To the modeling fraternity out in the big bad world ..... I am an 88 year young modeler and I am using my wifes computer , and my problem is I have tried to mask of my cockpit canopy and failed, I have tried to paint the varmint and failed yet again my next effort will be a felt tipped pen and working on a clear canopy seems a bit daunting with a slight shaking hand under tension .....Soooo ...anyone with any ideas would be welcome . Thanks for any effort you may make for me
All i can ssy is that you have ny deepest respect... you are an example to all of us... I have one of my latest videos i clean a seam line on a canopy.. on a F14 Iranian colors.. if you can watch it and it helps you i eoukd be happy... my respects!
@@AlexModeling Thank you for that much appreciated I am told that the older you get you should build a bigger plane to make life easy don't believe it ... I am trying to build a 6ft wingspan Lancaster they are pulling your leg.
I have watched a few of these masking video's and they have all been masked off on the outside of the canopy I always thought the framework was on the inside and you should mask off the inside I am now confused as how to do it . Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter to help me ? thanks in advance
Masking & Painting Canopy or clear parts I use the following, bond for woodworking (aqueous vinyl acetate resin type emulsion type adhesive) use Coloring with watercolor paint is possible. Apply thickly, spread using a thin bar and surface tension. After painting drying, it becomes easier to peel off when warmed up
Great tutorial!, thank you very much. Muito obrigado. May I ask what do you use for glueing canopies?. I use cristal clear, but mine. has converted in some kind of jelly. So I used Tamiya extra thin, and it didn't "frost".
Good video, thank you. Question: Wouldn't Maskol leave cloudy/foggy surface on canopy after being removed ? Also is it safe to apply Maskol after enhancing canopy with clear coats ?
Vortex With me that never happened.. however i am sceptical (like you are i guess) with it! if you use a thin layer of Maskol i think that xan happend however i use a thick one and never had troubles
Vortex Im the one who thanks! im no pro at this and because of it i forget something that sometimes is vital... you asked the correct and very inportant question! thank YOU!:)
+komoras well this may sound strange to you but if you glloped vaseline on brushes then wait a few minutis to set and then wash the brush in dishwashing liquid you will obtain a good result... i know this because i actually mistake vaseline with clear soap and tge result was very good so... got lucky
Hi Alex. I wonder what you would do if a difference between the frame and the glass is around 0.1mm plus there is curve with a 1mm radius? I tried the pencil technique but the crease is just to shallow. Enlighten me.
Man that really sucks! A canopy biger than the frame? Most honestly i would place the canopy open and deal only with tge contact point of the canopy with the fuselage... open its much hard to notice the diference
AlexModeling thank you for the reply. The fuselage has nothing to do with my problem. It's the line between the frame of the canopy and the actual glass. It's so tiny running the pencil along it is almost impossible. Sticking and creasing the narrow tamiya tape is also difficult due to sharp turn with a tiny radius. You must have seen a-10 canopy.
Have u tried the white Masking tape that allows you to do curvs with it? Even so.. its not imperative that the masking tape leavs only tge exact line to clean.. you can gently sand the line AND a bit of the canopy around as long as u polish it very well
AlexModeling If you can keep a secret! I received another birthday present today and there are - pshhhh! - two aircraft kits in there! Please, don't tell anybody before my video is up, okay? :)
AlexModeling It was awesome to work with my airbrush. Cleaning was easy no problem at all I hope you enjoy my slide show of the wessex. I will upload the final slide show of the wessex tomorrow. Building now the london bus
