The challenge: Up until now, the installation of adhered masonry veneers has required the use of site-mixed Type S or Type N mortars - materials that are subject to large variations in consistency, quality, and performance and which also limit the installation technique to that of traditional masonry.
Projects that have been plagued by delaminating stone, water intrusion, and other performance issues have left specifiers in need of a coordinated solution. This traditional method is not engineered as part of a complete wall system and therefore does not offer warranties from a reliable source willing to stand behind the installation.
The solution: realizing these needs, and based on our globally proven technology, LATICRETE has developed an installation system that provides a permanent, high strength installation that is freeze/thaw stable and protected from water intrusion.
Backed by either the LATICRETE® 15-Year System Warranty or 25-Year System Warranty, the Masonry Veneer Installation System (MVIS™) allows for increased productivity utilizing either traditional masonry veneer installation techniques or the "tile setter's" method.

Is there a concern that termites could travel behind the stone in tiny channels to reach wood framing above the cement being covered?

Hi Cindy! Thanks for watching and reaching out. You need to promote 100% coverage of adhesive to the veneer unit and to the substrate. Complete bedding of the mortar to both the veneer unit and the substrate is critical. Hope this helps!

Great video, on an interior application over durarock cement board is the roll on moisture barrier needed? In the video the guy appears to be doing an interior application. Thx

Glad you found it informative! No, not needed. Direct adhere to the cement board is fine if no waterproofing /antifracture is spec'd or needed on the install.

Are these products ideal to use for exterior installation. I want to install the veneers stones on a cement wall, that is in good shape, no cracks etc. Thank you

I saw this (with a woman) in a bathroom... can you use it in a bathroom...with regular tile.. or was that just show??

Hello! Thank you for your message! Yes this product can be used in a bathroom with regular tiles, however, If you're looking for an extended system warranty for this type of application we would recommend using a suitable mortar from our Tile and Stone Installation line of products. In one comment you advise that a barrier is not required, in another you you say it is. Can I get a definitive answer? Yes or no?

We wouldn't decide if a barrier (air or water) is needed. That would be up to the design professionals on the project. Do you have to use the air and water barrier over the cement board? Ive never seen anyone do that before

Yes, if you are looking for LATICRETE System Warranty. It can be used as an Crack Isolation as well. It helps with the minor movements from thermal shock and freeze thaw and also may help with some of the soluble salts (efflorescence) in wall system. That’s doing too much. The good ol wah is easier .. type s mortar slathered on each individual stone Not too wet nor dry for quicker installation without pressing too hard or holding it for more than 3 seconds.

Type S compared to our products doesn't really stack up. No pun intended! But, Although used in similar applications the two aren't really apples to apples. And therefor factory produced installation materials assure consistently high quality installations, and higher performance then a Type S, thus providing warrantable installations for challenging exterior applications.
