I had been feeling very depressed and alone and lost for quite some time recently, and then a few days ago a commercial for some store advertising a sale on back to school clothes came on the TV. They were playing Mase's version of "Welcome Back Kotter" and it sent chills through my entire body. I had never heard this version before but I instantly fell in love with it. I googled it and found this video and have been playing it over and over again for days now. Something about it touched my heart and gave me hope and inspiration. I feel renewed and alive again.

This joint is illy - IDGAF what anyone says! I've always thought he was underrated. He's got a certain groove to him, distinctive voice/flow and he's so damn likeable. The way Mase went from rap stardom to the more community driven occupation as a preacher is phenomenal and surely a massive service to lower economic regions that have role models that are simply playing a persona that fits the standard that was set in the days of Snoop, NWA, and such with gangster rap. It's heartwarming to know that people like this exist in a world that is littered with those who are simply self serving despite the general consensus of being Christian. Big props to Mase and all who are alongside him brining new possibilities and existence that can be sustained. The African American community needs all of their beautifully resilient people to be acknowledged so that their success and ability to thrive can not only ensure their security, but to lay a foundation in which future generations can further reduce the gap that is so apparent in ever day life.

Had Mase died after this more people would be bringing his name up with the goat conversation. His 1st and this album were classics. He's undoubtedly one of the best rappers in my opinion with great songs and always had best flow in the game. I'd love if he came back with another master piece!!
