Mary Pierce vs Justine Henin 2005 US Open 4th round Highlights. If you like my highlights please consider making a donation to my paypal www.paypal.me/... really grateful for whatever you can give during these covid hit times.
So sad Mary didn't win a major title in 2005, but she played awesome here. What a great competitor too, smiling throughout the match and clapping Justine's winners. The opposite of Henin lol.
We need to remember the positives here. Pierce revenged her both defeat in 2015 slam finals, within the same year. She lost to Henin in Roland garros final, but revenged here in US open. She lost in the US open final to clijsters, but revenged in year end championships.
I have always loved Mary for her smiles on the court. I remember her 2006 match when she had her career-ending knee injury against Zvonareva and I remember feeling so sick to my stomach seeing her in such agony and screaming. I was hoping she would make a comeback, she deserved a Champion's send-off.
I always loved Mary Pierce's service motion. . . . . a simple production which basically stayed the same for her whole professional life and obviously made her a lot of money!
Totally!! If she hadn't had so many injuries (not to mention the monster Father issues) in her life/career, she'd easily have won many more Grand Slams.. There still isn't anyone (male or female) who can time the ball like her!!
Peter Sneddon Lindsay Davenport for that matter would be most similar to how she can time the ball like Mary pierce ... an too bad Mary didn’t keep this level in the final as that might have took out Kim clijsters
Very good match ! .... both played on high level ... Mary is fantastic , uneven but when she was up, she could beat anyone ! I wish she could have won at least 1 US open and 1 Wimbledon. If she had this level of tennis in the late 90s , she would have reached number 1 ! 2005 was a great year for her ... unfortunately all those hard matches fragilized her knee 😥😪
Mary played awesome in this match. It wasn't anything to do with Henin's bad play as the commentators led on. Henin fought like no tomorrow, but Pierce was just to good. Great match indeed.

Good for Pierce in this one, she seemed like a good player and a nice person too... her knee injury was a real tragedy. 2005 with both Henin and Federer near peaking - this was the best time for tennis ever. You could still go to net and even slice, since the conditions weren't so miserably slow back then. And Pierce's flatter groundstrokes certainly benefitted.
Nice payback for Pierce in this match after the French Open final she lost to Henin that year. If not for injuries Pierce could easily have won 2 or 3 more grand slams. Such powerful ground strokes and when she was on nobody could beat Pierce.
Henin was very shaky 2005.. first round loss at Wimbledon. She was ailing with a hamstring injury.. an it was here as well.. Mary was on fire.. I don’t think she was this hot am hitting so clean an early in her final though
Justine was only good against weak-minded players, and players who were poor movers. Against a Mary Pierce or a Serena Williams, Justine was just another player.
You don’t really know what you’re talking about. Justine was 4-1 against Pierce. Also, “weak-minded” and “poor mover” pretty much sums up Mary’s main weaknesses. Also, Justine was 6-8 against Serena which is pretty incredible considering it’s Serena!
You obviously know very little about tennis or Justine Henin for that matter. You sound like a fool. Henin was the best player of her generation after Serena. Idiot! Henin owned Pierce but I loved Pierce and was happy to see her get some payback here. She just outplayed Henin.
