. Her mouth opened, she asked me to sit down and listen. She would often bang this out in her teens and her mates. A true soul song. Thank you Mary, for being a true part of our family soul.
The musicians, background singers, along with a well written song by James Harris & Terry Lewis, and, of course, the magnificent, soulful voice of Mary J Blige--Brilliant !!!!
This song saved my mind.when I first heard this that when I realized that I was was a beautiful queen and I don't have to go that again. And now this is the year 2022 thank you Mary may God bless and continue to use you because today I use your song to try to incourage other ladies no more drama
I remember seeing this show. I had never heard Mary before. I couldn't take my eyes off her. This touched me so deeply. It still does. So real. Amazing. Thank you. 🌻.
So you grew up singing. You're the best singer any of your friends know. You won every talent contact you ever entered. You have a cool career, making bank on tour as a background singer for top acts. Then one night you're doing your thing, you're bopping 1960's style to the jam and sounding pretty darn good. Then Mary starts to sing and you question why you got out of bed.
I feel every bit of her in this song it's so special to me and I'll play it over and over everyday because it touches my soul what she's saying and I feel her pain and I know she know the pain I'm going through because she been through it bless you Mary j Blige for doing this cuz I believe you wrote this just for me but I know it was for you for what you was going through but you meant this for me at this time
Thank you so much for this long. It puts me in the place of both of my parents. My father passing with a 100%. Oxygen and me being able to speak to my mother and ask her nicely. Shirley, are you tired? She nodded her head and I told her nicely. Mom, go be with dad. So neither one of them are in any more pain. Thank you for this song. It really gets to my heart when I hear It. That makes me cry, but I know that they are not suffering.Thank you again god bless
