I’m happy to see you’re felling a bit better day. Your hair is looking back to normal again. I agree with you about the kits. They should feature newer yarn that you would like to buy more of. 😊
that sounds fun - hope you make some beautiful things - I can understand the subscription - you should love what you spend your money on - have a beautiful week
I agree I think they are mill ends. Very nice yarn. In kits the yarn should be something we could buy more of. They would sell even more yarn. What if I want to make more afghans or blankets or make larger, tension? Monthly crochet kit same. I don’t always like patterns but, try to use yarn for something. If I could buy more yarn I’d buy more. 🤷♀️
I agree with you about the kits-especially mystery quarterly kits where you aren’t given the yarn information. Label, please. I did join a mystery box club with Arcane Fibreworks, but it came with so many options and you choose the yarn weight. It’s yarn only-no pattern. My kind of mystery, just a surprise as to the color. Have a great day! Loved the Boggy Creek session yesterday. The Brigade is doing fabulous work!
That was how Knitcrate was. I think Hooks & Needles is like that too. With Knitcrate you knew you were gonna get nice yarn. It's not that I am unhappy with the yarn itself, but I expect better from a subscription club kit.
Lynette, I wish someone would make an app where You can match Your yarn with a bunch of patterns and choices of crochet ami or knit! It sure would be helpful ❤
I think Raverly does that. Its a free website. I don't really know how to use it, but Laura, (Mad Mimi's Crochet) uses it all the time. I think she even keeps track of her WIPS & FOs using that site. It has free and paid patterns, I think.
I agree with you on this mystery club. Yes, it is nice yarn and a beautiful pattern. It probably is a good value. It is just so plain. The least they could do is send an extra piece of paper, giving the yarn stats. I know if I was in a club, waiting for a mystery box, I would be disappointed. I make alot of blankets, and Im sure it will work up very nice, but this bag is so plain. I wonder if it is a paid pattern. Maybe you should find a different kit club. Good luck.
Good morning Lynette!! I agree with you on the kits. I like labels on my yarns too. How would you know the laundering instructions also. All the Boggy Blankets on last night live were so beautiful. Have a wonderful day sweetie! 🙏💜🤗🧶
Thanks for the good information! I think if you're putting all that work into an afghan, you would really want to have care instructions from the label to know how to wash it.
I wish I did more research on MM. I'm supposed to get my first monthly kit tomorrow. I joined because I was told that most of their kits are for useful items and not just decorative (junk) that no one I know would want. As I'm on a budget and learning to crochet, I thought this would be the way to go. Now I don't know.
the monthly club and the quarterly afghan kit club are 2 different memberships, items and cost. I only get the quarterly afghan kit club and the last two that I have gotten are not discontinued yarns, this last recent one is unlabelled mill ends and to me it looked and felt similar to Mary Maxim's value yarn. I think they might be using discontinued yarns in their monthly crochet club kits. I do agree that they should not be using discontinued yarns and they should be using yarns that have yarn labels.
I got the same kit, I think it's probably Mary Maxim value yarn and it's not pound of love and this yarn to me feels like it's 100% acrylic yarn. I do agree that their yarn should have a label. This is only the second kit from this quarterly that I have gotten.
Yes, I'm sure its a nice, but value acrylic. No label just screams "mill ends" to me. I do not have a problem with mill ends, if that is what I know I am buying. I just don't like them in a kit.
I no longer order their mystery bags either after so many disappointing deliveries. I also got a sock bag with only dark yarns. Also I am noticing how long it is taking for MM to ship
Good morning, Lynette. I betcha Juan can identify your yarn. I don't think it is Pound of Love as it looks kind of fuzzy or hairy, Another thing is without bands how do you wash and dry it. I have long been wondering on Mary Maxim mystery boxes. I never joined.
