Mary so beautiful! I think Flo was even more beautiful!! So so sorry that Flo had to have the horrible things happen to her it really affect s your confidence!!
Congratulations Tim Lampley for winning the Emmy for Short Documentary for this Bio of Mary Wilson! Well done piece and well deserved recognition for you and my fav Supreme!
Ok. But Miss Wilson could have done much better if she was as manipulative as Miss Ross. At the beginning when they started to sing, Diana was whinning like a dog. Since thence, she had improved greatly. And Mary had a great voice too. Sad she is no more!
Mary Wilson was the most beautiful of the trio; and on the top of that, she did have a great voice. With a little help from a good producer, she could have become as popular as Diana Ross, if not more. But I am happy she has become a legend. She will not be forgotten. She was my preference, and will always be.
Mary is a very Beautiful woman also she deserves more, I like her very much she was Supreme all the way and no one can ever take that away from her a true star and is very talented in her own right
I will never forget the time I saw The Supremes 50 years ago on February 4,1967.Their songs sounded so much like hearing it on the records or radio and was not lip synced. I met her in May of 1998.She was very entertaining and I just had to hug her and tell her she was still the sexy one and l loved her and to get her autograph. She was very sweet.
Mary Wilson holds the record for longest gap 30years between Billboard Charting singles -Between Red Hot and Time to move on, which I am one of the featured remixers on... Go Mary!
Today I woke up this morning and learn that supreme Lady Mary Wilson has passed away. it is true death is like a thief in the night when it comes. Miss Mary Wilson you will be missed but you will never be forgotten.
Mary 💗 Wilson I call her one #### of a woman! She just keeps getting better with time. Beauty that cuts better than any Laser, a singing talent that takes second to no one. Amazing sense of style, class, Mary I love you, Bill. Why do people hit #1? Because their ### good! She’s just too good to be true, what an amazing complexion, Mary at 22,, my my.
That is true. But Gordy was in love with Diana. And sometimes a man will listen to his heart, instead of his head. He gave her almost everything that she wanted... to impress her, and in a vein attempt to win her love.
Mary is doing just fine. Sometimes events in our lives brings us to greater heights. Mary is still to this day making money from being a Supreme. She isn't living in a ghetto. The silent voices are Flo and Cindy, but Diana and Mary are still in our conciousness.
Awesome, very informative short documentary! Can't believe I never saw it before now. As an old school music fan, these are the kinds of videos I look for! I will definitely watch it again and again! Bravo!!!!
The Best Motown / Supremes books written are Dreamgirl by Mary Wilson , All That Glittered My Life with The Supremes, by Tony Turner and Secrets of a Sparrow by Diana Ross. All three share basically the same stories but from the writers personal upfront view and feelings.
diana's book was horrible. I wanted my money back, the only thing I remember is that she said, "The girls treated me badly or that she was almost robbed in Africa. I can't remember anything interesting about that book at all. Tony Turner's was the best. full of insider dirt. he should write the screenplay.
I found out that Diana Ross is not as rich as you think. Info from a reliable source. stock market source. Mary works steady and her income flows in from several ventures. She sits on boards ,make public appearances and she has her college degree, something that has always wanted.
kevin harrison I feel the same...i think she did all she could when Flo was in the supremes. but after Flo was out of the group THATS when she could of helped Florence more.
@@BriNic317 Well, actually, she could "not"! There were so many legal things going on, and restricting things that Mary couldn't touch or violate! Flo, when she DID interview let it be known that SOME things and factors going on, SHE couldn't and wouldn't speak on during That time. She knew as well as many others that day, that Mafia was highly infiltrated into the law and could do lots that would go unchallenged. She even warned Mary to be careful! Mary had HER hands full trying to KEEP positivity upon the Supremes' image and Momentum and getting Cindy up to speed while weathering the storm no one really saw had hit.... Thanks to her diplomacy, because she WAS Unhappy. She made the best of it AND kept in touch with Flo affirming her spirit as best she could. You can't DO any better. No one ELSE did ANY of that! Flo also didn't WANT handouts from anyone but what was HERS, and fought her OWN battles. It was just a different world and we can't look at it with today's eyes and think we understand and make proper judgments. But tho Motown had it out for Flo, Mary still helped her on more ways than ANYONE knew, and eventually ALMOST got her OUT of her defeat! NO ONE ELSE EVEN CAME CLOSE! :'-(
@@stage7 TRUE. Motown knew how to divide and conquer. back when they had had five number ones on the Pop charts, their contract was over and they could have negotiated a better contract but Diana had eyes on being solo and Berry could have poisoned the group by threatening to disband them if they didn't resign. Mary had to go along with the game or be left out. He also arranged contracts at intervals where he could drop you at will.If only Mary and Flo and Diana could have stuck together during those renegotiations they could have been truly wealthy, but Diana was out for Diana and Mary had to again, Play the Game.
The following Albums have Mary doing a lot of the lead or co-lead vocals: Floy Joy (1972) The Supremes (1975) High Energy (1976) Mary, Scherrie and Susaye (1977) Also from 1962-1971 Wilson sang lead or co-lead on about a dozen or so released songs in the catalog, including: Cant Take my Eyes Off Of You- Touch- Bridge Over Troubled Water-Falling In Love With Love- The Tears- Ballad of Davey Crockett and more. Never understood why people refer to her as just the alto harmony in the group with so much lead recording even during the Ross era.
In the 2nd installment of her Autobiographies "Supreme Faith-Someday We'll Be Together" Wilson records that Berry Gordy was bragging to her how he and Diana Ross were going to "make It" e.g. be big time successes. Wilson retorted she would make it too. She said Berry paused and replied "yeah but Diana and I are gonna fly and you'll have to go door-to-door". Turns out he was right. He failed to consider two thing though; going door-to-door builds physical and mental stamina, while what goes up must come down. Mary and Diana are the classic example of the Tortoise and the Hare if ever there was one.
