Technically Pittsfield is in the Berkshires (N County) WEST of Stockbridge. Amherst, Northampton the 5 college area is considered Western MA.

I grew up between Fall River/ Providence and people always ask me if I'm from New York when I travel. I never get asked if I'm from Boston. I actually dated a girl from Lynn for a while and people even there thought I was from New York.

There several different different SA accents, let's be honest, even among white South Africans. The English SA accent is pretty flat, but imo the Afrikaans accents is kinda harsh and percussive (and very fun to imitate).
