In this episode of A Tour of the 50 States, I take a brief look at the modern geography of Maryland as well as it's flag and history. Music: "Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst" - Kendrick Lamar Instrumental Twitter - / 435american
Haha, can't blame them, that's my favorite state flag! And yea, people wearing their state flag isn't something you see often (especially where I am in Illinois w/ a hideous flag).
Maryland's is my favorite too, it's so bad that it's good. I'd have to say Colorado is my second favorite, though. New Mexico would definitely be in my top 5.
PR.DeltaDash I'll give the union one thing, at least they were fighting against slavery, but their naming conventions for battles is stupid, why name it after the nearest creek or river? The nearest town makes way more sense.
Huh, thought these names were pretty straight forward compared to other pronunciations, but I suppose the online pronunciations I used may have been incorrect. Thanks for the comment.
+Obligation4 Intellect God forbid anyone is autocorrected to the wrong word on the Internet, how could you ever assume I meant county instead of country despite me expressly stating 'in the states'?
@@435American • Suppose "I" stand corrected, if not for realizing better than autocorrect (muchless PROOF READING my "work" taking pride in my accomplishment... muchless my "PRIDE" for my state) But you're correct - it was "MY FAULT" Thank you for your humble response
Baltimore is NOT on the coast of the Chesapeake Bay (as stated at 1:10). It's on the Patapsco River. Oops (at 4:37), AND Antietam is NOT where Lincoln gave his Emancipation Proclamation. It was Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, which is why it's referred to as "The Gettysburg Address". This, along with grammatical errors, does not make Maryland appealing - not to mention HIGH TAXES!
The Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address were two separate things. The Emancipation Proclamation wasn't even really "given" either. The battle at Antietam was the push Lincoln needed to issue the Proclamation.
