That's Mass Effect in general - sure, they play up the newcomer/second-class citizen stuff, but it's always about saving Earth and humans being special.
@@HowlingWolf518 Exactly. Like how in ME2 you try to recruit ALIENS to stop attacks on HUMAN colonies (why would they even give a shit? And with a pro human terrorist group no less). Or in ME3 when the ENTIRE FUCKING GALAXY is at war with the Reapers but Sheperd expects all of the other races to drop everything to go save Earth.
Played through it twice, still, the intro and it's music is almost better than the whole game. The music alone is something phenomenal, the whole feeling of this huge new galaxy journey realised in sound for everyone to witness. Absolutely genius.
@@MrlspPrt Yeah, this was kinda the only game i had on my PC at the time and i had no internet so i tried my best to enjoy it. The game is a massive dissapointment compared to the trilogy, the only good things are soundtrack (especially the ambience music) and planet exploration. The graphics are pretty, so it is sort of enjoyable to explore the different planets (not the jungle planet tho). The frozen one was really cool, it feels so dead and cold and empty and surreal, but then the whole game flops on its face when you interact with any of the missions or npc's - they absolutely fucking suck, characters have zero personality and they all look like freaks (atleast they did back when game launched, guess they patched a lot of it). TLDR: Decent open world game, very average Mass Effect game.
This was the first mass effect game I've played. I love it. Sad to see it got so much hate from an old fanbase of an apparently very successful trilogy. Hope this game moves forward. Will probably play the first three a bit to see what I missed. I LOVE THIS GAME.
To be fair, it was worse with ME3 and its "weird and colored" ending, the trilogy was very well built and no matter how improved the game system was in Andromeda (it was good, I enjoyed the new mechanics), the main point of this franchise was the story, something where Andromeda disappointed fans. The idea of avoiding the "colored ending" from Mass Effect 3 was well executed sending us 3M years away, but the story... My advice: I hope you avoided spoilers, the original trilogy has too many plot twists and WTF moments you must experience.
@@MrlspPrt Story and choices across the trilogy were incredible, absolutely no comparison. And most of all the connections you make with your crew... by the end of ME3 they feel like friends or family. You never want it to end and you want to come through it all alive, with them... been playing videogames for 30 years and the only games that made me feel like that were ME and RDR2. I wouldn't even call Andromeda a Mass Effect game... story and characters are completely bland and forgettable, just a generic sci-fi game with good combat and production values (except character animation).
@@MrlspPrt He got the brain, but no up on his rank? In my books, that's a Jah Damn sin. You'll always be Mr Krabs & Starship Trooper Zim to me, Mister Clancy Brown ❤😊 much respect Sir!
634 years. What a commitment. I don't know if I would be brave enough to go through with this if offered. To never see my family, friends or home ever again? I couldn't do this.
An amazing intro, feels-all-Bioware, I was full of anticipation after this intro; and I was positively impacted from all angles. An addition of verticality to a gameplay is absolutely fantastic given the new possibilities of a suit. The motion capture and the gaming mechanics are very impressive, a character control and exploration is very smooth and full of SCI-FI techs and ideas. The graphics is all-Bioware, very crispy, full of surprises to overwhelm by an impression. The starting on the first planet and a view of the star was better than in Prey (and Prey surprised me a lot by means of the graphics). Adjusted for the details field and given the actual conditions, Bioware graphics always feel full of an idea to portray fully and lively a current lore and a story - it is something not easily done. I can feel that Bioware pulls into their games more vigor overall. The details field is a stand-alone category which is always limited due to the present technological advancements in whatever game. With the games it is like with the history by means of the details - cannot be evaluated retroactively from the present views. The state, the political system, the economy, the political decisions are like the details in the games.
@@happzy Some parts were much better executed on Andromeda, but what they are trying to say is that it is not fair to compare Andromeda with the original trilogy.
Depending on everyone's choices during the first 3 games, I wonder what the galaxy is like now after all that time. There would have been another 634 years worth of advancements, they could more that likely have beaten them to Andromeda with the current tech in the galaxy
"Whatever the cost, whatever the effort, let us not shy away from the greatness that is our birthright!" Ups wrong game (Endless Space 2, the emperials)
While I certainly had my issues with MEA, it’s a far better game than it got credit for. If you allow yourself to stop comparing it to the original trilogy and just let it be it’s own thing, you’ll find that it’s quite fun.
As someone who never played the og ME series, I played this one first & thought it was pretty good, I recently played the legendary edition & completed all 3 games & have to say I feel like Andromeda got a lot of hate for no reason lol or maybe I just don't understand why people disliked it
This has to be one of my favorite intros in videogames. ME1 intro is great, specially when you are starting your second playthrough and you know what is this man (or woman) going to do, ME2 is also good. ME3 is pure depression (in a good way) but MEA is just powerful, the setup of being a traveler, seeing Earth for the last time, going to the edge of the solar system and going to the arc thats going to get you and 100,000 other travelers like you to a whole new galaxy. Its amazing. The rest of the game might not be as great and awesome as the intro is but its alright. Its a good Mass Effect spin off
@@41Brother2 For number one Lex Luthor is from DC comics for 2 Clancy Brown is the guy that voiced The Ryder twins dad ps i’m not saying it’s a bad thing Those are fun facts
The concept was magnificent. Pushing Mass Effect technology to the utmost limits and exploring a whole new galaxy is brilliant. The timing relative to the rest of the series is … questionable. Namely because if humanity alone had the resources to build something almost on par with the Citadel BEFORE the Reapers invaded, taking the Reapers on should have been WAY easier.
Megatto It actually wasn't EA's fault supprisingly, not to long ago (I think someone from Bioware or who helped with the game) it was said that it was the choice of engine Bioware used for the game.
Frostbite 3 was never designed for open world game, also the member of the teams changed a lot but still in my humble opinion even with all the flaws it was a very good game
I'm finally picking Andromeda up again after 4 years. I abandoned it cause of the performance and bugs. But now it will kneel to my 9900k and RTX 3080!
@@sebastiannachtigall869 That could explain a lot. What if the Reapers and the Scourge phenomenon or deployment were related? I think we wont know anything about Scourge or possibly its creator until a possible sequel ( if they do). It would be amazing having contacts using CEC with Milky Way.
I always thought that the andromeda's initiative motive... Which was exploration was weak, a self preservation motive would've been better, launching the initiative after the reapers invaded, an emergency plan if reapers harvest succeeded, and then... After the war was over, send another ark to tell them that salvation was achieved in the milky way.
Then you'd have to explain the threat of the Reapers to everyone. The point of the Andromeda Initiative, was to get underway before the Reapers invaded.
Putting aside the awsomenes of this intro, think about want was happening on earth for 600 years... How Earth would be far more advanced than Andromeda Initiative? Assuming that people didnt kill eachother...
@@coolsteve1342 same, Shepherd dies in the citadel and he becomes a martyr for the warriors of the next cycle that defeat the reapers with the knowledge they gained from his efforts.
If you choose control The reapers will become a police force and the milky Way becomes a United civilization and begins colonizing different galaxies by the events of Andromeda If you choose destroy the leviathans re-enslaved the entire Milky Way by the events of Andromeda If you choos synthesis The Milky Way enters a golden age and everyone is in the same state as the leviathans by the events of Andromeda
Yeah it still would have taken many many years to reach Andromeda if they kept flying at the speed they were when the arc stopped traveling faster than light speed. I still Iiked it, it was pretty epic
When i thought focus would be on exploration, and after finishing game i kinda felt dissapointed, good game but worst mass effect game, i hoped it would be possible to make peace with kett, that would be more interesting
I laugh at the fact that it's an Ark. It's population is a hundred thousand? Pulease, a real ark would be at least the size of the Citadel and at max, we've seen the smaller Ark in Halo.
The game was good and underrated and criticized so much. Yes the faces and animations were bad, but they did fix them and going back the gameplay is the best of all ME games. I hope they bring this gameplay back in the new one. Yes it was not better than the originals but it was still a good ME game.
I don’t get the timeline, how is possible this technological development in such a short time when humans don’t even left their old way of thinking and understanding elementary nature things. Some ruins can’t gave you enough knowledge on evolution and growth, because power is equal to responsibility. Ok, it’s just a game
This opening had me pumped too...Then we meet the locals, and I seriously thought maybe you wouldn't be shooting right from the start, but no... Not only do they speak perfect English, but they are shooting at you in about 3 seconds... Any hope for meeting a cool new species, working through the inevitable communication problems as we work to forge a relationship... Nope. Just generic big bads. Stupid quests and terrible animations sealed it for me and I tapped out on the first desert planet. What a let down.
Those issues turned me off to it on release, but in the last week I haven't been wanting to put the game down when going for a mass effect title. Mostly because I really didn't want to go through the original games mechanics, even if it's updated. ME2 is where I felt a lot more comfortable. I do wish EA didn't transfer off the bioware team to work on another game. Which I am told was worse, so they could come back and clean up the story, bugs, make the choices mean something. and give us a post game story or other such dlc, anything to build on what we got. Because I feel what we got was interesting but doomed to failure because of EA's meddling.
For me Mass effect andromeda is bad game, broken, curve, unfinished, but... It still mass effect that i loved and i see the soul in Andromeda. Andromeda is weaker mass effect, but it still mass effect and i love this game. Even see terrible animation, location hell, it still for me Mass Effect and it's sad that i can't see a continue of story of Galactic Andromeda with Vetra (best waifu in Andromeda), Drack, Pebe, Cora, Jaal, Leksi, Kallo.
I wanted this game to be so good but it is the worst game in the series by far. I couldn't even finish it because of the poor quality of it. I hate EA so much for screwing this franchise...
The firsy time I played this, I got goosebumps when the letters appeared suddenly in the black screen, like the first mass effect game. So iconic and cool moment, where the synth arpeggio sets the mood for the tittle.
