This Channel is an underrated unspoken hero in the ME community. No one would take the time to organize these choices and make quality videos explaining with clips from each game.
I have seen many game-lore videos on Mass effect but none are as organized and detailed as Big Dan Gaming. This channel is basically the RU-vid version of Fandom.
@@e.q.s1137 I can't even play a full renegade anymore, lol! I'm too in love with the game & I know how much those little Renegade moments can cost. Naa, don't open Grunt's tank, that's paragon. Give Legion to Cerberus, that's renegade. Can't do it! Sure, I'll kill a terrorist over saving his hostage but letting him go, but that big game stuff is too much XD
I'm not gonna say I "let her die" the first time playing ME3..... But sometimes a person might set the controller down for a second to take a bite of frozen pizza. And sometimes paragon interrupts are too fast to react to in those situations...
@@porsche911sbs i see your ponit but tali even has dialogue for the downed turian ship on tuchunka and for the rachni mission which both come up way before the monestary mission
I accidentally let that happen when I was playing through and talking to a friend. When I realised I missed the interrupt I freaked the hell out and restarted the entire mission just to spite my friend for making me have to see that.
I actually like Ashley's reaction. People have different ways with which they deal with that kind of thing. The entire Falere/Samara incident put things into perspective regarding her own family.
Ashley's response is pretty human honestly. That family cares about the others an awful lot so the mission hit her differently than the others. Samara isn't someone she spent any time with either. Besides, there's still other things you can hold against Ashley anyway :P
The real issue is that Ashley has basically no dialog once she's on the ship. And the only proper cutscene with her on the ship is when she's plastered
Ashley’s entire character is generally pretty human - she has flaws, but also some good traits, and she could’ve had a lot of character growth over the course of the trilogy if the writers (and the fandom) had given her that chance. For some reason, the fandom tends to jump to the worst possible conclusion about a lot of things she says and does. I think Big Dan’s videos are usually pretty informative, but he’s no different from the rest of the fandom when it comes to hating Ashley for no other reason than the conclusions he’s jumped to about her.

You see, even though we know that if we let her live she and Falere would both live happily ever after isolated in that planet, Sherpard doesn't see the future and doesn't know about that happy ending. All she knows is that right now she's fighting a war against an enemy who can control minds and is thorough enough to return and make sure they captured all Ardat-Yakshi. So wether we like it or not, we have to kill. And since Samara her courage to commit suicide shows she is clearly willing to stop us and then kill herself so that both her Justicar and mother code are satisfied, then we have to let her put herself out of our way. And besides, this way the entire family could be together in the Aftelife.
2:36 Did anyone else also noticed Samara blinking her eyes as she fell after shooting herself ? I mean, she took a headshot. So she shouldn't be able to blink. Perhaps it's just a glitch.
Well, it definitely is a glitch here. But in real life, a lot of animal carcasses can still have residual nerve activity. In other words, things that are really truly dead can still spasm. So eye lids could definitely still move, even if there's no consciousness left to experience pain.
And if you don't have a romantic relationship with either Garrus or Tali, after Tali says "You like to keep everything at a distance", Garuss has an additional line: "Exactly. Wait, what do you mean?"
Ashley's response feels fairly on point for her, Falere is a younger sister who was probably raised at least partially by Rila, after all, Morinth was the oldest and ran off as an Ardat-Yakshi, Samara was hunting her down and we never hear about their father, for Ashley to see or hear about how that family group broke down, leaving only the youngest daughter around, probably makes her look toward her own family and their placement in this war.
How do you not get depressed making so many of these videos 😂. Seriously, multiple games worth of friendships then you do these things and just wreck it 😂. You’re a tough guy 😂.
I'm tempted to do this in my Renegade Playthrough but I always try to keep as many companions/ex-companions as possible in Mass Effect 3... partly for War Assets, partly for partying on the Citadel and I'm trying to save Mordin and will probably choose Jacob for the Tech 'specialist' for the memes.
I’m currently ending my renegade playthrough I killed everyone off besides garrus Kaiden and Miranda, it was really hard trying not to do loyalty missions in ME2 otherwise Miranda and garrus probably would’ve died but I need them alive for the hold the line in suicide mission, after this I’m doing a paragon walkthrough again my soul is tainted seeing legion die by collector swarms saying “critical error error” I was more hurt than losing tali😪 it’s weird tho cause I did his loyalty I thought he would’ve made it but it was either between him and zaeed dying by the swarm so it had to be legion, now the Geth quarian Situation isn’t gonna end very well like shooting Mordin in the back on tuchanka
With ardat yakshi being so rare as said by Samara in ME2, why are there so many banshees. The reapers must've turned the regular asari into banshees as well while the ardat yakshi variant is the most powerful.
I’ve thought of this too, but if you think about it. Relative to the population of the Asari which is billions in sure there at very least hundreds if not thousands of them. The reapers fear Sheppard so always try to throw their best at him/her and Sheppard always is dealing with important targets hence powerful defenses. Also as a side note I wonder how many Asari are secretly Ardat Yakshi or they haven’t matured fully. Just my thoughts though.
Given how reapers can manipulate the genetics of a race when they convert them it wouldn’t surprise me if they can just alter the genes of captive asari with the abnormality that causes the condition that the ardat yakshi have.
I thought the monastery had over 100 ardat yakshi there. Considering there are probably millions if not billions of asari in the galaxy I doubt this was the only monastery.
I really wish that they have put a timer during the paragon/renegade interaction. This will make sure you got all the dialogue and enough time to choose.
These videos are fun cause it answers the question of what would happen if I do this or that since most of the time, I couldn't go through with it even just out of curiosity.
There’s really such little differences in outcomes for these choices, you just don’t sweat it. Cautious manual saves before these scenes are always a good idea. Of course on first play through you won’t know when they come.

Another renegade option that literally has no benefit at all. It really sucks how most renegade outcomes are objectively bad. It's like BioWare wants you to be Paragon...
not necessarily true some renegade interrupts actually make the game easier like shocking the helicopter pilot in ME2 Or killing the krogan who talks too much at tuchanka
@@voidofastora6032 that's true, but most of those choices don't impact the story, just one fight. This for example kills off a major character for no reason
Mass effect 3 took it too far I think, Renegade isn’t meant to be Evil it’s just cold and badass Mass effect 2 I think did this the best where Mass effect 3 just makes renegade Shepard a racist ****

For a long time I wondered who my favorite character was from Mass Effect. With the Legendary Edition I really do think that Samara is my absolute favorite... I legit took her on every mission I could and as soon as the Monastery became available I jumped at the memory of her being there. But... I forgot about that scene. As soon as the option came up I stopped her, of course. I've never even had Morinth as a companion cos' I just refuse to lose Samara. As for Ashely "making it about herself".... I'm inclined to disagree. If I witnessed someone try and kill themselves in front of their family because of a Code that, at the barest bones isn't much different from being committed to any organization; I think I'd be doing to same as her. Trying to remember what truly matters. Samara definitely deserves better than that end. I'd of even taken her staying behind while you saved Falere and Rila. But not that. At least if she died fighting the renegade option would have a semblance of my attention... just not this.

Lol just when this samara thing happens I got a whatsapp message and I was looking at my phone and she shot herself. For a long time I thought we don’t even have a choice to save her.
In one of my cycle. Samara never mentioned Morinth (Only talked to her once) In the Suicide Mission Samara fell and broke her neck after fighting the Reaper T-800. So when this mission came about. Liara has to explain the WHOLE Ardat-Yakshi thing to Shepard. Falare had no confidant in Shepard though cause she learned of her mother's fate.
Did you know I did not realize you were imitating Sheppard when he says “I should go”I thought it was your sign off Monicker and always thought it funny. It wasn’t until I did the clone mission when Shepherd says do I really talk like that and kept repeating it but I finally realized it and had a good chuckle OK I should go
In my most recent play-through, I did this mission before recruiting Tali and I got that same dialogue she has with Garrus after priority Rannoch. Off topic a bit but I can’t help wonder if it was cut from the original game and BioWare put it back into the LE. I bet a bunch of dialogue was added this way.
Ashley has canned dialogue. She says the same thing no matter what the mission outcome is. Both her and Kaidan have few lines in ME3. It really annoyed me.
In my renegade run I missed my opportunity to kill Samara in ME2 so I just let her live and I had planned to kill Felare too but when the time came, I just couldn't pull the trigger. samara dead tho
Jesus Shepard's nonchalant "Felare?" response when Liara is talking about her after he murders her. It's like the whole matter was just business as usual.
If Samara lives, she says 'I will join your forces'. I assumed she'd be a squad mate and was looking for her on Normandy. Turns out she is just a war asset. That sucks.
I almost missed it myself. I would have hated myself if I accidentally let her die because my hand wasn't on my mouse. I got it just in the nick of time.
Also, why we just run away leaving behind bomb and Samara's daughter (what's her name again?)in a first place? It's just 3 banshee without any husk support, we can totally fight this.
I only noticed Samara pointed the gun at herself on my 2nd playthrough! First time I thought I was stopping her from murdering Falaire! XD 2nd time I let the gun get further before hitting the interrupt so I saw her place it to her temple. Must have been a close call on my interrupt! She doesn't waste any time pulling that trigger!!

Nothing? Or maybe just "I didn't know her, but I'm sorry for your loss"? If you don't have anything appropriate or relevant to say in relation to a friend of your friend dying, that doesn't make it okay to make it about yourself
The Tali/Garrus banter has nothing to do with the outcome of the mission. I've never let Samara die and I've heard that. Amazing what you hear when you check on all crew after every mission.
Welp, time to reload that save. Actually, Ash is making this all about Samara and her family as well: basically, she's just talking about why her family is admittedly (and guiltily, in some ways) more better off than Samara's, and it might be also a subtle nod on how the now dead Justicar's family would have ended up in similar terms were it not for a stupid death defect and a war going on. Really hope there's actually Tali dialogue that wasn't implemented by, oh no, more bugs. Either that, or she really doesn't want to talk about it. Mass Effect 3 sure is messed up. Death, death all around... thank goodness it wasn't made these present days, otherwise a lot of people might have complaints. Oh, and toughest mission: the events of Arrival. Scariest thing: fudging Geth Stalkers, if not fricking Banshees!
As little as Samara was tailored to let slip by, I think that letting her commit suicide is a monumentally coward act. If only I had more time to stay with that matriarch...
Hey dan can you make a video on how to use the save file editor? That would be really cool. :) I've been trying to figure out for weeks and there's almost nothing on the internet that helped.
The EMS and cutscenes aren't what you miss. What you miss is Samara herself. Even as a Renegade, I never let the Normandy crew, past or present, down. It feels wrong to.
You know it just occured to that had samara just said yes to Shepard's we'll bang ok invitation it probably wouldnt result in an ardat yakshi as samara says something to the effect of it being an genetic diversity issue akin to inbreeding that causes an asari to be born ardat yakshi.
To me. i would save samara and not letting her kill herself. 1. She is a damn good squadmate with her biotic abilities and a valuable asset to Shepard crew arsenal 2. Yes i do like the relatability between her child to liara with her mother back in the first ME game and i feel like liara should not make the others of her race feel the same of grief on losing a mother. 3. Even though her romance with Shepard is not the best out there cuz of samara`s code of being a justicar. but she is definitely an underrated romance character, kinda sad that she doesn't fully commit as a romance option (yes, she is semi-romance able) but damn she is beautiful for an asari that lived for more than 400 years.
This mission is a tough call for Renegades, I mean do you stay on the path and let her do it, or do you embrace a Paragon interrupt to save a former squad mate?
