My Third Mass Effect Lore entry, this one focuses on The Salarians, the second species to discover the Citadel. Famous for the intelligence gathering and Espionage they have had a huge impact on the Galactic Community.

“You all know the mission and what is at stake. I have come to trust each of you with my life, but I have also heard murmurs of discontent. I share your concerns. We are trained for espionage. We would be legends, but the records are sealed. Glory in battle is not our way. Think of our heroes: the Silent Step, who defeated a nation with a single shot. Or the Ever Alert, who kept armies at bay with hidden facts. These giants do not seem to give us solace here, but they are not all that we are. Before the network, there was the fleet. Before diplomacy, there were soldiers. Our influence stopped the rachni, but before that, we held the line. Our influence stopped the krogan, but before that, we held the line! Our influence will stop Saren! in the battle today, we will hold the line!”
I was thinking the same thing. Those rates sound like barely an inconvenience given how many in a litter (if that's the right term, sorry krogans, I'm not racist).
I adore this species. One of my favorite video game extra terrestrials. I love it because it's so "alien", also they are scientists so they gain automatic bonus points.
Awesome educational video as always! When you talked about how the Spectre Program was inspired by the salarian's STG I thought you were definitely gonna mention how the first Spectre, Beelo Gurji, was a salarian. He was the guy who helped out young Anderson, effortlessly, during a bar fight I think. You can also find him in the records during your chase of Clone Shepard in the Archives in the Citadel DLC. Do we know if there are any genetic differences between male and female salarians? I'm mainly referring to the fact that females often have much more impactful positions within their society (higher social class) compared to males. Is this simply a cultural development/choice because the female salarians are fewer in numbers, or is there more to it? In other words, does each gender perhaps have typical characteristics (or more likely skill sets)?
Oh that is a good point! I totally should have mentioned Beelo Gurji!! I don't think Salarian females and males differ in terms of genetics. I think the reason they are so powerful is because of their few numbers (value) and also because the young male salarians physologically imprint on the female dalatrass' making them loyal and submissive to the females
I don't think the Salarian that helped Anderson in the bar fight was the first spectre considering the Spectres are an institution almost as old as the council, salarians lifespans rarely exceed 40 years, and humanity was only part of the galactic community for 26 years at the start of the mass effect series.
Late as heck. But I'm here. Really enjoyed this video. Salarians are an interesting species. Despite the fact, they look simialr eye laying organisms on Earth, I was so surprised they as a species reproduce by the females laying egg. 😂 3:14 Shoutout to the people who fell for Mordin, I know that rejection must have hit hard.
Normandy Chef: Commander, Since you guys are fighting so hard to save the universe. I decided to cook everyone their favorite Dish. Javik: My mother used to make a Salarian Liver soup Mordin: ***wut
Whats crazy about them is that to a krogan the wars were one or two generation ago cuz they so long lived. To salarins it was ages ago. So they like get over the war. But krogans like yo I lived through it.
Thanks :) Me too! With each video i make, i'm getting more excited! Also Bioware promises new information on environments and gameplay on 4th January at the NVideo CES conference
