Really nice production here. Very observant and informative. Thank you for bringing this piece of history to us. I am very close to Fredericksburg and know the Rappahannock Forge site in Falmouth quite well. Virginia Committee of Safety muskets have always been of interest to me.
Thank you for another informative video and for covering the committee of safety muskets. They came up on my radar recently so I am looking very forward to seeing you cover more on them. Also, this is timely as we are coming into the 250th anniversary.
These werent continental army units. "Comittee of safety" was often used as a code word for "militia" especially when those groups were operating within occupied areas full of loyalist informants. Probably also why the muskets were often designed to mimic British arms. It all added an air of plausible deniability. It's much easier for a militia unit to drill and muster if the redcoats and their loyalist rubes think they're some sort of loyalist home guard unit.
