maybe if everything didn't look perfect and clean. It would be nice if the buildings were dirty here and there, if some tanks were rusting... It would look like the units were at war and not at an exhibition of military equipment. I will definitely play it
they should add Percentage number for building process bar, and one very important thing is that the game is showing the enemy unit health bar automatically when you attack them wich will makes you confuse which unit is yours and which is your enemy especially in big battles, so they should defenitely remove that and make it showing only when you hover your mouse accross enemy units or buildings
There is potential here though and remember they're on a tight budget so these things take time, the amount of people working on this also would reflect the quality and the speed. I am however quite impressed with the day-night cycle and the "dynamic" weather although I think this is a scripted event, nontheless it's a cool addition. Hopefully they can secure a budget and see this game through.
I commend them for their work. But the generals is the game of its time and for us old players who lived through that time, enjoyed the original game's voice acting and its punchy soundtrack it wont scratch the same itch. We and the devs should look at this project as a spiritual successor, not a replacement.
I mean… this definitely could use some improvement. Vehicle movement speed for the dozers is a bit much, and there isn’t any rebound or real turn rate. Kinda looks a bit plastic, and the contrast would look nice if the colors were a bit darker. But honestly, I’m just thankful you can point your buildings towards certain directions as it is.
its good for alpha demo version, hopefully they will work on it, there much more important things than day/night cycle, rain starting/stopping, please focus on everything else commented in this video
i think the game suffers more from game feel. all units seem 'too responsive' where it seems you can abuse micro to the same level of SC2. Generals definitely has that jank charm similar to games like Smash Brothers Melee where it's shortcomings from limitation of the tech at the time become technical mechanics that you can master overtime. this is like the rich son of a former rock star trying to capture the same lightning and edge their father had. it just wont happen no matter how hard you force it. until indie RTS devs start creating their own paths in the genre, there's just gonna be more popcorn like this.
Hummves are still in use it's either the creator choose a generic international vehicle design to not piss off any US weapons contranter and pay up for using the likeness of hummve in game like how counter strike used alternative names for the weapons up until valve bought the mod and gave full permission to use real life names or i know this might sound silly but Turkish people tend to he too patriotic with their national pride and want to put the transport vehicle used by their country in the game
I admire trying, but this just looks bad like these generic rts games with over polished graphics and nothing special about them. Also the models don't appeal to me that much. The only thing this game has similar to ZH is a dozer.
