I think Lector did that so he couldn't lure children anymore because lets face it Mason is hideous to look at no way would a child ever go near him now Lector took away Mason's main pleasure in life and made it so his real ugly nature can be seen by everyone.

Mason Verger is described by Thomas Harris as having the face of an angel. He was very handsome, beautiful even, which made children trust him. He was also from a wealthy family whose money no doubt aided and abetted his crimes. He had a life fit for a prince or a king. Lector felt death was too good for him so he gave him a life fit for a hideous monster. Because behind those looks and money that's what Varger truly was, Hannibal just brought it to the surface.

Are you saved friend? If you died tonight will you go to heaven or hell? God Almighty, the Creator was manifest in the flesh. He came into the world to take away the sin of the world. He gave up his own life to save yours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for your redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. This is the Gospel which means the Good News. Those that reject redemption will go to hell. John 1:1-3,10 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Isaiah 44:6 KJV Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Revelation 1:17-18 KJV And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. Acts 4:12 KJV Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. John 5:24 KJV Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Matthew 28:19-20 KJV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. @@dieterrosswag933 That's not what the Oscars folks thought. Hopkins and Oldman were up against each other just last month and Hopkins walked away with the Academy Award (rightfully as he was extraordinary in The Father). Overall, Hopkins has twice the number of both Oscars and nominations than Oldman (and 5 times the number of Emmy nominations and twice the BAFTA Awards). And no one can just say the Academy has been unfair to Oldman, as they've slighted Hopkins for various great performances too. At any rate, they are both excellent actors.

@JRRLewis
@JRRLewis 9 месяцев назад
@@jpalvarez4972 The person claiming that Oldman was clearly greater than Hopkins (comment now apparently deleted) provided no evidence than just his opinion. It's not just the Oscars, but Hopkins has a more impressive record of honors, awards, and achievements than Oldman across the board; is that really less relevant than a random poster's personal take? And anyone who has seen Hopkins in The Father versus Oldman in Mank will know that Hopkins' win had nothing to do with being part of the club, but rather in putting in one of the greatest performances in movie history. It's really funny calling Hopkins "part of the club" anyway, when he's always kept apart from the typical Hollywood crowd and awards campaigning, has been snubbed numerous times by the Academy even for BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated roles, and has spoken very harshly against the way the awards game is played. And his two wins have been two of the most deserving wins in Academy history, certainly not given out for being one of the boys or for having a strong "narrative."

Yes it is a movie, but if you think about it, it kind of "almost" makes sense to be unafraid, which can be seen in the situaion where the Razorbacks are rushing towards but passing by hannibal, and when hannibal is cut loose, when he so calmly analyses the sitation and instructs Clarice what to do. Fear can paralyze and make you not act as you should, and perhaps you could project that it was trained, or it is a psycological defect ..no emotions, no fear, but it´s a movie so you would have to get in to the writers mind, it isn´t explained I think.

Also, he cut his own hand, to get loose and avoiding being locked up again. I was at the Biltmore House when they were filming Hannibal. It was fascinating. All up and down the driveways in front of the house were semi-trailers that were work shops for costumes and props. They also had generators that were so quite you could barely hear them run One of the crew told me they filmed extensively inside the house. Unfortunatly most of that footage did not make the final print. He also ment Anthony Hopkins and told me he was a real nice guy.

Something I personally appreciate; Hannibal looking about as he is wheeled through, and when observing mason. He has an eidetic memory, enhanced by the 'memory palace' technique, and so is drinking in every detail of the furnished surroundings and masons aged mutilations. Hannibal's later line about preferring Mason as he is is Hannibal appreciating his own handiwork (and who among us does not?).

I love this scene. Especially that taken aback look Verger gives Lecter at about 1:48. Like he's furious that Lecter isn't afraid and quivering, on top of the fact that Lecter undid his entire speech with only one sentence. The soundtrack going on in the background is awesome too. It's like a twisted version of a famous classical piece. I can't think of the name offhand, but it's that same piece Spongebob and Patrick hum while Jellyfishing. You know, "Dada da-da DUM!" (Kind of a weird example, but it still stands lol)
@irisharan3038

I liked the taken aback infuriated look too - this was a moment that Mason had planned for years and whatever victory there was in capturing him and advising he was to be tortured Lecter just took it away from him by keeping his cool and mildly insulting him. Mason Verger : “Hylochoerus Meinertzhageni. Ring any bells from high school biology, doctor? No? Well, I could list its most conspicuous features if that would help jog the memory. Three pairs of incisors, one pair of elongated canines, three pairs of molars, four pairs of pre-molars, upper and lower, for a total of forty-four teeth. The meal will begin with an hors d'oeuvre tartare: your feet. The main course - the rest of you - won't be served until seven hours later, but during that time, you'll be able to enjoy the effects of the consumed appetizer with a full-bodied saline drip. I guess you wish now you'd fed the rest of me to the dogs, hmm? Hannibal Lecter : “No, Mason. No, I much prefer you the way you are.” Mason Verger : “So... dinner at 8.”
